FOTD: Fall

In case you didn’t know, I live in a tropical country where it’s sunny most of the year. When it’s not hot and humid, there might be thunderstorms and the occasional cloudy cool days. Even that is relative. My dear friend Tracy from Beauty Reflections thinks 22 Celcius is hot but hot for me is 38 Celcius. LOL! Anyway, if you live in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s Fall now. We call it Autumn, and it’s my favourite season. I love the rich colours and the sound of dry leaves rustling by. When I was living in Australia, I’d look forward to April and May. I remember the red autumn leaves and the golden evenings. This look is inspired by the colours of Fall.

These are the products I used. Estee Lauder Violet Underground, Tarte Exposed for a neutral blush and Dior Addict Extreme Black Tie as a stain on the lips. For EL Violet Underground, the brown is not red enough for me so I mixed it with the hot pink. Swatches below show you the difference.

The mix of brown and hot pink adds additional dimension and it looks beautiful on the lids. Here is what it looks like worn.

I really dislike pinks on the lids, but when mixed with this brown, it becomes a beautiful warm burgundy-ish colour. It doesn’t make me look sick nor does it make my eyes look swollen. Oh, the key is black liner 🙂

I think this look can be paired with a nude lip and if I were to go for a night out, I’d wear Black Tie dark and opaque. Black Tie can be too vampy for me to wear opaque in the day, since it’s like summer all year round here, but at night, I can get away with darker vampy lips which I absolutely love!

Hope you liked this look. Do you mix your eye shadows to create a completely different colour? Isn’t it fun?? (yes it is. LOL!) Oh, and in case you haven’t checked it out, there’s a blog sale going on. Do head on over there and have a look!

xoxo Lily

Beeeeeeeeeeeautiful!! I don’t mix shades enough though I’m starting to now. This palette is amazing.

Have you ever shown us the brushes you use to do your eyes? I want to see. 😀

  • love this look!
that is such a gorgeous jewel toned palette but i wouldn’t know what to do with the pink color. then mixed with brown! it even looks like a beautiful purple/mauve from where i see. <3

    • Thanks Lena. I don’t wear the pink on its own and isn’t it gorgeous after mixing it with brown? I’ve been wearing this a lot 🙂

  • I love the look you created. The mixed color is so pretty and has a bit of a glow! 🙂

    • Thanks Shannon. Means a lot coming from you! I love all the makeup looks you create 🙂

  • Oh, I LOVE. This entire look is perfection, Lily — the pink blends into the brown so beautifully, and I love the lip and cheek you’ve paired them with! ❤

    • Thank you Rae. The pink and brown blend is surprisingly yummilicious 🙂

  • sataa

Soooo Gorgeous!!!! you have blended the eyeshadows so beautifully

    • Thanks Sataa 🙂

  • 22 C IS HOT HAHAHA!!!!!!! I love you Lily. 🙂 Thanks for the laugh you always give me! You are the best.

BABY YOU LOOK AMAZINGGGGGGGGG! GAHH so gorgeous is everything on your beautiful face! LOVE.

    • I can wear long sleeved shirts in 22C. Haha! I tell ya, some people might even take advantage of the ‘cool’ to wear boots. AHAHAHAHAHA!
And thanks, you make me SOUND beautiful 😉

  • Hiza Idris

This look is gorgeous! I guess I should be experimenting more with my eyeshadows instead of buying a new one 🙂

    • Ahh, experimenting with older eye shadows doesn’t mean you can’t buy new ones. Hahahaha… I know, I’m evil. Shiny new makeup = good.

  • This pallete is looking great. The mixture of brown and hot pink shades looks beautiful.

  • Hey Lily, great look! I always have to mix that hot pink with something too. I don’t see a way for me to use it on its own! Black Tie is so gorgeous!

    • Thanks Sunny. Black Tie is very close to Guerlain Gigolo, I just realised >_<

  • Me too dislike the pink on the lids and I don’t add the shades too much but the mixture of these two swatches look amazing.

    • Pink on its own just makes me look sick. LOL!

  • Ting

The EL palette is stunning. You are right about layering pink + brown. Looks so pretty on you. 🙂

Yes I do mix my eyeshadows. Life is too short for sticking to 1 colour. :p I have some electric purple in my possession and I just mix with a black eyeliner. Totally changed that colour into something else. 😀

I prefer Spring though. Love the first leave or little flower poking out from the snow. 😀

    • Oh, electric purple + black! I can just imagine the transformation 🙂
I love the colours of Spring too, but I hate how it makes me feel. I get the worst hay fevers 🙁

      • Ting

Electric purple + black = navy blue… HAHAHA! Not that exciting anymore, is it? :p

On hay fevers… what a shame… 🙁 I have a friend who was cured of hay fever by having acupuncture. Before treatment, she had to rely on medicines every Spring / Summer with watery puffy eyes and running nose… poor thing…

        • HAHAHAHA! Navy blue is gorgeous! Yes, hay fever. There was once when I coughed non stop when I was in the lecture hall. I thought I was going to faint from lack of oxygen. Naturally, everyone was looking at me, so I had to leave the lecture 🙁 I had to depend on anti histamines and it was definitely not a good way to live. LOL!

  • absolutely loving the mix of pink and brown on the lids! stunning!

    • Thanks Parita 🙂

  • Oh Lily this is perfect! I love mixing colors and yes, I’ll admit I have worn pinks like this one on my eyes but that was in another life. I must say, if you get the humid 20°C they get in Australia, I believe you about the long sleeves. I spent the month of May there and gosh the nights were unfomfortably cold.

    • Thanks Helene. Yes, it is more humid than dry here, but when the days are mostly hot, anything cooler than 25C is refreshing. LOL!

  • Heeeeeeeeeeeey. That’s so pretty, Lily! I’m gonna try layering brown and hot pink now!

    • Thanks Larie. Yes, do give it a try. It’s gorgeous 🙂

  • Catherine @ bcrueltyfree

You’re so lucky to have warm weather year-round, that’s really my ideal environment. This look is beautiful! Very creative mixing the hot pink with the brown and you’re right, it does add dimension to the look. Very multidimensional

    • Thanks Catherine. It’s always greener on the other side, isn’t it? I wish it would be cooler here, and I’d love to have Autumn and Winter too. LOL!

  • This is a glorious, sumptuous, beautimous look! Love the softly stained lip with those velvety eyes <3
It's weird — since I split my time between London and HK, my sense of temperature changes too — I swear in HK 26C is "eek, I need a jacket!" chilly, while 22C in London is "omg why can't I go to work in a bikini?" hot.

    • Thank you Kate! And I totally know what you mean. It was a balmy 8C evening when I was in Melbourne, and I was sweating. LOL!

  • Love Tarte Exposed – one of my fave blushes! Love the way you made the pink work into the brown… what a lovely shade of burgundy. Well done. Gorgeous slightly smokey autumn eye look.

    • Thank you dear 🙂 It was an experiment gone right!

  • Oh wow those shades look wonderful mixed together! Such a beautiful Fall friendly look! Love it! That EL palette is super pretty, too!

    • Thank you Lisa. The EL palette is gorgeous 🙂

  • It’s a gorgeous look Lily! I have always been afraid of bright pink eyeshadow, but the way you mix it is brilliant. xx

    • Thanks Sofia 🙂 I’m glad I tried mixing it because the hot pink wasn’t used much at all!
