Femme Boulevard: A Pop Of Emerald

The Pantone Colour of the year is Emerald and we thought it would be fun to get in the groove of things. Let’s come up with a look using a pop of emerald! It can be wearable, it can be creative, it can be an editorial. I was thinking of something wearable, and then I saw this photo of the amazing liner! I could change the colour to emerald and kapow!

Then, there’s this Pinterest photo on my Inspiration board…

And of course there’s Larie’s post on the Elle Vietnam editorial.

Elle Vietnam

*pause* I’m torn. I don’t know which look to do… So I’m gonna leave it here for now, and come back a few days later to decide 🙂 So tonight is when the post should be up, and I am just editing the photos now. Makeup was done on a whim last night, at the last minute. I was going to do something similar to the Elle Vietnam editorial look, but I made a mistake, and changed the look completely. I used Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle liquid foundation on my face and NARS Orgasm as blush. I contoured using Chanel Notorious and powdered with Chanel Poudre Universelle. I had blemishes here and there, and concealed with Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. The strong light helped to wash out the marks, and just to let you know that my eyes are not usually this light. It’s the way the light bounced as well 🙂

On the eyes, I used Burbery Midnight Brown all over the lid. With a green liner, I lined my lower lash line, pulling it lower than usual. With L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Emerald Lame, I patted it on top of the liner and blended it to soften the line. I was going to end with this, to re-create the look above, but it looked a little weird on me. So, I started pulling the green on my upper crease as well. It started looking muddy, so I used Dior single eye shadow in Khol to darken the crease area before using Emerald Lame again on top of the black. This helps bring out the green so much more. I finished off with a thin line of winged out liner using Dior Diorshow Art Pen in Catwalk Pen (review up soon) and a few coats of mascara.

Lipstick is Revlon Super Lustrous 240 Sandalwood Beige topped with Lunasol Shiny Gold Beige Red Full Glamour Gloss.

Here is another shot, using another lip product.

For this photo, I didn’t use any gloss and replaced the peachy nude lip with something a little more punch. This is Guerlain Shine Automatique in 760 Lou-Ling. It is a sheer lipstick with burgundy undertones. It can be worn light and can be built up, but there’s a limit to it. This is the most pigmented it can get. Which look to you prefer? Just a change of one lip product can change a look. I think the first look is softer while the second is a little more mature, a little more femme fatale. Personally, I prefer the first one, with lighter lips 🙂

As usual, please check out with my fellow Femmes (<– Joey started it. LOL!), Joey and Teri have in store for you. They always have beautiful pictures, and they are gorgeous to look at. Until next month, stay beautiful!

  • OOOO LOOOOOVE! Your eyes really pop with this combo!

    • The combo definitely brought out more of the brown in my eyes 🙂

  • I love the inspiration pictures, so amazing! Your look is gorgeous as well, I’m in love with the green you used and the way you blended it into the look! Have a happy weekend hon! ^^

    • Thanks Teri. Happy weekend to you too!!

  • Wow, very very pretty! Editorial and wearable at the same time!

    • Aww, thank you dear 🙂 It could definitely be toned down even for a day time wear, I think!

  • Josephine

    Hi,
    First time commenting here.
I love the look, very nice and wearable too.

    • Thanks Josephine, and thanks for dropping by. Love comments 🙂

  • Claire

love those inspiration pictures! I think that emerald suits you very well 🙂 Lou-Ling <3 and that blush! love it xxx

    • That blush is my first NARS blush. Orgasm. Didn’t know about the ridiculous overpriced items in Australia, and got someone to buy for me there. My most expensive blush so far. Hahaha!

  • Gorgeous! I prefer with lighter lips too, it brings out your eyes more 🙂 The 2nd one though gives lots of drama!

    • I also think the change of lip colour changes the tone of the whole look completely. You could very well think I’m using different blush if I didn’t tell it’s NARS Orgasm all the same 😉

      • Gosh its true, the blush just goes and adapts with the lip colour! Nice idea, I’ve never actually checked out Nars orgasm (though super famous it is), looks like I might have to, oh no!

        • Haha! Yeah, Orgasm was certainly the It blush back then 🙂 You should try it and see how you like it!

  • Thanks for the link love, Lily! I love this look on you! I have that same L’oreal Infallible and I love it. I’m also in love with the last lip color you used – gorgeous!

    • Thanks Larie 🙂 Emerald Lame definitely pops on top of black. Guerlain Lou Ling is not too bad and when worn sheer, it is a brighter Burgundy.

  • Beautiful look! I love the shadow shade.. Suddenly, finally craving emerald 🙂

    • I think emerald will look good on you, Taylor. You should give it a try 🙂

  • Jasmine

Beautiful look and love the sheer lipstick, matches well with the emerald!

    • Thanks Jasmine 🙂

  • I like how the eyes turned out 🙂 I love Emerald Lame and I actually prefer the 2nd look with the deeper lip

    • Thanks Paris. The second look reminds me a bit of autumn too 🙂

  • Kiss & Make-up

Those are some amazing pictures. I especially love the third one. And your interpretation of it as well of course!

    • Beautiful models, they are. I always think how long their neck is!

  • That’s just soooo pretty Lily!1 I love your L’Oreal Infalibles in Emerald Green. It looks so sexy and I also love NARS Orgasm especially on the 1st picture, it looks fresh and I love the glow on your cheek 🙂

    • Thanks Meryl 🙂 The micro shimmer in the blush does give off a lovely subtle glow. I didn’t even highlight 🙂 Emerald Lame is a very lovely green. I like how it pops even more on top of a dark base.

  • Victoria

You look lovely Lily and my favourite is the 2nd look with the darker shade of lipstick 🙂

    • Thank you Victoria 🙂
