You must have read about Antipodes on this blog. I first discovered it about 2 years ago, and I have been slowly trying their products. I was looking for a more affordable eye cream and this one fits the bill. Then, there was some major promotion on cleansers and toners (60% off with purchase) so I grabbed that too. Oh, and I heard avocado is a good ingredient in creams, and I got a night cream. I know, it was one after another. I bought all these when I first knew I was pregnant. I wanted to switch to something more organic for no specific reason. I don’t believe skincare must be different during pregnancy if there are no changes to your skin. My skin did become more sensitive, hence, the switch. I noticed my skin has become drier lately, so I know I’ll be changing my routine again. So, I believe skincare should only be changed according to your skin condition, not because whether or not you’re pregnant. So here, I’ll be doing brief reviews on each product which I’ve been using for the past 4 to 5 months.

cleanser and toner

Juliet Skin Brightening Gel Cleanser 200ml (RM118)

I blame my super sensitive nose because I don’t like the scent of this cleanser. I might change my mind once I’m not pregnant. I do however, like the cleanser very much. It cleanses without stripping and it feels very comfortable on. Even after cleansing, my face does not feel tight and I love using this in the morning. I bought this because I saw Manuka Honey in the ingredients and you guys know I love my Manuka Honey mask.

You can order it online here (not affiliated whatsoever).

Ananda Antioxidant Rich Gentle Toner 100ml (RM138)

This is a spray on toner which smells of beautiful roses. In fact, I spritz some on my face whenever it feels a little dry. It is supposed to soothe irritated skin and on me, it does tone down some redness. I’d spray it on my face just for that whiff of Bulgarian Rose :-) Again, here’s the link (not affiliated whatsoever, Serious!)

eye and face cream

Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream 30ml (RM178)

Did you realise something? We usually get only 15ml in our eye creams but this one has double in volume! I thought it was a deal until I saw that this product expires in 6 months from date of opening. I’ve been using it daily and nightly for the past 4-5 months and nowhere am I nearly done! And I’ve already decanted HALF of it to my mom. I think it’s great value because of that. Just share with a friend and your eye cream is half the price. Haha! I do like this eye cream too. I find that my eyes are less dry, and it looks a little firmer. I wonder if it’s the avocado in the ingredients. Avocados are great for firming. This eye cream hydrates my eyes without being overly oily and it doesn’t melt my eye makeup either (when I wear eye makeup, that is).

Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream 60ml (RM178)

I remember the first time I put this on before bed. Ashlyn came to give me a kiss and she said “Oh Mommy, what’s that beautiful smell??” Yup, that’s the cream. It is like aromatherapy on my face. I wish I could love this product though. It is very creamy and very rich. I will recommend this ONLY if you have dry skin. I use it on alternate nights and still, it’s too rich for my face. My mom was only too happy to take it from me. After these few months, her face looks more supple and soft and this is the only change in her skincare.

So there you go, very brief reviews of a few products I’ve been using. I have been using a firming serum and a firming mask and I DO SEE RESULTS! I want to test them for another month (been using them for the past 2-3 months) before telling you about it. Until next time!

xoxo Lily

I like the mask I have from Antipodes a lot! I really do need to explore more of the brand, but I have SO much stuff to get through. UGGH.

    • Lily

LOL! I will I will… I need to test it a little more to firm up my opinions :-)

  • 38noodles

Being a NZer I feel ashamed that I didn’t know about Antipodes until I moved back to Asia. Love their Divine Face Oil which has avocado and rosehip oil.

    • Lily

I wish I could love that oil too but I have a feeling I’m allergic to rosehip oil :-( AND I’m too cowardly to confirm my suspiscion. Heh!

  • Emma Bovary

I love quite a few Antipodes products, at the moment I’m using Juliet as well and it’s perhaps not as nourishing as I need this winter, but am still enjoying it. I’m undecided on the scent though, not sure if I like it or dislike it.
My favourite product from the brand is definitely the Grapeseed butter cleanser, heaven on dry patches and works so well at softening the skin. I really need to pick up another tub of that stuff!

    • Lily

I have that Grapeseed butter cleanser in my cupboard but haven’t opened it yet. I want to make a dent in my Bobbi Brown Extra Rinse Balm (at least 50%) before I open a new one!

  • Icaria

The toner smells like beautiful roses? *sigh* That, I would love to try! :)

    • Lily

Yes, smells of real roses, not those synthetic ones that give me headaches!

  • Liz

Sounds nice, but it’s one of those brands that aren’t visible here so I always forget about them. And LOL YOU DIRTY AFFILIATING BLOGGER

    • Lily

I know. I’m a dirty sneaky blogger. MUAHAHAHA!

  • Beauty Box

Makes me really wanna try this brand. Antipodes has been on my radar for a while now but skincare hoarder me is waiting to whittle down the stash before stockpiling more products. Glad to see that there is a natural/organic brand that gives results!

    • Lily

Well, I believe in having backups in all skincare so I’m sure you’re not a hoarder. LOL! I hope you’ll have a chance to try one day though

    • Antipodes Scientific Organic B

Thanks for sharing the love. Our products are scientific based, so they have to give results.

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

Antipodes is one of those lovely organic brands that I keep on hearing about and would LOVE to try but have not done so yet…once I use a few more items in my stash/hoard, I will definitely be giving it a try! :)

    • Lily

Your skincare reviews make me want to try a few brands that aren’t available here like May Lindstrom. We’re not good for each other Becca. Let’s split up :-(

      HAHAHA! kidding!!!!!

