I’m Back with Dior Golden Savannah

I’m back from my hiatus albeit a short one 😉 I was debating what to write, and to take my mind off the cold steely surgical room, I shall talk about Dior’s 5 Couleur Eyeshadow Palette Golden Savannah. This palette warms my heart. I know you’ve read a lot about this, but hey, I still want to write about it. The FOTD will be posted shortly 🙂

I’m not going to talk much about it, because I’m sure you’ve read of ALL the raves, so I’ll just show you some pictures. Furthermore, my head is still a little foggy from all the drugs so this is like my lazy post 😉

To say it in a few words, this eye shadow palette has excellent texture. They are all buttery and pigmented (the above swatches are just one swipe using fingers). There is minimal fallout even with the darker colours. The shimmery gold (centre) might look chunky in the pan, but it is soft to touch. All the 5 shades can mix and match with each other without clashing. They are a beautiful harmony of colours that looks great across skin tones. I don’t know what to write without sounding absolutely biased, so yeah, I’m gonna keep it short.

As you’d expect from Dior, price is on the high side. I purchased this palette for RM200 and if you can still get your hands on it, I’d say go grab it. If you haven’t tried any Dior palettes before, this would be It. If you haven’t seen it in person, you Have to because pictures don’t do the colours any justice. OK, I’ll shut up now. Did you buy this? Or maybe you just don’t see what the hype is all about?

xoxo Lily

Wow they all are really pigmented and nice! Btw I hope you’re recovering

well from your surgery Lily 🙂

    • Lily

Thanks Hiza. I’m recovering well enough, I think 😉

  • I WISHED I could buy it, but it’s not available here, ugh. I’ve seen the Dior Holiday collection tho and they have some gorgeous palettes as well, so I might wait till then and hope they launch it here too. I love the shades, it’s right up my alley! Aaaw, what do I hear about drugs? Hope all is well! Will mail you soon! 😉

    • Lily

Oh, I saw the Dior Holiday collection too… so gold and sparkly 😉 I hope you get it too, but you can always call for CP! Yeah, drugs… I had appendicitis and had a surgery to get rid of it just a few days ago. But I’m allergic to painkillers so I have to endure the pain longer…Can’t wait for your email!

  • Liyeun

Welcome back! Miss ur posts but hey, you gotta rest well first, no? Wish u speediest recovery!

    • Lily

Thank you Liyeun… I’m hoping to schedule more posts when I’m up to it 🙂

  • Lady MaDe

Hopefully they will sell it at the online shop of Sephora!!! Can’t wait to have my own palette of these… They are looking soooooooo incredible beautiful!!! Exactly my style!

    • Lily

Hi Lady MaDe, thanks for dropping by! I hope you’ll get it too… but you should also keep an eye on strawberryNet because they do carry some older limited edition stuff 😉 I do love this palette. I’ve been waiting for it for a few months. LOL!

  • Claire

What a nice balanced palette. I swatched it and (sadly) I have too many dupes already but i really was tempted to get this one, also, I am not a big fan of Dior e/s. I really like their colour stories but I wish they would improve the texture D:

    • Lily

Hi Claire, yeah, I know what you mean by dupes… and to each her own because I love the texture of this palette. I like that it’s soft and buttery without unnecessary fallouts. I like it just as much as Chanel single eye shadows. It says much more than the Chanel quads that we get here (the baked versions). My experiences of those palettes were hard and unpigmented 🙁

      • Claire

I have to test this palette a second time, haha. how funny, I like baked formula (and I know, very very few people like the baked formula, lol), I only use it wet (I have no problems with pigmentation then or staying power, fallout) :). I think the last Dior palette that was released in summer had a way more refined texture than the other ones. I really hope they become even smoother in future, because I really like the colour stories they provide 🙂

        • Lily

Aah, so you use it wet to get the baked formula working better. I’m almost always afraid of using them wet because once I do it once, I’ll have to use it wet every time. Well, except for Estee Lauder gelee eye shadows. I think I should give my Chanel quads another try – this time wet 😉

  • Glad you’re better Lily!!! 😀

And lovely pictures. I really, really want this and had to decided to purchase it but changed my mind at last minute. Now I’m regretting that

    • Lily

Hi Becca, I think there will be lots of opportunities for you to make up for it… with different palettes maybe? LOL! I saw some photos of the holiday collection, and some of the palettes looked somewhat similar… so we’ll see!
