My Own Personalized Bobbi Brown Eye Palette

If you didn’t know, my first makeup love was Bobbi Brown. I dabbled with the now discontinued Kanebo T’estimo and then I discovered Bobbi Brown. It all started with a foundation. Then, the cult favourite gel liner (my first was Ink Black) then the pot rouges and then I had to have myself a neutral eye palette. I’m a neutral fiend, so when they came out with the palette system a few years back, I was totally sucked in. Mine is nothing exciting, given I was still a newbie at makeup (before blogging became part of my life) but I’d still like to show you.

Ta-dah! This palette of mine holds 6 eye shadows, and they are (left to right, top row, bottom row) Bone (matte), Beige (shimmer), Heather (matte), Forest (metallic), Velvet Plum (metallic), Saddle (matte). Bone is a great shade to highlight the brow bone. In fact, this is a back up I purchased while I was seriously hitting pan on the one with the old round packaging. Beige is good for an all over wash of barely there colour while Heather can be used on the crease to add some definition. Forest and Velvet Plum are great for a darker look while Saddle is great for smokey eye AND double up as a brow powder. I have no complaints about the wear or texture. They last on my lids for a good 5 hours before creasing (without primer) and they apply beautifully without fall outs. It is because I fell in love with these that I started to go nuts about other brands too.

Here are the swatches:

It’s been sitting in my drawer for the longest time now. You can see how pristine their condition still is. I think it’s time to use it and re-discover how I feel about them now that I’ve tried so many other brands! That would be fun. Do expect some FOTDs using this palette.

What would you have chosen if you were to pick your own 6-pan eye shadow palette?

xoxo Lily

I love looking at bloggers’ staples. You know, I’ve never swatched nor used a BB eyeshadow. I’m eager to see your upcoming BB FOTDs. Thanks for sharing, dearie.

ps I put Calypso Coral on my cheeks today. It’s gorgeous.
I’m still holding off a purchase. I’m strong!

    • Gah, I broke my ban. Suqqu! These BB es are great. Will come up with something from this palette for sure.

      • BooBooNinja

        Oooooh. Suqqu.
I can’t wait! Thanks or beig honest. 🙂
You’ve got to admit a five month ban is a long one. Just get back to it. xo

Sorry– typos are from my smart phone.

Thanks for sharing 🙂 Bobbi brown is my favorite for neutrals too! I have bone, velvet plum and several gel liners. I have a bunch of the premade palettes too. My favorite is the basics eye palette which has 4 of the best basics including the 2 eyeshadows mentioned.

    • Glad you like BB too. Their gel liners are really good. I’d fork out the money for this rather than trying something else that’s just not up to par!

  • Hannah

I’m not a neutral fiend but this palette looks really good! I especially like the look of Heather. I find colours like Heather perfect as the crease colour for Chinese eyes.

    • BooBooNinja

      I wouldn’t have considered a lavender-grey for my crease. Cool. 🙂

      • I know right? You can use it on your lids then pull it up to the crease. The effect is quite nice 🙂

    • Surprisingly, Heather works really well as a crease colour And a lid colour. Very versatile!

  • This is amazing! I get such anxiety about which colours to put in my custom palettes like this — I’m always trying to figure out the balance between usability and uniqueness.

    • When I picked out these colours, I wasn’t really thinking at all! Now I look at it, I think it’s quite a well balanced neutral palette 🙂

  • Parita

I am yet to try Bobbi Brown..eyeing their correctors! this is a beautiful palette…very wearable shades!

    • I haven’t tried their eye correctors before. If you do try it one day, let me know what you think of it, ok?

  • Ooo, my favorite shade here is definitely Velvet Plum – so pretty!! Great palette 🙂

    • Velvet plum is gorgeous!

  • Sarah

I love the look of Forest and Velvet Plum, but unfortunately I have not mastered the art of the smoky eye without looking like I got punched. *needs more practice*

By the way,how much was it for the whole palette, if you don’t mind me asking?

    • Ooh dear, Sarah. It’s such a long time ago, I really can’t remember. Individual shadows x6 and the price of the palette would set you back about 600?

      • Sarah

Ouch. I’m sure it costs more now. Thanks, Lily! 🙂

  • I love that green shade, it’s so pretty! The system of the palette is actually really need, clever way to see those names. They all look almost new! You should totally wear them a bit more :p.

    • I know. They are untouched for so long. I have to show them more love, for sure 🙂

  • You know I actually don’t own ANY Bobbi Brown products? It’s not that I don’t love them, they’re gorgeous, but BB is ridiculously expensive here in Australis and I just can’t bring myself to pay upwards of $100 for a foundation or $60 for a single e/s. Maybe on my next o’seas travel I’ll get one duty free. Your palette is gorgeous, I would have picked exactly the same colours. Velvet plum especially is just gorgeous!

    xx

    • Aww Lilit, it’s so sad the price of cosmetics is so high in Australia. Many bloggers I know write about the marked up prices. Can’t you get it cheaper online?

  • I like Foreset the most, but I think there is a similar shade in my Rich Caviar palette! I don’t really know what I’ll put in a customized BB palette. I own the Rich Caviar palette and there are many shades in there that I want in a customized palette. Perhaps I’ll switch Candlelight for something less metallic and call it a day 😉

    • Lol! Just stick to the rich caviar palette because it is gorgeous!

  • Claire

I think Bobbi has some pretty neutrals! Your palette seems perfect. I got the first BB e/s when they came in those round pots and wasn’t that much impressed but I recently got some products from them and quite like them 🙂 I also have Heather and it is an interesting shade, I am wearing it quite a lot. Can’t wait for the FOTDs <3

    • I had some old ones in the round pots too. I actually hit pan on them, if you’d believe. Things just went downhill from there. Lol! I also have one that’s a duo in a round pan.

  • Oh, that’s a great balanced neutral palette! I wanna see some looks, definitely! 😀

    • Will work on it 🙂

  • Hi Lily! Its weird most people fall in love in make up upon discovering Bobbi Brown. I was already in love with make up, and then I discovered Bobbi Brown, and its been an even bigger love affair since. hehe (trying to be poetic). I’ve had an eye on the Forrest and Velvet Plum for a while now. And now I see your swatches I will probably be edging towards their counter soon, oh no!

    • You have to get them. They go quite well together too!

  • Yaaay LOVE this palette–these are all shades I would absolutely choose to put in my palette as well. And Bobbi Brown was also my first makeup love. I tried the cream foundation first and fell in love and started playing with their shadows, gel liners, cream shadows, then eventually skincare. Of course I am obsessed with neutrals as well and Bobbi Brown is the quintessential brand for wearable, everyday, classic shades! 😀

    • I was obsessed with their pot rouges and then thought cream products don’t last as long a powder. Boy, am I wrong. They are great quality products and don’t dry out! This es palette is love. I must use it more often!

  • Liz

When I first started gravitating to high-end office appropriate makeup, it was all about Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown. That palette is perfect — better than any of the “naked” palettes out there IMO! 😉 I still want to put together customized palettes from BB!

    • I’d love to see what your palette will look like 🙂 Bobbi Brown does make great neutrals!
