This Coral Actually Looks Coral On Me!

Do you remember my most recent Lipstick Bandits post? I was going on about how I didn’t know what coral really is, so I picked a soft and safe shade from Chanel. Then, I read the others’ posts and finally got an idea. I had it in my stash all along! It’s by Revlon – the Super Lustrous Lipstick in Kiss Me Coral. DUH! It’s all in the name, isn’t it?

I don’t think I have to talk about the packaging much because I’m sure you know what a Revlon lipstick looks like. This lipstick doesn’t have too much slip in it, so if you have dry lips, I suggest applying some lip balm 15 minutes before putting on this lipstick. I don’t have much of a problem with my lips so I just apply it straight from the bullet. While it is not drying, the formula for this shade in particular isn’t too comfortable either. It goes on very pigmented but I find it patchy. Definitely NOT one of the best in this line. I didn’t have this experience with other shades, so it might just be this coral.

On my hand, it looks orangey-red, which I learned is coral, and it applies just the same on my lips. The coverage is opaque, and none of the pinks of my natural lip shone through. My skin tone usually pulls out all the pink, but this one just looks red and orange on me. I mentioned earlier that this lipstick goes on patchy. I tried it on top of a lip balm and experienced the same thing. So, I apply one layer, then blot, then apply another layer using a lip brush and buff it in like crazy. This way, it is less patchy and not noticeable. Here is how it looks on me.

While it looks bright and cheerful, I’m not sure I’m too happy with the formula of this one. Have you tried this? How does it work on your lips? I bought this for RM26.80 while it was on sale at Watsons.

  • Hahaha I love it on you! The colour is really pretty and brightening! And I love your smile in this pic! 🙂
Too bad it’s patchy though. You gotta find a better formula in this colour now! 😉

    • Thanks Tracy. Yeah, if the formula is better, this would be excellent!

  • This is a lovely shade of coral. It’s bright and cheery and what a lovely smile!

    • Thanks Taylor 🙂 Thought I’d smile once in a while in photos, since a reader commented I don’t smile enough. HAHAHA!

    I love corals!
I am currently testing The Body Shop Coral Splash.

    • I haven’t tried Body Shop makeup before. I should go have a ‘swatch’ one day 🙂

  • This color is beautiful on you, Lily! I love the Super Lustrous line, but that’s a shame Kiss Me Coral’s formula wasn’t up to par.

    • Thanks Tiffany. I love some other colours in this line too, and this is unfortunate. Guess I have to start looking elsewhere for this shade!

  • Claire

I don’t know what the definition of coral is D: but this shade looks lovely on you Lily. Too bad it goes on a little patchy though. I haven’t found my HG coral lipstick yet, all the colours I’ve treid pull either too pink or too orange on me xxx

    • Oh, I’d love to know what you pick, once you found your HG coral lipstick. I haven’t found mine either!

  • Kiss & Make-up

I can’t judge the formula because I haven’t tried this one, but the color sure looks good on you!

    • Thanks babe. Too bad about the formula on my lips, so I’m on a hunt for a better one! *whoosh*

  • liyeun

Nice! Now even coral looks good on u… perhaps u should try fushchia soon? Hehehe…. me cant wear any lippies for revlon though… too dry for me…

    • HAHA! Fuchsia eh? That sounds interesting… even though I probably won’t wear it anywhere else but on the blog >_<

  • Liz

I haven’t tried this formula of Revlon in a long time. Love the colour! Kind of tempted with a lot of drugstore shades right now but I think that I’ll try to be good and later go high end for once. 🙂

    • Yeah, I’d go higher end. At least the chance of it going wrong is a little less, but if it does, it hurts more though >_<
