Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream For Soft Glowing Skin

You guys should know by now that I love my Bobbi Brown Extra Balm Rinse right? I’m onto my second huge tub. So when I found out that the line came up with a lighter version of their Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm, I was excited. My skin is not getting any younger, and those light gel moisturizers don’t really do much for me anymore.

Just to make it clear, I have normal combination oily skin, and I do get bouts of drier skin from time to time. It can get dehydrated on the surface, but I would still get oily on the T-zone. Weird right? I don’t like thick moisturizers in the day because that would just make my foundation melt, but at night, I don’t mind richer ones because I sleep in an air conditioned room. I initially had my qualms because the Extra line is for those with really dry skin. So, I used this sparingly, only at night, and on alternate nights too. Anyway, let me talk about the superficial first – packaging and scent. I love my Extra Balm Rinse scent, and this is similar, just less citrus, less tangy. The moisturizer comes in a tub, so if you’re not a fan of dipping your finger into your cream, I suggest using a spatula, like me. The tub is heavy and sturdy, it’s like a mini version of my Balm Rinse ๐Ÿ™‚

This Extra Repair Moisture Cream is made for those with normal to dry skin and humid climates, and that’s probably why my skin likes it. If it’s any heavier, it might just be too much. This is thanks to the Omega-rich sunflower oil which provides moisturization without suffocating your skin in heavy cream. Another ingredient worth noting is the anti ageing properties of this cream. The Extra Repair Complex which has clary sage extract and Argireline Peptide addresses loss of collagen and dehydration – both of which I am experiencing now. When I apply the cream at night, I massage the cream in (very gently without tugging) then pat the remainder in. It absorbs relatively fast compared to my other richer moisturizers and I wake up without greasy skin at all. I wake up to semi matte baby soft skin, which is amazing! If you look at the cream on my hand, you can actually see that the texture is a lighter weight cream instead of those really heavy balmy paste. So, it glides on the face without tugging ๐Ÿ™‚ I have transitioned to using this cream nightly, and my skin loves it!

I think the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream (RM335/50ml) is spot on for me. I can see loss of firmness on my face, and it’s starting to get more dehydrated as I age, and this cream addresses just that. Love the smell too! However, it ain’t cheap. RM335 for a 50ml product is considered to be the higher end of the price spectrum, but if you’ve been looking for something that effectively quenches your dehydrated skin without the grease, this is it. I can’t say anything about it addressing firmness because I can’t see anything in the one month I’ve been using it, but that Clary Sage Extract is quite high on the ingredients list, so it’s NOT negligible. In time, hopefully, I’ll see some results.

ALSO, I thought I was allergic to Shea Butter, but I’m not. So Yay! Have you tried any Bobbi Brown skincare? What moisturizer are you using now?

xoxo Lily

  • Sounds interesting to be sure! And worth trying too! Will have to get a sample!

    • Yes get a sample! If this is not rich enough, you can always go for the balm version.

Looks interesting but too expensive for me. I am looking to replenish both my day and night time moisturisers and have not decided on what to get next. I am currently using Estee Lauder Advanced Time Zone
Age Reversing Line/Wrinkle Hydrating Gel Oil-Free for day time and the Olay Micro-Sculpting Moisturiser at night. My skin is normal-combination also prone to dehydration. Any suggestions?

    • I used up my EL advanced time zone too and I find that too light for my skin now. Skin is getting drier with age! Erm, maybe sick with your moisturisers if you like them but add Advanced Night Repair serum at night? That works miracles on my skin.

      • Yes, I second that! ANR is awesome! Woot woot~

  • We have similar skin condition, Lily! Weird it is, and I hate it. We r constantly searching for the right one for our dehydrated skin that also have oil at the tzone area. BB’s extra repair eye balm doesnt work for me, but seeing this now I would love to try it. Thanks lily!

    • Oh glad to know I have a skin buddy. Lol! I only use this at night though. Let me know how you like it Ok? Go get a sample or something ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Yes wil do! I mean, I MUST do – beg for a sample first to see how the consistensy is like for me, thanks again!

        • I’m sure they’ll give you a sample without having to beg! If not, let me know and I’ll send some to you.

          • Thank you so much, Lily! ^^ save the trouble though, I will try to get them here. Im currently trying the cream from Estee Lauder now, lets see how it goes *crossed finger; no zits please*

            • Haha ok. Good luck with that new cream!

  • Hey Lily, I’m glad to hear this one works so well for you! I haven’t tried a lot of Bobbi Brown skincare at all, except for the cleansing oil. For the moment I’m still on the Kiehl’s stress relief moisturizer, but I’ve been thinking about getting a Pai one since I’ve used up many sample pots and I like a couple of them a lot ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Oh I have the Pai one but haven’t started testing it yet. I’m gonna get to it after I use up my deluxe samples. I’m going through them like crazy! Would be a waste if they went bad.

  • Liz

You make me want to get the rinse balm for sure! I’m drowning in creams right now and not sure this is quite right for me, but now I want some more Bobbi Brown. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Yup, the Rinse Balm is awesome ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the scent too. You might want to take a sniff before trying though… do you like stronger citrusy scents?

      • Liz

As long as it doesn’t remind me of household cleaners!

        • Hahahaha… OK, I promise it doesn’t!

  • i think i have the same issue! i need something more hydrating and nourishing without being greasy.
you sure got me interested in this cream although honestly i never liked any BB product.
i’m happy that you have found something that works for your skin so well! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Definitely works great on my skin and I’m happy they sent it over ๐Ÿ™‚ I also love Bobbi Brown’s pot rouges and eyeshadow sticks. The others haven’t really wow-ed me yet ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Oh this sounds nice! Once my Nuxe Crรจme Fraรฎche is done I’ll be looking for something new, well maybe lol. I’ll get a sample of this one. Thanks for the review. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • You’re welcome Helene. Do get a sample to try… I suppose Bobbi Brown is known more for her makeup, but there are some hidden skincare gems too ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I’ve tried this one, it’s heavenly and smells so good! It’s very lush and feels great on the skin.

    • Oh I’m glad you love it too! I love to apply it before bed ๐Ÿ™‚

  • This sounds so amazing though I’m not surprised since Bobbi Brown products are always of high quality. I use the extra repair eye cream in winter and I love it. It’s thick and almost like a creamy balm. A little goes a long way and it moisturizers my eye area really well.

    • Hi Yu Ming, I don’t believe I tried the eye cream before but this Moisture Cream is really yummy!
