Review: Pai Skincare Cleanse and Tone Starter Kit (Part1)

Today I will bring you a review of 2 of the products in the Pai Cleanse and Tone Starter Kit. They are Pai Rice Plant & Rosemary Bioaffinity Tonic and Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleansing Cream. I bought the kit directly from the website <click here for the link, I am not affiliated> and there was an offer that time where I’d get a complimentary full sized eye cream! Bonus, I thought. I upsized my cleanser to 200ml so for the kit, and for USD$156, I get:

  • Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleansing Cream 200ml
  • Pai Rice Plant & Rosemary Bioaffinity Tonic 50ml
  • Exfoliating Muslin Face Cloth
  • Geranium & Thistle Combination Skin Cream (50ml)
  • Echium & Argan Soothing Eye Cream (15ml)

Pai Skincare

Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleansing Cream

Everybody I know who tried this loves this cleanser. It’s a one step cleanser which gently removes dirt, makeup and other impurities that build up on the skin throughout the day. What I like to do is to squeeze one full pump on my palm (instructions say 2 pumps but that might be too much), rub my palms together then work it into my face gently. I don’t use this on my eyes even though it is suitable to use around the eye area. I still prefer to use another cleanser. It is supposed to remove waterproof mascara, but I’ve tried that, and no, it doesn’t work that well…. unless you really spend your time working it. Me? I’m impatient. A bi-phased eye makeup remover gets the job done in a jiffy.

Anyway, after massaging my face thoroughly, I wet the muslin cloth with warm water then wipe away the cleanser. You’d be able to see all the makeup and dirt on the cloth and it’s quite satisfying 🙂 The muslin cloth helps exfoliate away dead skin cells, so skin feels soft and smooth. The cleanser also has Omega 3 & Vitamins A, B and E which is suppose to replenish the skin’s moisture barrier. It is also detergent and alcohol free, so it’s great if you have sensitive skin. It won’t dry out or irritate the skin. I have been using this for a while, and have grown to like it a lot. My face is clean and soft, and it’s so easy to use.

Now this, I’m unsure. It is supposed to purify combination skin types over time, but this is only 50ml and it goes really fast. It is quite expensive for the amount of product I get, and I don’t find it anything special. Granted, my skin feels softer after applying, but most toners give me similar results. Perhaps it’s because I don’t have problematic skin to start with, so all those ‘living waters’, amino acids, vitamins and trace minerals, while awesome, don’t have such a great impact on my skin. This is supposed to improve the appearance of skin tone and texture too, and after using up the whole bottle, I don’t see any difference. Perhaps, for someone with really sensitive skin, this might work better, but I’d rather spend the money on a jumbo sized 150ml toner from Lancome. I get 3 times more product and works just as well.

So in short, I might repurchase the cleanser, but I’ll give the toner a miss. If you’re huge on organic products, you might like this. My skin doesn’t mind some parabens, alcohol and silicones, so I wouldn’t pay premium for products that are organically produced. I find that my skin has improved tremendously due to my Estee Lauder and Dior products, visible results, so I’ll stick to that. I quite like the cleanser, but before I repurchase, I’m curious to try the Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm. Sunny raves about it a lot!

Have you tried anything from Pai Skincare? I hope this review helped. I’ve read so many rave reviews online, but for me, my experience hasn’t really wow-ed me.

I don’t give a hoot about organic skin care but I really need to try some Pai this year. That toner makes me excited even though it didn’t do much for you. 🙂

    • Lily

Lol Ok. I’ll wait patiently for your review 🙂

  • This has been on my radar! But there are SO many brands to try, ugh. And this isn’t readily available in brick and mortar stores or my favorite online shops, so it never really falls into my cart…you know how that goes, hahahaha!

    • Lily

I feel you, Larie! Same here. Lol!

  • Icaria

I’d love to try that cleanser it seems so lovely but there are so many others readily available. *sigh*

    • Lily

You’re right. Many others out there!

  • Hey Lily, thanks for the link love! I haven’t tried their toners (I just don’t use toners anymore), but I have repurchased the cleanser multiple times and it is still my go-to! It’s just really hard to find something with an equally clean ingredient list, or maybe I haven’t looked around enough. Do give Omorovicza a go though! I use it twice a week or so like a treat, and it’s really life-changing 😉

    • Lily

I’ll definitely give Omorovicza a go. I’m just not sure when. LOL!

  • TracyBeautyReflections

I’ve tried their eye cream and it’s nice! The cleanser sounds great, but honestly I just like my Cerave one from the drugstore. I don’t like paying a lot of money for cleansers for some reason lol.

    • Lily

Lol, this is a great makeup remover and cleanser in one, with gentle ingredients that are suitable for sensitive skin 🙂 I like it, but maybe someone with really sensitive skin will appreciate more? Haha!

  • Anusha Puri

yeah i have heard so many good things about this brand .I am desperately looking for a eye cream that can help reducing my under eye puffiness

    • Lily

I think Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus is great to reduce puffiness. The Pai one is moisturizing enough, and I think that’s all I see >_<

      • Anusha Puri

ah thank you.I will check it out.

  • I think people who are concerned with a clean ingredient list would love Pai. I have sensitive skin so big brands like Estee Lauder etc really don’t work for me…I would def try this as soon as I work through some of my skincare stash!

    • Lily

You’re right, Yu Ming. My skin is not sensitive, so I have yet to fully appreciate Pai’s gentleness. I have read great reviews and all of them said that it doesn’t irritate their skin 🙂
