A 15-minute Quickie: A Fresher Face For A Night Out Right After Work

You have a wedding dinner to attend right after work. All you have time to do is to get a quick shower and probably touch up your face. Then you realize the eye shadows were a mess, the blush has faded and your face is in serious need of fresh foundation. I hate having to rush after a tiring day at work. However, I had no choice but to do the best I could.

The first thing I did was to freshen up my face. Some foundation already slid off my face after a 10-hour day, so the quickest for me was to run a cotton pad soaked with Bioderma Sensibio all over my face to get the dirt off. Since it’s just a short night out, I could get away with applying a light base and powder. I’d suggest choosing a product that is easiest to work with and in my case, I grabbed Bobbi Brown BB Cream and got my fingers dirty.

Then, I’d touch up my brows with Shu Uemura H9 brow pencil in Stone Grey. The light dusting of eye shadow was still there (Bare Escentuals Serendipity from Truth quad) so all I had to do was to go over it again. I wanted a more defined look for my eyes, so I added Chanel Taupe Gris at the outer corners of my eyes, blending it upwards along my crease. I already had mascara on, so I just used my Diorshow Artpen to create a thin line to make me look more awake.

To complete the look, I added a touch of warmth using Tarte Exposed on my cheeks, and swiped on Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel. All this in less than 15 minutes, with some time to spare for some photos.

What do you do when you head out for the night after a busy day at work?

xoxo Lily

Oh, damn. I need Taupe Gris now!! I LOVE the eyes, Lily!

    • Thanks Liz. Taupe Gris is not bad at all 🙂

  • Nice do and tips Lily. Love the eye do :). I like the Chubby Stick Intense Curviest Caramel. Hmm maybe I should get that lol.

I hardly head out after work. My working hours start from 7.30am and I left work at 5pm. So I spend my night at home blogging in my pyjamas lol. But when I do, I will probably touch up the base makeup, lips and blusher. Eye makeup on me normally stays put 🙂

    • Thanks Fiona. I’m jealous eye makeup stays on you! I don’t usually go out either. But sometimes, there will be the occasional dinners that can’t be avoided 🙂 Lately though, I’ve been removing all my makeup after work so I head straight to the gym. Trying to be healthy!

      • I powder my eyelid each time after I apply UDPP so the crease-free stay longer. On my lid UDPP alone doesn’t help.

“I grabbed Bobbi Brown BB cream and got my fingers dirty ” Lolz I enjoyed this sentence. I love your makeup especially the taupe eye shadow is perfect for night time .I have one request whenever you have some free time can you please do a step by step eye tutorial on this look.I like how dark shades like taupe look so soft on you I have seen different you tubers doing taupe eye makeup but they look a bit dark and heavy I would really like to learn how you manage to get such a soft look using this color.PLEASE!!!

    • When I have the time, I’ll be sure to slot this in. I’m glad you liked this look!

        Thanks 🙂

Hey sweetie, Is it me or is the foundation a wee bit light on your skin? There seems to be a very clear difference in the 2nd photo. Anyway, great tips and I really like the eyeshadow combo.

    • Lol sorry. Flash inconsistency! They were all taken within 5 minutes 🙂

  • Love the look, Lily! Can’t believe it’s such a quickie! Curviest Caramel really takes you everywhere eh 😉

    • I know right? It’s just the placement of Taupe Gris that made it look complicated 🙂 Curviest Caramel is quite obviously my go-to nude lip colour. Love the formula and shade!

  • Wow you are so gorgeous even after a 10-hour day, Lily! If that is just your quick refreshed face then I hate you! 😛 haha! But really though, I always feel like if I have somewhere to go immediately after school or work or something then i’d rather just wash my face completely and redo everything and be late then layer more makeup on over my already grody face. Even if I use my favorite cleansing water to freshen up, I would still feel too gross–I think it’s because I am just SO oily and after repeatedly sweating and blotting oil all day, I would just feel generally disgusting. 😛

    • LOL thanks Becca. The Bioderma takes most of the dirt and oil off, and that’s why I prefer something light for that few hours, then come home and do a thorough cleanse. I try not to do this often, because who knows… this might contribute to breakouts!! HAHA!

Ohh Tarte Exposed and Curviest Carmamel are two products I love everytime I see them! I tend to stay away from taupe, I’ll feel like it’ll be too cool or ashy on me since I’m pretty warmed toned, but this is so flattering on you. I may have to dip into the purpley-grey-browns in my UD Naked palette and give taupe another chance

    • You have to try it, Catherine. I am definitely warm toned myself, but I find cooler eye shadows work just as well 🙂 Exposed and Curviest Caramel pair very well, so I use them together quite often!

  • Claire

I love your quickies 😛 this is a look I actually really, really like on you. Especially the crease colour. You always seem to find the perfect blush for you >.<

    • Thanks Claire 🙂 It was the first time I used Taupe Gris on my crease, but I guess it worked! HAHA!

  • I put on lipstick, haha – that’s my day – to – night key! 😛

    • But Larie, you look gorgeous as it is… I need more help. LOL!

  • Lovely look! I love the eyes. If I get to go home before I night out I definitely wash my face and start over, if I can’t I usually just reapply cover-up and use a face mist then add more blush and perhaps a change of lipstick 🙂

    • I always try to make it a point to go home to freshen up. If it’s straight from work, then I’d be prepared and bring all the removers to work too!

  • Jennifer

Beautiful make up! Love your eyebrows 🙂 How you’d do that? I look like I have two fat worms above my eyes when I attempt to draw my eyebrows that I give up lol. Love your neutral look, still maintain the va va voom factor without excessive colours!

    • How do I do my brows? Umm… I fill them in with my Shu Uemura brow pencil. It takes lots and lots of practice, cotton buds to get rid of mistakes, but once you get it, you’ll get it. I have lopsided brows (one higher than the other) so I spend a lot of time trying to make my brows look even. Now, it’s easy because I’m used to it 🙂

  • Love LOVE your makeup! The eye look is perfect, I don’t think my eye shape would work with that color placement but it looks stunning on you. I think you did quite well for a 15 minute refresher! When I’m heading out for the night, it’s usually for a party at this stage in my life LOL. So to take it from day to night I add more liner and about ten billion coats of mascara 😛

    • Thanks MM 🙂 Ah, I miss college parties… however, I never wore makeup when I was that age. I’m a late bloomer!

  • Kiss & Make-up

Oooh I am jealous of you… I can’t look this good in 15 minutes 😉 You look great!

  • What’s a night out LOL????? LOVE the look on you. Marky stole my Taupe Gris—-need to get it BACK haha!

    • You can share! I’m waiting waiting for the toddlers to grow up so we can share makeup!

  • You look gorgeous and fresh faced! I should take notes from you ^^. I’m a bit helpless when it comes to this, I just stare at my oily face and freak out. I’m going to remove the oily parts next time and touch up from there. I really love the eyeshadow on you btw! ^^
