Review: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex II

Tired looking eyes and dark circles make us all look lethargic, and sometimes even sickly. Luckily, we have concealers and correctors to cover those pesky dark circles, eye liner and mascara to make our eyes look wider ๐Ÿ˜› Then again, they are only temporary measures. What I’d like is something to minimise the dark circles and fine lines around my eyes. That is the main reason I’ve always been consistent with my eye care since I was 25. Aging is something we can never escape, and creams, potions and what nots only delay the natural process.

I am not new to Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex. I discovered it a few years back, and it worked wonders for me! I have repurchased, I have strayed to try other eye creams, and now I am back with their newly reformulated version. Let’s call it the ANREye II. So what is the difference? First of all, I am a few years older, and I have developed some fine lines around my eyes. I don’t have wrinkles just yet (fingers crossed it’ll be a few years yet) but I find that in the last 2 years, my eyes feel drier. Definitely a sign of aging. This eye gel is not creamy in texture. Some might say it feels like silicones, but for me, it is not as slippery as some products I have tried. I use the spatula included to scoop out a pea sized gel, dab some under both my eyes, and using my ring fingers, gently pat the product in. That’s how I like to apply my eye care products. This gel absorb very easily and it is not greasy at all.

After about 2 months of using this, my eyes are definitely more hydrated. The skin around the area doesn’t feel as tight or itchy. The last stages of pregnancy caused me sleepless nights, and now that I’m breastfeeding every 2 hours, I’m not getting any sleep either. Considering all these things, I should be getting eyes even pandas think are awesome. I remember when Ashlyn was a baby, the dark circles were so bad, it looked like I used dark purple eye shadow on my eye bags which dropped to below my cheeks. This time round, my eyes are not as bruised, and I actually don’t look as haggard. I’ll spare you the bare face, because it is the internet after all, and I need to keep some dignity. LOL!ย The ANREye II isย awesome on its own, and even more awesome when paired with the serum that I reviewed before. When paired together, I feel like the effects are stronger. My eyes are more comfortable. But of course, the best remedy for me is sleep so I try to catch on a wink or two whenever I can.

I was sent the ANREye II for consideration purpose, but I know I need another one, so I bought another as backup. I also know I’ll stray to try other eye creams (hey, it’s a blogger’s disease) but if anyone were to ask me, I’d recommend the ANREye II. I’m so lack of sleep that I can’t remember how much I bought it for. If I’m not mistaken, the eye gel is priced at around RM200 or RM220 for 15ml and is available at all Estee Lauder counters nationwide.

Have you tried this? I know some of you are very minimal with skincare, and many of you don’t apply eye creams diligently. It might be a personal thing, but for me, applying eye creams or eye gels religiously, every morning and evening, has helped me delay lines. I am a firm believer and nothing will sway me. Now… if only the baby can feed himself so I can have some uninterrupted sleep….zzzzzzzz…….

  • I’m a believer in eye cream, too, but I guess it depends on your needs. My undereye area is super dry and puffy if I don’t take care, so I have to take care! LOL. I want to try this one! I think I’m gonna go for this next after my Ole Henriksen one is gone. Although I’m worried that it might be *too* rich and give me milia.

If you have puffy undereye, you might want to try the one by Clinique. I think it’s their repairwear line.

  • I have the serum I think in this? I don’t know it’s so confusing to me-there’s like 2 versions of the same thing here in Canada-like they have the same name and everything so I DON’T KNOW. I’ve been trying to remember to use it! I just don’t notice much of a difference with eye creams on me…I usually just bring up my moisturizer under my eyes and around and call it a day LOL.

    • Lily

You’re so lucky to be able to use moisturizer on your eyes! I can’t do that – too rich and I get milia ๐Ÿ™

  • Wait, you have to breastfeed EVERY TWO HOURS? Wow! That is a lot of work!

I use this one, too, and it works pretty well. If I had to choose however, I’d go for the serum and layer something else on top!

    • Lily

Yup, every 2 hours. There are people who have PLENTY of milk but unfortunately, I’m not one of them. So many people say that every woman has enough milk for the baby, but I did check with the doc, and that’s not always the case. So instead of stressing out, I just supplement him with formula.
I’ve tried both the serum and this, and I find that for me, this does the job well enough for me to skip the serum. Of course, it works even better when I combine both of them!

I don’t see any difference between using eye creams and regular facial creams, but I know that I have more lines around the eyes and that alone is enough to get me to use eye creams specifically targeting the area. I also trust that eye creams are formulated to be non-irritating. I’m on the eye cream train from here on out, because goodness knows we’re not getting younger, lol.

    • Lily

Nope, not getting any younger ๐Ÿ™ I couldn’t use face creams on my eyes because they’re usually richer and I don’t want to risk getting milia around my eye area. Those suckers are hard to rid of!
I think in my 20s, I used eye gels just for hydration, and now, I have to look for anti ageing eye creams. Sigh. Age.

I have tried this one and remember liking it. Not too crazy about the silicone-y feeling in the beginning but after a while it didn’t really bother me anymore. I finished my jar but didn’t repurchase yet because I have so many sample jars from other brands that I am going through. I love exploring eye creams, believe it or not. ^_^

    • Lily

I love exploring eye creams too! But when I don’t know what to try, or if I want to play it safe, I go back to this ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Oooh I’ve a sample pot of this sitting untouched, I will bust it out for sure after reading this. My eyes need some TLC. Thanks for reviewing this, Lily!! I cant wait to try it!

      I hope you’ll like it, Shari ๐Ÿ™‚
