I can’t remember when I first saw this palette. I’ve been reading lots about it this year and they’ve been all great reviews. I haven’t tried anything from Lorac before so this is my first experience. Let me tell you that I have nothing different to say. It’s true what you’ve read, it’s true what I’ve read.
I did expect the palette to be larger, but it comes in a slim rubber like casing, not unlike Bare Minerals eyeshadows or the NARS packaging. Fingers crossed this won’t melt like the NARS one. The eye shadow pans are smaller than expected too, but for 16 shades, I have no complaints. I’ve never hit pan on eye shadows before, so maybe these little ones will help me break that curse? LOL! There are 8 shades per row, with the top row carrying mattes and the bottom row carrying shimmers. The eye shadows are very buttery in texture. I have to be careful not to press too hard because the eye shadows are quite soft too. A little goes a long way because the pigments pack a punch or ten.
What I love about this palette is that it can carry me from day to night, from subtle neutrals to dramatic smokes. Some mattes I’ve encountered are stiff and ashy but these are amazing. All the shades go on smoothly and the best thing is, I can wear them for about 5 hours without an eye primer. Then, I see signs of creasing on my folded lid, that’s about it. This palette also comes with a miniature eye primer and it does prolong the eye shadow life to about 8 hours on my lids. That’s really good, in my opinion. I have normal to oily lids, but not so oily that everything melts. If you have super oily lids, then I suggest putting on a primer. These eye shadows blend like a dream, without turning muddy or being ‘eaten up’ by the brush. I really don’t have anything bad to say about this palette other than the fact that it’s not available in Malaysia. Thanks Joyce for helping me to purchase this 🙂
I created a very basic look using this palette. I used Champagne all over my lid, Espresso to darken the outer corners and Taupe to blend it out. I used Black as a liner – pressing it very close to my lash lines. Oh, I also love the names. No guessing what shade it is.
Isn’t it so wearable? Do you want me to create more looks with this palette? Let me know and I’ll oblige 🙂 Do you have this palette? If I was just starting out at makeup, I think this palette is enough to take me everywhere. Another fact, I also love the fact that the Light Pink shade is not really that pink. I hate pink eye shadows. LOL!
