Guerlain Turandot Is Even Better Than I Thought

Guerlain Turandot has been on my mind as much as Guerlain Liu palette. I was a little hesitant because I didn’t know how the colours would work on me, but what the heck, I was just drawn to it. It would be my first eye palette from Guerlain, and spoiler alert: it didn’t disappoint!

I don’t have much to talk about the packaging. The suedette pouch is the same as Liu Lip and Eye Calligraphy palette and while I absolutely love that packaging, I’m a little unaffected by this. It’s just a gold case which holds lots of finger prints. The case, to me, is not important because I am absolutely attracted to what’s inside.

Left is a gold that doesn’t pull too warm on me. I was surprised especially when I thought this palette might be too much on my warmer skin tone. I was expecting it to lean orange but it doesn’t. Great news for me! Top centre is a brownish muddy burgundy and bottom centre is a reddish burgundy that might look bruised if not careful. Right is a beautiful dark brown taupe shade. I’m a sucker for taupes. All 4 colours complement each other extremely well, and when worn, they all look very put together 🙂

Below is a photo of how I wore it to work the other day. It looks done up but not over the top. There is definitely makeup on, but it doesn’t attract too much attention. It looks a little more golden and vivid in real life. The photo here seems muted somehow.

Eye colour placement:

Gold (left) on entire lid. Light burgundy (centre, top) on socket. Dark burgundy (centre, bottom) on outer corners. Taupe (right) on bottom lashline and half of upper lashline to give a little more definition.

Other products worn on my face:

Lancome UV Expert BB Complete Shade 1 then set with Dior Light Amplifying Face Powder, Estee Lauder Double Wear Smudgeproof Mascara, Guerlain Rouge G Brenda. No blush because I was really hot that day and I knew I would be flushed anyway. I didn’t want to add more redness to my face.

I’m sure you have seen quite a few reviews online. If you were hesitant because you thought it might be too warm, well, it’s not. This palette is extremely wearable, and whether to play it up is entirely up to you. I’m happy I got this palette, as the texture is a dream to work with. Retailing at RM193, this palette is expensive but for the amount of eye shadow in there, it’s not too bad.

Have you seen this? Did you get any of the Guerlain Holiday release?
