Accessorize It: Vintage Earrings

One of the things I love besides cosmetics is accessories. That includes earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets and shoes. Note I left out bags. I am quite lazy in changing bags, and I use one for a long time and sometimes even to their death before I change my bag. I am definitely not a bag collector, but I do appreciate a good one.

For today, the first of my Accessorize It series, let’s talk about earrings. Vintage ones. I’ve had these for over 10 years and they are still going strong. I believe I was about 19 when my mom bought these for me. I used to wear these to death, because they were the first few earrings I owned and loved. I’ve had lots more but only a few make it to my permanent stash.

Do you have any accessories that made it through the years?

xoxo Lily

  • Yes, a very simple pair of gold earrings but I don’t wear them a lot anymore. In fact, I haven’t been wearing jewellery a lot at all. The ones you have look cute and will stand the test of time ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I went through a jewellery phase, then I went without. I’m slowly getting back to putting on something ๐Ÿ™‚ Gold earrings are timeless!

Pretty! The vintagey stuff I used to collect in my younger days was lockets. Many were gift from my mum too. I still have all of them now ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Oh, lockets are fun. They definitely bring back memories, huh?

  • Lovely pieces!

    • Thank you leimun ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hurray, a jewelry post! I love earrings. I always wear them. If I happen to forget or something, I feel really odd for the entire day!

    More jewelry posts, Lily!

    • I always have my studs on. I have 2 earrings on each side so sometimes I forget to change it up. Yup, will definitely plan for more posts like this ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Love the pink dangly ones that you modeled in the first pic! ๐Ÿ™‚ I was a bit late on the earring bandwagon, but once I had them my accessories craze just went up a notch. My favourite are a pair of wing earrings that I DIY-ed.

    • Oh, I have 2 DIY earrings too, and I love them because I made them myself ๐Ÿ™‚ Those are the most special ones!

    Pretty baubles!

Luckily I don’t have a jewellery addiction. I have some costume ones to liven up a wardrobe, but I rarely wear anything at all and have no real precious stones or any gold/silver. I spent the money on shoes and bags instead, lol.

    • I have a lot of costume jewellery too, mainly because the real ones are in the safe deposit box. It’s just very unsafe to wear real gold or diamonds out. Furthermore, I don’t have this kind of expensive addiction at all. Luxury makeup already set me back enough. LOL!

  • Hi Lily! They are gorgeous and maybe you should make more photos for your blog with earrings on! Iยดm really envious of everyone that can wear beautiful earrings like that because my ears are quite allergic and unless my earrings are made of the “bestest” of quality, they get itchy, red and even bleeding – even if only after one afternoon. To make up for it, I love bags ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Oh, sorry to hear that your ears are so sensitive. I used to only be able to take gold only. Even silver made my ears itch. I don’t know what happened after that, but I can wear anything now ๐Ÿ˜›

      • Then I want the same thing that happened to you to happen to me!

        • I hope so too! Fingers crossed ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Oh wow, 10 years! These are so pretty! Some of my earrings date back maybe 7 years or so. I can pretty much only wear silver (maybe gold too but I don’t own any) though. My skin is sensitive to everything else!

    • When I was younger, I could only wear gold. Something must have changed because my ears are not so sensitive now. Maybe my skin got thicker ๐Ÿ˜‰

I usually am drawn to very minimal, tiny jewelry but there’s something so charming about vintage pieces. They have so much character. I’m the same way with bags and jewelry – I will use them and use them until they die/break.

    • Glad I’m not the only one who uses a bag until it dies. LOL! I used to like delicate pieces, then I was introduced to chunky watches, and everything grew from there. Haha!

  • So Pretty! I don’t own any earrings any more-I actually grew my holes in. I just couldn’t be bothered with them any more. I love the looks of these though-they are versatile and I bet look as equally good with jeans and a t-shirt!

    • Thanks Tracy. They definitely go well with jeans and t-shirt. When I don’t feel like wearing any earrings, I usually wear very small studs to keep the holes. When I was younger, my mom would use the softest of a garlic stem to put in the holes, especially when they were acting up. It naturally disinfects the area and keeps any redness down.

  • I love these types of earrings and have quite a few pairs. Yours are lovely! I have a pair of pearl studs that have been my go to for probably over 20 years! Yep! I’m old! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Pearls are timeless and you are NOT old!!

  • Beautiful! You’re making me want to get my ears pierced LOL. Love that you’ve held onto these, the first pair in particular is so lovely. I have a set of really thin, etched bangles my mom gave me. I think my grandpa bought them for her when she was in college. All I’ll say is man she must have had tiny wrists because I outgrew them sometime in elementary school LOL.

    • Your ears aren’t pierced? I got my first piercing when I was 5 I think. Then, I got my second one later in life, in my 20s. Yeah, what is it with moms and their skinny bones? HAHAHA!

Such a lovely collection you have there! These dangling earrings were the most trendy accessory during my schooling years. It was really affordable to get a few set for RM10-15 from the dainty kiosks in the shopping malls. I remember getting a bag full of it when I was in Bangkok. They’re nowly safely stashed and not put to good use. What a shame. I love your look with these earrings, it does a great job to jazz up an outfit or look ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks Jennifer. I bought lots of dangling earrings during my school days too but none of them survived ๐Ÿ˜›
