Sunday Stash Shopping #7

Last couple of weeks were experimental. I tried mixing different lip colours, perhaps making bold colours more wearable in the day. I kept my face minimal, with neutral blush and eye liner, and just played with lippies. I’m still trying to use up this Shiseido base and I think there’s probably another month to go. I powder with the Diornude Sculpt Powder and I’m happy to show you some pan 🙂

face and eyes

One of my favourite neutral blushes has to be Tarte Exposed. My skin tone tends to make pinks more prominent, and since the pink in Exposed is minimal, it’s a great neutral for me. For the eyes, I’ve been enjoying Diorshow Art Pen and Estee Lauder Two Tone mascara.

Of my lippy combination experiments, these are a couple that I like. I love Shiseido Perfect Rouge Sublime on its own. It’s a complex colour that looks different on everyone. On me, it looks like a pink coral. I mixed it with Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Curviest Caramel and I get a great nude coral. Guerlain Gigolo is a dark bold plum and it can be a bit too dramatic for a conservative office environment. I mixed it with Revlon Mauve It Over and voila! I get a subdued work appropriate colour that is mauve beige. Interesting!

Here, I am wearing Shiseido Sublime on its own, experiment 101 and experiment 102.

Do you mix and match and get your customized lip colour? What’s your favourite? I hope you enjoyed this post! It was fun experimenting 🙂

  • Oooh, all of those lip colours look lovely on you! My mom likes to mix and match her lipsticks a lot more than I do…I try to on occasion, though! But then I think about how I’ll have to carry around two to touch up, lol.

    • You don’t have to, Larie. You can just carry one and change the lip colour then! It’s even more fun 🙂

  • Jennifer

I love how Shiseido Sublime look on you 🙂 Thanks for the such beautyrific tip of mix and match lipstick shades.

    • Thanks Jennifer 🙂 Shiseido Sublime is really pretty!

  • I love Exposed, it’s such great shade. Loving the lippy mix. I don’t really mix my lipsticks but I do play with the finish, by adding a gloss or just lightly applying it for the look of a stain.

    • I’m slowly getting the hang of adding glosses… got hooked on Dior ones 🙂

Ooh I’m a bit intrigued by the striped Shisiedo powder. I went back and forth about whether to purchase Tarte Exposed or NARS Madly forevvverrr… I finally recently went for NARS Madly (and love it) but I still want to pick up Exposed someday

    • I have NARS Madly too! On me, Madly is more orange and Exposed is more pink. Both are great neutrals 🙂

  • Love this post! Mixing lippies is fun! I love doing that too, but using different lip liners actually! I gotta get that Curviest Caramel-it’s so pretty every time I see it on you!

    • Thanks Tracy. You have to get Curviest Caramel. It’s such a versatile shade, I always pop it on when I don’t know what to wear.

  • Liz

Ahhh, you wear all those lip colours so well. And the pan action on that Dior powder is HOT. 😉 😉

    • It’s HAWT alright! I was so excited when I saw that metal pan… woohoo!

  • sataa

The combination of Gigolo+ Mauve it over looks so pretty on you.I also sometimes mix 2 different shades of lip colors to achieve my desired shade

    • It’s fun mixing and matching, isn’t it? I’m glad I would tame the boldness of Gigolo. Finally, I can wear it more often 🙂

  • Liyana

I always mix my lip colours. It has become a habit. And i think it’s really rare that i only wear one colour. It’s either too bright or too pale, so i had to mix it. But i think it’s just my mindset. 🙂

    • Really? That’s awesome! You definitely get more out of the lippies once you mix them… a customized shade that others don’t have 🙂

  • Oh wow–Sublime is so…well, sublime on you, Lily!! (I’m so lame, I know :P) Really though, the color is nice and bright but wearable and really perks up your face! Oh and WHY are Exposed and Curviest Caramel STILL not mine?!!

    • Thanks Becca. You have to get Curviest Caramel first. I think it looks good across skin tones! It’s such a universal shade 🙂

  • Kiss & Make-up

Definitely a fun post, I love a little experimenting as well 🙂

    • Awesome 🙂 What’s your favourite lip experiment?

  • Sublime is sooo pretty on it’s own. Love the mix and how it changes. Curviest Caramel, I will just have to get that one. 🙂

    • Thanks Icaria. You have to get Curviest Caramel. It’s a great shade!

  • Oh hey, look at that layering fun! I seldom layer purely because I am SO lazy. I try to find a shade I like and call it a day! Sometimes when the lipstick I pick out is a bit too bold to coordinate with the rest of my makeup, I layer something like Dior Incognito over it. I guess I can totally use Curviest Caramel for that purpose too!

    • Thanks Sunny. I don’t do that very often, but I think it’s a great way to get more wear out of bolder shades. I should try Incognito with some bolder shades too!
