Review: Canmake Cream Blushes

Canmake is a Japanese brand sold at Sasa here. It’s so accessible for me, but took me a long time to actually try anything from this brand! I decided to give the blushes a try first and the reason I chose the cream blushes is because they look like jelly and I was hungry. HAHAHA!

These blushes are very small. They come in plastic jewel like boxes and are very light. Nothing to shout about but functional enough πŸ™‚ I chose the first 2 shades in the lineup, CL01 and CL02 randomly. All the shades are quite beautiful, truth be told, so what am I to do? I’m not going to buy everything. CL01 is a jelly red while CL02 is a blue based pink. Actually, in some lighting, it looks like guava pink.

These blushes are emollient to touch and they don’t feel siliconey. They feel light, not particularly creamy, something like a brand new lip balm in a pot, if you know what I mean. I like to apply this using my fingers. I dab a couple of dots on my cheeks then blend them out. They don’t turn to powder, but rather, just blend well into the skin. TheyΒ feel a little tacky initially, just a tad bit, but settle into the skin quite nicely. Setting with powder makes them last at least 8 hours on me. Here is how they swatch, one swipe, using fingers.

And when worn, they look like this. As you can tell, even though the difference is subtle (unless you pile on clown cheeks!), CL01 is warmer while CL02 is cooler and lighter on the skin.

Do you own any Canmake cream blushes? For such a tiny little thing, I expected it to cost a bit less, but I paid RM43.90 for each blush last year. Not sure if there are any price changes since then though.

  • I have a couple of these too, and they’re not bad, just more expensive than they should be, since CANMAKE is basically a drugstore brand in Japan but the prices get doubled or even tripled when they arrive here. >_< (Same thing applies to Japanese magazines here T_T)

    • Lily

Yup, sometimes I wonder if it’s really necessary to jack up the prices so much though >_<

  • I’ve seen these, but I never picked up any! I guess I wasn’t sure how they’d work. Glad to hear they last so well!

    • Lily

They’re not too bad at all, Sunny. I mean, I was really curious to try, and now, curiosity satisfied πŸ™‚

  • LOL is that a South Park character? The blushes are so pretty! I love the jelly finish. I hate paying the inflated price to get that stuff over here, though!

    • Lily

Lol yah, Cartman πŸ˜› And boo to inflated prices. Sigh.

  • Liz

I was kind of mad about these for a time but now the crazy has passed, lol. I have three but only one has the jelly finish – the other two are more traditional creme. Original intent was to collect them all but now I’m thinking of getting rid of the ones I have, lol. Fickle, I know.

    • Lily

High five! Fickle people are awesome. … because I’m fickle too. Hahahaha!

  • Jaa

Staaaaaaaaaaaan!!! LOL I love the show!!! Do they smell fruity, too? They look totally edible!!! πŸ˜€

    • Lily

Lol I don’t think they smell like anything though

  • Shu Ting

I’ve got a few of these! Haven’t tried them out yet but they look so pretty on you! I got mine through a relative in Japan for half the price you paid. HEHE πŸ˜€

    • Lily

Rub it in, Shu Ting… rub it in πŸ˜›

  • Shu Ting

but hey, you get most cosmetics in Malaysia cheaper than what I have to pay here!! T_T

    • Lily

      Heh I didn’t know that πŸ˜›

      • Shu Ting

yeah… 30% higher due to cosmetics & skincare tax… OUCH!!!

        • Lily

WOW! That’s a lot! I thought we have it bad…

  • I bought CL01 when I was in Japan, I love it! Wish I had bought more. I like carrying them in my handbag since they’re so tiny and easy to apply with fingers. πŸ™‚

I’m glad you like it too, Xuvious πŸ™‚
