Intensely Pigmented Lips with Shiseido Lacquer Rouge

Liquid lips. For those of you who are uninitiated, liquid lipsticks are no sheer glosses. They are liquid pigments for your lips and Shiseido Lacquer Rouge is inspired by Japanese lacquer artistry. I don’t have any write up from Shiseido for this but you can read Joey’s post for more info.

What I have here are from different spectrum of colours. BE306 Camel is a nude beige (described as simple chic beige) and RD607 Nocturne is dark blood red (described as an intense dark red, suggestive of evening). These liquid lipsticks are applied using the doe foot applicators. The applicators are little and stiff so you can have more control in shaping your lips.Β The liquid is very creamy, and the texture is quite thick too. These lacquer rouges are crazy pigmented! Even the nude beige colour goes on opaque on my lips in just one coat. In fact, one coat is all you need!

For me, Camel is great for a nude wash of lips, paired with dark smokey eyes. This colour doesn’t wash me out and it definitely doesn’t make me look like a zombie. Actually, this applies like caramel on my lips. Nocturne is a little tricky to apply. I guess it’s true for all dark lippies. I’m glad to report that these liquid lippies don’t feather or bleed when worn alone. There is a glossy finish but if you want a matte finish, all you have to do is blot is out. I’ve also worn it as a stain, and these babies last a loooooong time. The colours didn’t fade on me for a good 4 hours, without eating of course. After food, the colour fades to an uneven stain which is not very flattering. By the 5th hour, my lips started feeling dry and uncomfortable. Below are the swatches. Lip swatches will be done using FOTD πŸ™‚

There are a few other shades I’m eyeing, like RS312 Sunstone (Asia exclusive), but I’m also curious about Guerlain’s version. So I’m gonna wait it out and make a decision later. Shiseido Lacquer Rouge retails for RM95 each and should be available at your nearest stores already. If not, they should be available in September.

Oh, before I forget, here are the ingredients for you. Please click on the photo to enlarge it.

Have you seen this, or have you played with them already? What are your thoughts on liquid lipsticks, or do you prefer the good old bullets?

Edited: If you want to see the FOTDs, here are the links <Nocturne> <Camel>

They’re so pretty! But I wonder how these compare to the Guerlain liquid lipsticks, heh heh heh. I’ll try to see which one I should save up for.

    • Lily

Well, I would definitely expect much more from Guerlain. One is RM 95 and the other RM 161. Anything less than Shiseido would be a let down!

  • Omg, great that you bought these! I”ve been eyeing the bright pink colour and will probably buy it this week. Liquid lipsticks are my favourtie thing next to lipsticks. Can’t wait to see them on you!

    • Lily

I was attracted to the bright pink too! There are 4 Asian exclusive shades that I quite like. Waiting for testers so I could swatch them πŸ™‚

  • I am in love with the look of these. I ALMOST came home with RD203 Portrait , but I went with the more daring Paresse Guerlain Rouge G L’extrait instead. Still want this one though! And surprisingly love that caramely-brown one you have too! Definitely need to check that out

    • Lily

Oh yes, I’m attracted to Guerlain’a Luxure. You should try this beige. It’s surprisingly opaque πŸ™‚

  • I think Camel will be perfect for a smokey eye! πŸ˜€ it’s such a beautiful nude. It looks like a concealer! πŸ™‚

    • Lily

Hi Kumiko Mae, thanks for dropping by! I never thought it looked like a concealer but now that you mentioned it, it does look a little like darker liquid concealer. Lol! You’re right though, this shade is perfect for dramatic smokey eye

      • Kumiko mae

πŸ™‚ i think camel as a name suits it so well πŸ™‚

  • Sunny @ Mostly Sunny

I’ve seen these around and swatched one I think. I’m not that big on lippies, so I don’t feel compelled to grab one right now. I did try a Guerlain one on and like the formula though!

    • Lily

Funny you say that. I have never been a lipstick person, until I started blogging. In fact, I never wore red lipstick before I started blogging! Now, I find myself strangely gravitating towards bolder lips. Hhmmm…

  • Liyeun

Finally a new lippie post! Hahaha…. Thanks for doing this new ones from Shiseido, cos I read from Rouge Deluxe that these lippies are quite drying on lips. I was contemplating if I should get it, and now I know I’m not going to! The shades are pretty, but you have helped me save up for sth else this time around! Hehehe….anyway, just to share with you, I wasn’t into lipsticks until I delivered my first child 6 months ago. It was during confinement that I started searching for blogs to read, and there I found your and Paris’…. And that’s it! I’m hooked and I have to read your posts everyday…. -.-”

    • Lily

Aaw, Liyuen, that’s so sweet and thank you very much! What are you eyeing? The Guerlain one? I read good things about that πŸ™‚

      • Liyeun

It’s my pleasure and thanks for all ur posts too, very realistic! Anyway, I hv been eyeing for guerlain’s, but such a price will be killing me cos I noe I would want more than 1! I just bought Peach Boy duo blush and I’m loving it! In my hubby’s opinion, he felt why wud one need to fork put rm161 just for a lippie? I understand where he’s coming from but a woman can never get enough of lippies. Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhh…. And the Dior Nude is also coming next month!!!!! Ok ok back to guerlain, which shade caught ur eye? I got mine on envie and colere!

        • Lily

LOL! I try to be as candid as possible. I’m not too much of a writer with dramatic flair… I got my eye on Luxure and Gourmandise. I’m waiting for some proper reviews, to see if they’re drying. These are permanents anyway, so there’s no hurry! Oh yes, I’m also anticipating the arrival of Dior Nude. In fact, there are testers at counters already (but not displayed), so I swatched a few. They are very lovely πŸ™‚ You know, it’s a good thing there is no Guerlain in Ipoh. Otherwise, my diet would be bread only…for one whole month!

          • Liyeun

Hahaha I don’t think Mr ChloeAsh will want his gorgeous wifey to only eat bread to survive one month!!!! I read a blog (forgotten its name as I stumbled upon it) that although the texture of Guerlain’s is comfortable, the shades aren’t special… I duno, maybe I hv to go to the counter again to swatch and see with my own eyes. I am also contemplating if I should get Nude’s compact powder or new liquid foundation. Maybe you cud do a comparison btwn the new liquid foundation with DiorForever? Hehehe…..

            • Lily

We’ll see… I haven’t received any news about the new foundation yet, and I’m planning to get a sample from the Dior counter I usually go to. They’re quite generous with samples πŸ™‚ Will keep you updated!