  • Nikki P.

This is the first time I’ve heard of this brand. It’s not locally available here but all your picks sound so good.

    • Lily

Oh, I hope you get to try it one day, Nikki!

  • Shu Ting

Hooohoooo! Boy I am so tempted so try this brand out. I need to finish all those skincare stuff in my deep drawer first. Like you, I don’t know how products after products get inside the basket…!! The sales lady must have put a charm on me or something!!

Hmm… your girl is so sweet!! Beautiful smell eh? awwww…. i am very curious about the smell now!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyway, yes! I tend to switch to “organic” skincare during pregnancy. It is a bit silly I think. The foetus doesn’t get anything but out of motherly instinct I did! I did stop myself from having a hair perm or colouring during those 9 months and after though.

    • Antipodes Scientific Organic B

Let us know when you try them, and what you think.

      • Shu Ting

Sure, will do. The cleansing Balm which Paris B raved about is on my top to-try list! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Lily

Oh I heard about not perming or coloring or treating the hair chemically though. I mean, I neglect my hair as it is, and it’s the perfect excuse to when I’m pregnant. LOL!

      • Shu Ting

Lily, you will have lush hair while pregnant so don’t worry. ๐Ÿ˜€

My husband always scolded me: why eat organics food when you go and put chemicals on your hair? … I hate it when he has a point. :(

        • Lily

Oh I know what you mean. I hate it when my husband is right most of the time. LOL!

  • Antipodes Scientific Organic B

I bought the Antipodes Vanilla Pod lately and I’m addicted since. The scent alone is driving me nuts. I could smell it all day long. And I know I will repurchase this over the next few years.
I would love to try the Kiwi Sead Oil Eye Cream but I’m a bit allergic to kiwis :(, I don’t know if it would cause a bad reaction. SAD TIMES! :O

And now … let me think about which products I buy next, hahahaha. #loveisintheair

    • Lily

I’m glad you like the Vanilla Pod. I might try that next once I’m done with my cream :-)

  • Sarina

Noooo, I deleted the ultra long comment I wrote :((((((((((((((. AAAAAAAH. So sorry.
I wrote a long text about my love for the brand. And now everything is gone. But long story short: I will repurchase the Antipodes Vanilla Pod forever. The scent is driving me nuts. <3

    • Lily

Oh no! I do that sometimes. I write a long comment then accidentally delete it, and it’s just not the same writing it all over again. UGH!
I’m glad you love Antipodes too. I haven’t tried Vanilla Pod, but that’s on my next to purchase list :-)

    • Antipodes Scientific Organic B

Thank you for sharing the love Sarina. We love to hear these stories, I’m sure your long text was amazing!

Hi, I have been a silent reader for a couple of years. Since you are talking about one of my favourite skincare brands, i suddenly feel the need to join in. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I have used antipodes’ grapeseed butter cleanser, hallelujah lime & patchouli cleanser, apostle skin brightening serum, hosanna serum, resurrect toner and manuka honey mask. I have repurchased all. At the moment i am loving the juliet cleanser and kiwi eye cream. I also love the smell of the avocado night cream. Unfortunately since it is a bit heavy for my oily combo skin as i do not sleep in air-con room, i didnt purchase a tub.

    • Lily

Hi Ktee! *waves* There are still quite a few things I haven’t tried from Antipodes, but so far, they’re mostly hits :-) Don’t stay silent for too long eh? I love comments!

    • Antipodes Scientific Organic B

Thanks for sharing the love of Antipodes. #lovethelove

  • fiona furtado

Antipodes is one brand i wanted to try. I picked up the Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream and I love it. I would love to try the eye cream and thank you so much Lily for sharing the skincare routine.

    • Lily

      You’re welcome Fiona :-)

  • Victoria

I am just reading through your blog post hence the late comment. I am also using the same gel cleanser and the kiwi seed eye cream and love them both. Now that I am pregnant, I had to change my gel cleanser to Sukin because I just could not take the smell. It is vomit-inducing because I have evening sickness. LOL. So I ended up using this strictly in the morning only and I still find the scent too strong. No issues when I was not pregnant.

The lady at TNS Skin Lab did say that she had customers who used the eye cream beyond the 6 month expiry date and there was no issues. I love this eye cream though because it keeps my eye area smooth (less lines) and hydrated. It is definitely one of the better eye creams in the market right now.

    • Lily

Yeah, that smell… but I didn’t vomit from it, so whew! Glad you like the eye cream, Victoria :-) My mom uses eye creams like drinking water, so it makes sense to share this big tub with her. I suppose if it didn’t go rancid, it could still be used? Some brands are conservative with their shelf life, but I’d still be cautious :-)

      • Victoria

Wanted to ask you, do you still use ANR II while you are pregnant? It contains Retinyl Palminate a derivative of Vitamin A. Although it is only number 10 on its list of ingredients and using it in small amounts on skin would not do any harm to the foetus, I know of a lot of mothers-to-be who still avoid this serum while pregnant. I am still using it because it gives my skin such a rested look. If I do not use it because of this reason, any recommendation on a similar serum that is considered safe for pregnancy?

        • Lily

Hey Victoria, I personally don’t freak out much when it comes to skincare. The amount you use is what. … 50ml in the whole term of pregnancy? These are applied topically anyway. And I really doubt the ingredients get absorbed so deep into the tissue that it goes into the bloodstream. So, my advice is, relax! It’s the best thing you can do while you’re pregnant :-) And yes, I’m still using it.
