NUXE Rêve de Miel Changed My Perception About Lip Balms

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm with Honey and Precious Oils is not your ordinary lip balm. My experiences with lip balms have been nothing but less than ordinary. I’ve tried some from Maybelline, SebaMed, Nivea and a few others I forgot. They are all lip balms in a stick that are oily on my lips. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balms are pretty good, but to me, that’s also makeup. So is Dior Lip Glow, lip care and makeup in one. This, however, is NOT makeup but total lip care. It nourishes, repairs, soothes and protects. I never knew how soft one’s lips can be until now.

And all this, I thank Kristen from Glambunctious for recommending this to me 🙂 Go check out her blog!

First of all, let’s talk about the packaging. It reminds me of an eye cream. Maybe it’s just me because I don’t use lip balms often, but I thought lip balms usually come in a stick or in a tin. This one comes in a sand blasted glass jar, something new to me. Then, the smell. I was initially hesitant to try this because I associated Nuxe with jasmine scent from this oil and a few skincare items I tried. I really don’t want to TASTE it too! I was pleasantly surprised that there is NO JASMINE whatsoever in this. In fact, I smell honey and citrus. I just love the combination because it reminds me of my favourite cleansing balm!

Then comes the texture. It is not the super emolient and greasy traditional lip balms I’ve tried. This one looks like a paste. A little sandy like perhaps really really saturated and concentrated Manuka Honey. Or if you’re Malaysian, you might associate this with gula melaka paste. Only a tiny bit is needed for my lips and instead of swiping it on using my fingers, I like to dab and press it in with my ring finger. The paste like consistency will melt into the heat of your lips. While your lips feel moisturized, it never looks greasy. In fact, my lips look velvety after application of this lip balm. AH-MA-ZING!!!!!!

nuxe lip balm action

I’ve already applied the Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm all over my lips in the photo above. Do you see any shine or grease? Nada! I just have really soft baby lips and it’s a winner. My 4 and 6 year olds love this as well. Chloe has drier lips so I make sure she applies this before she sleeps. I still remember the first time she tried it. She woke up the next morning, ran to me and said, “Mommy mommy! My lips my lips! They are soooooooooooooooooo soft!!!”.

Here’s the list of ingredients if you’re interested. There are honey, plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence. Nuxe is also committed to avoid mineral oils in their products.

It says on the box “Effectiveness test conducted in conditions of extreme Canadian cold”. I’m not sure how extreme Canadian weather is, but from what I know, it can be literally freezing! If it’s good enough for them, it sure is good enough for me. Nothing but praises for this lip balm concentrate. I think it’s RM68 (for 15g) well spent.

I don’t have dry lips and never felt the need to put on lip balm, but this has definitely changed my thinking. In fact, I enjoy my nightly ritual with both Chloe and Ashlyn, sitting on the bed, patting in our lip balms. LOL! Have you tried it? You can check out Nuxe’s website for other products if you’re keen 🙂 <click here>

  • LOL the extreme Canadian weather they tested in is Vancouver and that’s TEMPERATE as far as Canadian cold goes HAHA. They should have come where I live to test-it can get to be -45C in the winter here!
Other than that silly thing, I love this lip balm too-have been using it for years!

    • -45C? I can’t imagine… I’ve experienced +45C though. Feels like you’re in an oven!
But seriously, if it’s good enough for you in Edmonton (right?), then it says a lot 😛

      • Actually, it’s not quite enough here to tell you the truth. It’s ok and better than other things, but my lips are still dry so, yah-I think that there’s really nothing that can help living here LOL!
And I’ve experienced +45C too-it can get that hot here as well!

        • Goodness Tracy. I’m scared of your hometown. HAHAHAHA!

          • LOL welcome to Canada.

            • Liz

It’s nicer in Toronto. Don’t go to Edmonton. 😉

              • Lol! Ok if I visit, I’ll go to Toronto first 😉

            • I haven’t been but will keep that in mind should I visit one day!

