Dior One Essential: Worth Every Penny

This skincare I will talk about today has been around for a while. I didn’t think much of it until one fine day, it was one of the conversations on Twitter. Feedback was mainly positive, so I decided to take the plunge. Some people break out from it, and even my Dior beauty consultant told me to sample it first. So, I started with samples on 16 March this year. A week later, I bought the full sized bottles. It is nearly 3 months since I started using this anti ageing serum and I never looked back.

I’m not going to purge what I read about the serum’s history, but basically, this is a cell regenerator that detoxifies our skin, enabling it to absorb products more efficiently, boosting the efficacy by 2, 3 and even 4 times. I hope I got that right. For the first 2 months, I applied it day and night, and now, I reduced it to night time only. I apply this pre-serum after toner, followed by the rest of my skincare routine, such as serums and moisturiser.

How did my skin react to it? I started with pretty bad skin. I had bumps all over, little tiny white heads all over my chin and jaw line. I had stubborn pimples that wouldn’t go away completely, they’d come back at the same spot around my cheeks and forehead. Within the first 2 weeks, I noticed the white heads were somewhat ‘softened’ and extraction was made very much easier (it was nearly impossible before). The stubborn pimples came back with a vengeance! I stood firm, refrained from pinching and in about a week, they’d subside and then disappear. Yup, I would say the impurities that have all this while been suppressed started re-surfacing, but they would be gone, for good this time. All this happened within the first month. Is this part of the detoxification process? I don’t know… but I know that once the pimples are gone, they didn’t come back.

My skin can also go crazy due to hormones, but I noticed that since I’ve been on One Essential, I have less breakouts around that time of the month. Even when I do, I can honestly say that they clear up faster. My skin got a bit wonky after my 2-week vacation, but I’ve been home for 2 weeks, returned to my trusted skincare routine and everything is now stable. Pimples are all gone, save some marks which are going away quickly too. I never had much problems with fine lines on my face, but my skin is now smoother to touch. Somehow, foundations sit much better too.

Below is a before after comparison. Photos are unprocessed, and there is a difference in lighting. The before photo was taken before I started using the samples, that was mid March. You might not be able to see it clearly, but there were little bumps on my jawline, and of course you’d see little pimples, marks, freckles and pigmentations. The after photo was taken before I left for Australia. So the gap would be about 6-7 weeks, give or take. Other than the fact that pimples were gone, I also noticed that much of the marks were gone too. I was surprised to see that some lighter and smaller freckles were gone too! Might be the effects of my Diorsnow Essence though.

As for the Eyes Essential, I apply it before Estee Lauder ANREye and the first obvious thing I noticed is less puffiness. Dark circles are also significantly reduced. Fine lines around my eyes are still there but my eyes feel and look more hydrated, for sure.

Now let’s talk about the price because I find that for Dior products, they work great but also at a great price. I have paid much more for products and treatments that did not work, so the price was worth it, especially when the results were quite significant. The One Essential costs RM430 while the Eyes Essential is priced at RM225. The serums last for a while because I’m 3 months into it, and I’m still on my first bottle. Also bear in mind that for the first 2 months, I used the serums twice a day. I am also using the One Essential Mask, but I’d save that for another time. I’m already 700 words in.

In short, worked fantastically on my skin! Expensive but I will repurchase. If anti ageing is your concern, I strongly recommend you pick up some samples and try it out for a week. It really does work and I love it to bits!

What skincare product works best for you? Is there anything else you’d like to know about this serum? Please feel free to ask!

Hahaha it’s nice to find something that works for you! ^.^ Congratulations are in order, woohooo!

    • Lily

Yay ! I’m really happy with this 🙂 I don’t have high expectations in case of disappointments but this is just awesome.

i can see a difference! i am worried tht one day the freckles will just bloom on my face 🙁 i have a mother freckle and have also zapped it before. it looks a lot lighter now and im hoping tht it stays that way forever

    • Lily

This works for sure. Maybe you want to try this just to maintain your skin condition. I heard about lasers and zapping of freckles but I’m afraid my skin will be too sensitive. A friend of mine did it and her skin is flawless now. So tempting! How did you find it? Satisfied with the results?

  • I’ve always used EL ANREyes for my eyes, but it’s nice to know this one works too, though a bit pricey. Does it have any fragrance?

    • Lily

There is a very light scent but it doesn’t bother my nose at all. It kinda disappeared before the product is absorbed anyway 🙂 The Eyes Essential boosts the effects of ANREye and the texture is so light, it’s easy to apply.

Hi lily, went to a make up class at the Dior Academy and were given two samples of these and cant wait to start using them!!!

    • Lily

Oh, that sounds exciting, the make up class. What did you learn? I hope you’ll find the One Essential as effective as I did! If you didn’t break out within a week, I suggest getting a bottle to try it out. I’m still using it, and my skin is only getting better! *fingers crossed so I don’t jinx myself* LOL 🙂

It was a how to have natural make up for going to work. Pretty basic but informative. No more red lipstick for work lol. It seems lipstick colour should be not more than 2 shades darker than your natural lip colour 🙂 have u tried Dior’s lip maximiser? Had collagen to make your lips like Angelina Jolie. :p

    • Lily

Hi Sheryl, yes, I tried the lip maximiser. Don’t know if it’s a must though. LOL! I still think red lips can be worn to work. True, it won’t be conservative work appropriate, but who says we must follow all the rules 24/7?? If it’s a bright red lippie, tone down the rest of the face. I think it’s still acceptable!
