Guerlain Turandot Is Even Better Than I Thought

Guerlain Turandot has been on my mind as much as Guerlain Liu palette. I was a little hesitant because I didn’t know how the colours would work on me, but what the heck, I was just drawn to it. It would be my first eye palette from Guerlain, and spoiler alert: it didn’t disappoint!

I don’t have much to talk about the packaging. The suedette pouch is the same as Liu Lip and Eye Calligraphy palette and while I absolutely love that packaging, I’m a little unaffected by this. It’s just a gold case which holds lots of finger prints. The case, to me, is not important because I am absolutely attracted to what’s inside.

Left is a gold that doesn’t pull too warm on me. I was surprised especially when I thought this palette might be too much on my warmer skin tone. I was expecting it to lean orange but it doesn’t. Great news for me! Top centre is a brownish muddy burgundy and bottom centre is a reddish burgundy that might look bruised if not careful. Right is a beautiful dark brown taupe shade. I’m a sucker for taupes. All 4 colours complement each other extremely well, and when worn, they all look very put together πŸ™‚

Below is a photo of how I wore it to work the other day. It looks done up but not over the top. There is definitely makeup on, but it doesn’t attract too much attention. It looks a little more golden and vivid in real life. The photo here seems muted somehow.

Eye colour placement:

Gold (left) on entire lid. Light burgundy (centre, top) on socket. Dark burgundy (centre, bottom) on outer corners. Taupe (right) on bottom lashline and half of upper lashline to give a little more definition.

Other products worn on my face:

Lancome UV Expert BB Complete Shade 1 then set withΒ Dior Light Amplifying Face Powder, Estee Lauder Double Wear Smudgeproof Mascara, Guerlain Rouge G Brenda. No blush because I was really hot that day and I knew I would be flushed anyway. I didn’t want to add more redness to my face.

I’m sure you have seen quite a few reviews online. If you were hesitant because you thought it might be too warm, well, it’s not. This palette is extremely wearable, and whether to play it up is entirely up to you. I’m happy I got this palette, as the texture is a dream to work with. Retailing at RM193, this palette is expensive but for the amount of eye shadow in there, it’s not too bad.

Have you seen this? Did you get any of the Guerlain Holiday release?

xoxo Lily

  • i love it! I have been thinking about this one too, I just lole the colors. They look great on you, very wearable. I know the bergundy has a tendency to make me look worn, but it look gorgous!

    • I thought the burgundy shades will make me look bruised, but when all these colours are worn together, it’s very pretty πŸ™‚
      Are you gonna get it?

      • So much $$$ maybe Santa?

        • Secret Santa! You never know πŸ™‚

  • Looks nice on you. The cranberry shade didn’t work for me, so was quite comfortable giving it a pass but the gold in this palette is very pretty!

    • Thanks Paris πŸ™‚ The gold is absolutely gorgeous! So is the taupe. And the other 2 shades work surprisingly well on my skin tone. Whew! Haha!

  • i was very much attracted to this palette but passed thinking the colors are too warm for me. maybe i am wrong! they look very neutral and feminine on you. πŸ™‚

    • That was what I thought, that it would be too warm for me! I’m glad I got it, for sure πŸ™‚ The gold gives a beautiful glow to the eyes.

  • wow, the shades look so great on you! i thought the burgundy would make me look bruised or tired but maybe i ought to look at this..!

    • Yes you should have a look. This is definitely more wearable than my last fotd but I’m thinking this palette can be played up nicely too πŸ™‚

  • gin

Nice!!! Haha, I am attracted however to the Guerlain Rouge G Brenda u wore!! Nude lippies!!! Can u review on it please? ^^

    • Hi Gin. I have taken some pictures for Brenda. Review should be up soon πŸ™‚

  • Tracy@Beauty Reflections

Look at your GORGEOUS cheekbones and face! SO PRETTY on you!!
I’m hoping I can get this one soon, as burgundy is one of my fave shades at the moment!

    • Aww, thanks Tracy πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to see how it looks on you! Your red hair will make this pop even more I reckon

  • Wow this works well on you! I passed on this one because I really wasn’t sure I could make the colors work, and now I might have to take a second look!

    • You should take a second look! If all else fails, go play with Teri’s first. LOL!

  • Claire

I thought the same: this palette is may be way too warm for me. But I love it, along with Liu, my best purchases this year. Since I got them, I am wearing those palettes a lot. I think the colours look very nice on your skintone. What I like about this palette: you can do dramatic looks but also very subtle (I just love the pigmentation there). Ah, Guerlain, I love you πŸ˜‰

    • You’re right. Guerlain hit the right notes this holiday. I have yet to post a FOTD for Liu palette! Have to get to it. Sooo busy for December but I’m anticipating. It’s gonna be fun πŸ™‚

      • Claire

It is a lot of fun, especially when you play a bit the the lipsticks there πŸ˜€ can’t wait for your FOTD!

        • Yes, I’m gonna have to do something about it today. Busy month!

  • Emmy

    Hi Lily,

The palette looks good. I’ve never bought anything from Guerlain before, where did you buy this from? Its December already, I hope its not too late.

    • Hi Emmy, thanks for dropping by. My friend got this for me at Isetan Gardens. It should be available at most Guerlain counters πŸ™‚

  • BooBooNinja

Hi Lily! I flush rather easily too, and I found my perfect everyday blush in Tarina Tarantino’s Neapolitan Lane. It doesn’t have a much pink in it and works perfectly with the tones in my skin to create a flush that’s not over-the-top. Do you have access to TT products?

    • Oh, I’ve read a lot about this product, mostly from Temptalia. Unfortunately, the brand is not available here πŸ™

      • BooBooNinja

Say the word, chickie, and I could CP it for you. πŸ™‚

        • Haha! I like the way you said it. I will definitely take it up one day. So tempting but I put myself on a realistic 2 month makeup ban starting yesterday. Lol!