  • Have heard many many good things about this product and Nuxe in general but am still not sold on wearing lipbalm because I think they create a dependency. That said, it’s just my random mind at work and I don’t deny it’s usefulness in cold, dry weather when lips almost always chap! >.<

    • I never thought about dependency, or if it actually will create one 😛 All I can think about is how soft my lips feel without any greasiness. LOL!

  • Oh baby! +45°C in summer & -45°C in winter, we got that too in Montreal & this little jar doesn’t leave my night stand! Atm I have this horrible cold wi fever & it’s the only thing that soothes my lips. I’m not a fan of the jar but don’t dip my finger in it, I use the tip of my nail. Good that you didn’t get the stick, it’s just not the same, almost drying. Sooo glad you like it too. 🙂

    • I’m not too concerned about dipping my fingers in, since it’s for personal use. I suppose using a little spatula to scrape some product out might be even more hygienic, but I can’t be bothered. HAHAH!

  • Aaargh I think I need to get this STAT! My lips have been really dry lately and nothing seems to work. I was devastated when Sephora stopped stocking Jack Black lip balms, so maybe I’ll give this one a shot. 🙂

    • You should try this then, Laura. Then let me know how you like it!

  • Liyana

Wow, looks interesting. Do you think this will be a good lipstick base?

    • Hi Liyana, this definitely works as a base. You might want to let it sit for 15 minutes before applying lipstick though.

  • I used the stick form of this (still have it) and I don’t love it…I think I”m going to try the pot.

    • I don’t think we have the stick form here though. Yes, do give it a try and hope you like it!

  • I love this lip balm too. I’m saving it for winter when my lips crack and peel like crazy.

    • Wow seems like many people like this. Glad I found out about this too!

  • I was disappointed the first time I tried Reve de Miel Lip Balm. I thought the texture was very thick, that it could be gritty, that it looked cakey. All of these things are true to some degree, but it is still the best lip balm.

    • I agree with the texture. That’s why I find it is best applied with a patting motion. Doesn’t feel as gritty and it melts nicely on the lips.

  • This is my new favorite lip balm. I received it as a gift from Paris. It actually plumps my lips and soothes. It is great under any lipstick or gloss. I will never be without this lip balm again.

    • Another fan! Awesome stuff 🙂

  • I’m glad you dig this one, Lily! I’m on my third pot now, and I really haven’t tried anything that can replace it! It’s very reasonably-priced here as well, which is a bonus!

    • Sounds like many French brands are more reasonably priced where you are, compared to where I am! Same for caudalie, eh? Perhaps it’s the shipping and tax? I wonder…

  • Haha if kids say it.. Then it’s true! I’ve heard so much about this one but you sealed the deal.. I’m buying this next time I’m at the pharmacist. Especially with Winter time nearing.. I need to be prepared!

    • Oh great! My job to enable is done 😛 Do let me know how it works for you!

  • Liz

I heard so much about this one that I lost interest some time ago. Maybe I’ll get around to it some day but it’s not on a priority list anymore. I’m kind of hating on pots and tins right now.

    • Gasp… What did pots and tins do to you? Hahahaha!

  • Aw! Thanks for the love! I am just so glad you and your babies love it! It’s always a little scary recommending something and then having someone totally not like it at all! This stuff has transformed my lips big time! I rarely ever have to exfoliate now and I was doing that once a day before! I think it ADORABLE that you and the girls all pat your Nuxe balm on together at night! SO cute! :)))

    • I know what you mean, because skincare / makeup are just so personal. There definitely isn’t anything that’s universally good for everyone. This one is all love though, so right on, Kristen!! 🙂

  • The ritual of putting this on with your girls is priceless 🙂 I have this lip balm (my lips need to always be hydrated otherwise… not good) and this does a really good job at night. Its also pretty good to put a tiny bit on and lipstick on top because you can’t tell. xx

    • Glad you enjoy using this too! Yes, I’m amazed my lipstick still sits on my lips after using this balm as a base. Not oily or greasy at all. All love!
