Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Sticks For Rays Of Summer

You would have noticed that in the last few months, we have been getting a surge of cream eye shadows, in sticks. I guess they have been around for a while, from Laura Mercier caviar sticks to some limited edition launches by MAC. Recently though, we see more of them, from Clinique, Chanel, and Bobbi Brown. I have two to show you today, and they are Golden Bronze 9 andΒ Sunlight Gold 10.

BB eye sticks

The Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Sticks do remind me of the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks in size. I like that the shade of the cream shadows are shown at the tip of the pen, so there is no need to open it to see what colour you’re getting. Sunlight Gold is a sheer pale gold that is shimmery, borderline glittery. It wears as a highlight, or as a wash of shimmer on the lids. I actually love to use this on my lower lash lines because it brightens a look almost immediately. On my unprimed lids, it does crease after a few hours but it stays the whole day on my lower lash lines.

Golden Bronze is a metallic bronze with a hint of olive. In different lights, this shade can change from a light to dark bronze, and on the lids, it looks dimensional even on its own. This shade is very pigmented and lasts much longer than Sunlight Gold. Without primer, I can wear this for 6 hours before slight creasing at the fold of my lids, but the pigmentation remains strong. When I add powder eye shadows on top of this, the staying power doubles up. I wear this early in the morning, and by the end of a long work day, the colours on my eyes still look great, albeit a little faded.

I like that these shadow sticks are small enough so I can apply it close to my lower lash lines without smudging my entire eye bag (!!). It is creamy and glides on, applying evenly without any tugging or patchiness. You can see the swatch on my hand in the photo below – 2 passes.

Here is how they wear ALONE on my lids and lower lash lines, with 2 layers of mascara. You can see that while Sunlight Gold is sheer, it does brighten my eyes very nicely. I love this look with pink cheeks and red lips. Golden Bronze is a tad darker, and looks great with warmer blush and bronzer. I also like to wear Golden Bronze on my lids, and Sunlight Gold on my lower lash lines. For more definition, just add black liner, or smoke it out by smudging the black pencil liner. All this can be done using fingers. Definitely a time saver when it’s one of those crazy days!

Both have been in my stash for about a month and I’ve been using both very regularly. I love that they are very easy to use, and the colours just go well with anything. You can purchase these at Bobbi Brown counters nationwide for RM90 each and while these 2 are limited edition, there are more shades for you to choose from. I think Violet Plum and Golden Pink (permanent) look really good too. Have you tried this?

Thanks for the review, I love the bronze color. I use and love bobbi brown’s cream eyeshadow in the pot, these seem much more convenient πŸ™‚ is the stick version as long lasting?

    • Hi Jan, Just like the cream shadows in the pot, the metallic and cream colours are longer lasting than those glittery ones. So, I’d say the wear time is comparable πŸ™‚

  • Sunlight Gold looks amazing on your lower lash line! I love it! I might actually take a look at this even though it’s Bobbi Brown LOL. πŸ˜‰

    • LOL! Yes, you have to try this. I think it brightens the undereye area without being overboard πŸ™‚

  • These cream shadow sticks are Beautiful! They glide on so smooth and last all day!! Worth every penny!!

    • Glad you like them too, Emma!

  • Nida Moughal

Golden Bronze is such a nice shade.

    • It is, isn’t it? It’s so easy to use too!

  • I love Golden Bronze on you! I have Violet Plum, but it doesn’t blend as easily as I’d like it to (I need to bust out a brush. Fingers should suffice for a good formula for me, because I’m this lazy). It does hold up really well though!

    • Oh, thanks for the heads up on Violet Plum. Golden Bronze is so easy to blend, even with fingers. Yeah, I have lazy days too (which is most of the time!). Heh πŸ˜€

  • Liz

I might have swatched these, but they’re all blurring together in my head now. Guess it’s just a matter of time before I pick up one or more at some point though!

    • I read some inconsistent reviews, but I think it’s due to the particular shade as well. Creamy and metallic shades do much better than glittery ones πŸ™‚ If you were to get one (or some), I’d love to read about what you think!

      • Liz

Oh, Bobbi Brown can’t do glitter for life, lol.

        • You’re so right. Glitter is far from her forte that is natural…

  • I love both of these on you! Golden bronze is definitely my fave and the gold makes a beautiful highlight. These eye pencils really wear amazing. I tried one from Mally that was long-lasting as well. Really great for this heat!

    • I haven’t tried anything from Mally before… these eye shadow sticks are really growing on me πŸ™‚

  • Do you like these better than the Laura Mercier version? I’m testing that one out now!

    • Bobbi Brown wears longer on me for sure! Perhaps you could try one and compare it too πŸ™‚

      • oooh good to know, i’ll have to go check out the colors again. I remember not seeing a color i liked when these first came out, but i love the laura mercier sticks and shadow sticks in general πŸ™‚

        • These definitely last longer than the caviar sticks, and these don’t crease either (the metallic ones anyway). You have to check it out. You’d like this too!

  • Lily, you are so freaking hilarious! I see no “eye bag” to speak of! The Sunlight Gold really does brighten and look LOVELY! I love it!

    • Thanks Kristen. Glad you found it funny. LOL! Sunlight Gold is really really nice. You gotta try it πŸ™‚
