Review: Guerlain Shine Automatique 760 Lou Ling

Can anyone please tell me if this is still available or if this is limited edition? I know this Shine Automatique is part of the Holiday collection 2012, but I’m not sure if it’s made limited edition or permanent. If it’s an LE item, please don’t shoot me. I actually really like this shade and I know I’m late but better late than never? Because Guerlain is so inaccessible to me, the stores are only limited to Kuala Lumpur, I don’t get to play with or buy their products, beautiful as they may be.

760 Lou Ling

The Guerlain Shine Automatique I have comes in a shiny gold tube with a sliding knob. I don’t know what else to call it. You just slide that little button up and down to get the lipstick in and out. I’m not really a huge fan of this packaging though. I have to push out the whole lipstick bullet to apply, and if I’m clumsy, I might break the lipstick. I know there are some of you who love this packaging, so to each her own 🙂

Lou Ling swatches sheer on my arm. It is a red tinged with fuchsia and burgundy but on my lips, it just reads a brighter berry red. I agree with Sunny that since this is not an opaque shade, your natural lip colour plays a role in how the shade turns out. My lips are naturally pigmented, and that’s why it pulls more red on me. This formula is hydrating and light, unlike the Rouge Diors I’m used to, which are creamier and much more emollient. I did a comparison swatch of berry lip colours a few posts back, so here it is again to refresh your memory.

As you can see, on my arm, it is sheer and pulls more berry pink. Here is how it looks on my lips, where it looks more red than pink.

Have you tried any Guerlain lipsticks, Shine Automatique in particular? Did I just talk about something limited edition that was only available 2 years ago? Either way, it’s an oldie that is still good and it’s always a happy thing 🙂 Guerlain lipsticks are expensive and I recommend that you only purchase it if you really love the shade and texture. I bought their Rouge L’Extrait in Luxure and I loved it. Too bad after 2 years, this liquid lipstick dried out on me 🙁 It’s painful to see it go, but it is also a strong reminder that I shouldn’t be buying liquid / cream products anymore due to their limited shelf life.

  • Still no Guerlain lipsticks over here, haha. The Kiss Kiss ones look lovely, though – do you have any of those? I don’t like the packaging for these either, haha.

    • Lily

Nah, haven’t tried Kiss Kiss. For me, Dior is more accessible and I love my Dior lippies!

  • Nope! None here either! I know everyone loves them, but eh I like the Dior Addicts for sheer lipsticks. If I’m gonna spend money on an expensive lipstick, I want their to be loads of colour! Like the Givenchy Le Rouge I just got from the Sephora Sale. 😛
It’s ver pretty on you though!

    • Lily

Oh, I saw that Instagram photo. Can’t wait to read your post on it 🙂

  • Liz

I don’t know Guerlain lipsticks at all. The packaging actually puts me off because I like a good traditional lipstick cap that just goes on and off easily. I want a Kiss Kiss for the holidays though!

    • Lily

Guerlain is a little too expensive and elusive here in this country. I mean, they’re gorgeous, but… I can’t justify the price >_<

  • lyn

Looking lovely! I think it’s limited edition. It’s one of my faves but I don’t wear it often enough.

    • Lily

That seems to be the most common problem. LOL!

  • Aww thanks for the shout-out, Lily! I’m pretty sure this was LE. I own THREE similar Guerlain shades, but all of them are LE (the other two are Flirt and Illusion)! I take them out often in autumn/winter 🙂

    • Lily

Sometimes I just forget what lipsticks I have >_<

  • What a beautiful shade on you! I only got the palette but went totally gaga when the collection came out. It was one of the most beautiful holiday collections ever. 😉
I really like Guerlain quality but I’m not exactly crazy about the packagings.

    • Lily

Same here. It was literally the only collection that made me drool. Same thoughts about the quality and packaging as well. Those heavy Rouge Gs can kill people!

  • Jaa

The packaging looks like fun to me! 😀 Lovely color on you, Lily! I would only be using it once in a while since it’s LE and all. Would be so sad when it’s gone!

    • Lily

Thanks Jaa… but I probably won’t worry about using it up. LOL!

  • Having a little trouble labelling those swatches, Lily? 😛 😛

This shade looks beautiful on you — no wonder you have so many in this colour family! If I could rock a berry the way you can, I’d never wear anything else.

    • Lily

Erm yeah… hahaha! Definitely mixing up names. I’m getting old, man! I love berry lipsticks… I think it shows 😛

  • LOL Rae’s comment v . This is a gorgeous shade, love a good berry!

    • Lily

      Thanks Taylor 🙂

  • Shu Ting

You must be the chicest pregnant mama! I love all the berry shades you have! Berry lippie rules! (well, most of the time that it). 😀

    • Lily

LOL thanks. I LOVE berry toned lipsticks 🙂
