Review: Eve Lom Cleanser

Most of you should know by now that I’m a fan of cleansing oils. I have reviewed a few, and am also trying a few. I’d like to share with you something Vogue claimed as “probably the best cleanser in the world”, a 25-year-old cleanser that has achieved cult status. I introduce to you The EVE LOM Cleanser. It is suitable for all skin types, skin concerns and environmental conditions. It is one of the items in my “To Try List” and I’m glad I was approached to try it. Does this cleanser live up to its name?

Eve Lom Cleanser

The EVE LOM Cleanser (100ml, RM295) comes with a 100% cotton muslin cloth. In the tub, the cleanser is a creamy yellow with some beads for exfoliation purposes. There is a subtle scent to this cleanser which I’d describe as slightly lemony slightly green. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s not unpleasant. I like to take a little bit of this cleanser, warm it in my hands and then massage it onto my dry face. I start with the centre of my face, onto my forehead, chin and the rest of my face including my neck. As I wash my hands, I wet the muslin cloth with warm water then wipe away the oil on my face in gentle circular motion. The oil from my hands wash off quite easily, and my face feels very soft and clean after. No other cleanser is needed after using The EVE LOM Cleanser, and since it exfoliates and tones as well, I guess you can skip toner. I have a habit of using toner, so I maintain that step before using my serum and moisturizer. EVE LOM actually recommends a more thorough cleansing ritual, but I find it a little too time consuming. If you’re one who prefers hassle free cleansing, wet face, lather with cleanser, rinse and pat, then you might find this troublesome. However, it might be the combination of the cleanser and the muslin cloth exfoliation, the result has been pleasantly positive.

I have been using this cleanser for the last few weeksย on a nightly basis and my skin feels great. I did not break out from the mineral oil in the ingredients, and there are no clogged pores either. This cleanser removes makeup very well. There are no traces of leftover makeup and I just have to mention again how soft and refined my skin feels after using this cleanser. I did not use any other exfoliators while I’m using this cleanser. I have to admit, I have grown to really really like The EVE LOM Cleanser!

EVE LOM is available in Penang and KL so it might be inconvenient for those of you who want to purchase anything from this brand. Good news is, there’s a promotion for you guys who live outside of Penang and KL for the month of September 2014 (Malaysian mailing address only). Just contact EVE LOM directly (email to: jeenpeing@luxasia.com.my)ย for the purchase, and they’d courier the products directly to your doorstep. The bonus is, you’ll be getting 20% off your purchase!! How awesome is that deal? If you’re not sure of purchasing anything full sized, you might want to pick up their Discovery Kit (RM128) which consists of 30ml Cleanser, 1 muslin cloth, 15ml Rescue Mask and 15ml TLC Cream.ย Just FYI, other than this 100ml cleanser that I have, you can also purchase a smaller size 50ml for RM215 (comes with 1 muslin cloth) or a bigger one at 200ml for RM455 (comes with 2 muslin cloth). I’m interested in their Morning Time Cleanser (125ml, RM215) and Rescue Mask (50ml, RM185) now.

Have you tried EVE LOM skincare before?

xoxo Lily

  • Liz

Hey, I had no idea this cleanser was so old! Interesting. Personally I’m set with oil cleansers – they’re easier and faster to work with than balms – but who knows when the fickle blogger will want to experiment again, lol. Glad you got to trial this for us!

    • Lily

It’s definitely worth a try, Liz. Balms and oils – they’re quite easy to work with ๐Ÿ™‚

  • This could be a good option for me in the winter. I’ve never tried any Eve Lom skincare but MAN AM I WISHING I had a Malaysian address – that deal is insane! I did buy a 3-pack of her muslin cloths and i LOVE those.

    • Lily

Well, if you ever try, Kristen, you gotta try the cleanser first. It’s great stuff!

  • Unpaletteable

I love this cleanser so much. I wish I didn’t because it’s sooo expensive and yet the ingredients are rather cheap. I started using it because a friend with amazing skin swore by it and it worked its magic on me too. There don’t seem to be any alternatives out there that quite match up….maybe it is the best cleanser in the world!

    • Lily

I’m glad you like it too!

  • Hey Lily, do I see a new layout? Great job!

Glad to hear you like this one so much. I’ve hard positive feedback about it, but the ingredient list makes me very hesitant. I guess I wouldn’t mind trying a sample sachet, but I wouldn’t take the plunge without having done so.

    • Lily

I saw ‘mineral oil’ and took a step back, however I didn’t experience any bad reactions. And yes, it’s a new layout! I was just playing around with it, because I got bored, and decided to go with this for a while ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Oooh, love the new layout! ๐Ÿ˜€

This one is so expensive here, I think. And I hate sticking my finger in the pot. I’m a cleansing oil/milk kinda person – PUMPS. lol!

    • Lily

I’m glad you like the new layout ๐Ÿ™‚ I like cleansing oils and cleansing milks as well. I have a mixture of these at home. LOL!

  • Always wanted to try this! But I have so many cleansing oils to go through it’s not funny haha. Someday I shall try it! Love the new layout!

    • Lily

I know what you mean. I’ve wanted to try this cleanser for a few years but never got round to it. LOL! I’m glad I did though ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Love the new layout, Lily! ๐Ÿ™‚
This is on my “to try” list as well. So many seem to love this cleanser. The price and the rather plain looking ingredients kind of kept me from jumping on the wagon, though.
I’m sure the cleanser is great (if something is being sold for 25 years, it’s gotta be), but I should try some muslin clothes first. How often do you discard them?

    • Lily

Hey Lena, I use muslin cloth every time I use this cleanser and because I’m quite anal, I actually put it in the wash every time. I have other muslin cloths so I rotate them. I just treat them like I would a handkerchief. I chuck them out when they look old and worn ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I’ve been really wanting to try Eve Lom, the price tag kind of scares me. On one hand, if I don’t like it, I’ve wasted money. But on the other hand, if I do like it, there goes lots of money if I want to keep buying it haha. I think I want to try the muslin clothes first as I use up some of the cleansers I currently have, but I may be picking this up at some point too.

    • Lily

I know what you mean. My face seems to like to spend money on skincare, and every time I run out of my staple, I cringe. Ouch, my wallet!

  • Pang Gyn Ai

    Still have the 20%?
And if wanna buy this product just direct contact the email? Thanks

    • Lily

Dear Pang, as written in the post, the discount was only valid for the month of September 2014 so unfortunately no, it’s not valid anymore.

I see, so the email is seller?
