From Classic To Unconventional Smokey Eyes: Urban Decay Smoked Palette

I’ve had this palette for a long time but I just never got round to posting it. I even took the photos as soon as the palette arrived, edited the photos and then they just sat in my archive. Why? Because I never really busted out the eye shadows to use. So I finally did, and you know what? I like it. I like that it’s dark and smokey and that’s what it is. Smoked Palette.

The palette comes in a zipped up black case lined with smooth satin like cloth. Bad description. Oh well. I like how simplistic it is, but it’s also cool. Here’s to hoping I’m gentle enough with this palette that I don’t break the zip.

There are 10 eye shadows in total and it also comes with a full sized Perversion (black) eye pencil and a travel sized Primer Potion. Out of the 10 eye shadows, only 2 are lighter shades and they are matte (Kinky and Freestyle). I love how they added some colours into this palette. Rockstar, Evidence and Loaded are beautiful on the eyes. When worn, they are smokey with a pop of colour. The other colours are quite essential to a smokey eye like dark brown (Backdoor) and black (Blackout). If I’m not mistaken, you can get most of these colours separately so if you see something you like and not too keen about this palette, you can just get the singles instead.

The eye shadows are all soft and buttery, and very pigmented. When applying with a brush, I have to make sure to tap off excess first, or there will be some fall outs from the brush. Urban Decay eye shadows last 5 hours on my lids before slight creasing and if worn over primer, I get flawless wear. This palette also comes with a booklet which features 12 different looks. Would you like me to feature all of them? I can follow the all instructions and create the look on my own eyes, just to let you see what can be done with the palette. If you’re interested, I’ll have a Smoked Series or something.

I bought this online and I still see it online, so I don’t think this is limited edition. If you love smokey eyes like I do, this is a great palette to have for a variety of smokey eyes! Have you seen it / tried it yourself? Let me know if you’re keen on me showing you all 12 looks featured in the booklet!

    • Will try my best for sure 🙂

  • You know, I’d totally forgotten I had this palette too! LOL! It’s a nice one for smokey eyes certainly. I love all the blackened shades.

    • Right? I love all the blackened shades too!

  • Sheetal

Would definitely love to see all 12 looks with this palette!!

    • Awesome 🙂 Will do my best!

  • Hey Lily, LOOKS PLEASE! I skipped this one, but I think at some point I’ll cave in and get Mushroom and Loaded!

    • Mushroom and Loaded are gorgeous! Actually, they’re all pretty good colours 🙂

  • yes, Lily, looks, please! 😀 😀 😀

  • Ooooh! This does look like a great one! Looks yes!

    • It’s a sexy palette for sure!

  • Liz

This one’s a good one! I’m always tempted by it but afraid UD will come out with a new palette that will make me regret an older purchase, lol. Arianne once did a great look with this and all the dark smokiness is super hot. 😀

    • I like that there aren’t too many colours in this palette. I skipped both the Vice palettes because they’re just too big for my liking. I know what you mean though. UD always comes up with new palettes and most of them are tempting 🙂

  • i would love to see a series with this, Lily!
i know everybody is buzzing about the naked 3, but i would probably get this if i’m to buy an UD palette. this is me being honest. (don’t really care for any NAKED *ducks*)
the Barlust shade is my favorite. 🙂

    • Yes, a series for sure – a series of 12 looks 🙂 Ah, I’m not feeling Naked3 either. I love my Naked 1, ignored my Naked 2, so Naked 3 is just too much for me. LOL! Barlust is a great shade. Love the smokey taupey goodness!

  • Viv

Looks would be great – I have this, but no inspiration to use it – you could solve this 🙂

    • Hi Viv, I hope the look book will help! The are 12 variations after all 🙂

  • Gorgeous palette and really lovely shades they’ve included! Is it weird though that when I wear really bold, strong shades like black and deep purple/green/blue/etc., I don’t want them to be TOO pigmented and soft like these are? I just find they are more difficult for me to apply…probably because I’m so heavy-handed with my shadows naturally. Then, once it’s on, it’s hard to blend out since it’s so pigmented and soft, it clings to the lids. Haha! Still, I definitely think this is an awesome palette and wouldn’t mind getting my hands on it! 😛

    • Hi Becca, I have no problems with blending whatsoever and I really packed in the colours! Also, it might help if you powder before applying the eye shadows. Doesn’t stick that much compared to, say, if you apply directly onto primer or Concealer or foundation 🙂

  • Bella

I would love a series! I’ve had this for about a year but the only thing that has seen any wear is the Perversion eye pencil…LOVE….

    • I already scheduled the first one. Keep your eyes peeled!!
