Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder: So light it’s barely there

If you use any liquid or cream foundation, finishing it off with a light dusting of powder will help it stay longer. Usually, I like the powder to be light without adding anymore coverage for day time. So, I normally use translucent loose powder. For a more formal evening, I’d use powder foundation after the liquid for a more flawless look.

I have tried loose powders from L’oreal to Bobbi Brown to Laura Mercier, but I always go back to this: Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder.

Make the most of your makeup with Mineral Veil, a see-through but spectacular finale for any kind of complexion. Minimizing lines, absorbing oils, and softening your complexion, it gives you a flawless finish that’s too good to miss. And best of all, it’s utterly weightless. Just a bare veil of minerals that lock makeup in place and give your skin airbrushed perfection. – www.bareescentuals.com

I like it because it is literally weightless. It melts into the skin giving it a soft focused effect. I dare say the larger pores at the side of my nose seem less noticeable. All I have to do is just to swirl, tap and buff. In fact, I find this powder works great for dusting over my under eye concealers. It does not settle in the fine lines, sets the concealer well and it does not irritate my eyes either. Furthermore, it does not contain parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and dyes, and petro-chemicals.

What I don’t like about it is the lack of staying power. On my combination oily skin, it does not last that long when compared to compact powder foundation. I know I am comparing apples with oranges here, but I guess the Mineral Veil is just what it is. A setting powder. When I use regular liquid foundation (without oil control function), my T-zone will start looking shiny by the 4th hour. However, I always prefer to use mattifying foundations, so using this as setting powder works just fine.
