Liquid lips. For those of you who are uninitiated, liquid lipsticks are no sheer glosses. They are liquid pigments for your lips and Shiseido Lacquer Rouge is inspired by Japanese lacquer artistry. I don’t have any write up from Shiseido for this but you can read Joey’s post for more info.
What I have here are from different spectrum of colours. BE306 Camel is a nude beige (described as simple chic beige) and RD607 Nocturne is dark blood red (described as an intense dark red, suggestive of evening). These liquid lipsticks are applied using the doe foot applicators. The applicators are little and stiff so you can have more control in shaping your lips. The liquid is very creamy, and the texture is quite thick too. These lacquer rouges are crazy pigmented! Even the nude beige colour goes on opaque on my lips in just one coat. In fact, one coat is all you need!
For me, Camel is great for a nude wash of lips, paired with dark smokey eyes. This colour doesn’t wash me out and it definitely doesn’t make me look like a zombie. Actually, this applies like caramel on my lips. Nocturne is a little tricky to apply. I guess it’s true for all dark lippies. I’m glad to report that these liquid lippies don’t feather or bleed when worn alone. There is a glossy finish but if you want a matte finish, all you have to do is blot is out. I’ve also worn it as a stain, and these babies last a loooooong time. The colours didn’t fade on me for a good 4 hours, without eating of course. After food, the colour fades to an uneven stain which is not very flattering. By the 5th hour, my lips started feeling dry and uncomfortable. Below are the swatches. Lip swatches will be done using FOTD 🙂
There are a few other shades I’m eyeing, like RS312 Sunstone (Asia exclusive), but I’m also curious about Guerlain’s version. So I’m gonna wait it out and make a decision later. Shiseido Lacquer Rouge retails for RM95 each and should be available at your nearest stores already. If not, they should be available in September.
Oh, before I forget, here are the ingredients for you. Please click on the photo to enlarge it.
Have you seen this, or have you played with them already? What are your thoughts on liquid lipsticks, or do you prefer the good old bullets?
