Chanel Joues Contraste Ultra Rose for the Ultra Hip…

… or something. LOL! I picked this up a while back, before the makeup ban. I’ve just been pushing this back, because I don’t know if you can still get this. Apparently, some Chanel stores still carry it. I accidentally picked this up. Really. I didn’t plan it. I was browsing Frivole, and then this bright pop of pink caught my attention. I knew I had to get it even though I didn’t try it on. I knew it would look awesome!

Can you see how bright the pink is? Here. Another shot for ya.

Have I mentioned I love bright and bold blushes? Yeah, I think I have. As Chanel blushes go, this one is super pigmented. I have to use my Lunasol blush brush to apply because that brush is very soft and fluffy. It doesn’t pick up a lot of product and blends well. I really don’t recommend using a dense brush for Ultra Rose, unless you’re going on stage where you need people from 10 feet away see your rosy cheeks. With feathery light strokes and a very gentle hand, this blush looks absolutely amazing!

To my naked eye, this looks fuchsia, and leans cool. I took the liberty to swatch this alongside a few other pinks so you can have a better view of the shade. Ultra Rose is not as fuchsia as it is in its baked glory, and I wish it was. In the photos below, Ultra Rose is compared to MAC Cremeblend blush Florida, Bobbi Brown Pale Pink powder blush and MAC Well Dressed. They are all cooler pinks. There is also Chanel Tumulte which is a little warmer, but that’s to show you how sheer it is compared to Ultra Rose.

I think this was released late last year (correct me if I’m wrong) and it was part of a small collection that was released rather quietly. I read that this is a permanent in some countries so that’s also a reason I feel more comfortable telling you about this. I asked one of the Chanel SAs here and she said this was limited edition. Knowing how reliable they are from my few experiences, this might be a permanent for all you know.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post, because I’ll be back with more Dior Birds of Paradise soon. I want to get all the swatches out before the collection is gone 🙂
