Happy New Year 2015 and random thoughts

Happy New Year everyone! 2014 was a year of changes for me, and 2015 will be a year of new beginnings πŸ™‚ I was stuck in a crappy job and decided to quit once I found out I was pregnant. It was the BEST DECISION EVER. That job was literally hazardous to my health and since I left the job, I was never sick once. Most of 2014 was spent being pregnant (haha!) and while the pregnancy was more difficult than I liked, I got to rest and spend quality time with my family without work related stress. I picked up cooking and baking, and never did I realise how relaxing it makes me feel. Also, it’s awesome when baked goodies are appreciated. Our family of 4 is now a family of 5 with the arrival of Ashton in November, and he is now 6 weeks old. So what does 2015 bring?

I’m not sure where I’m taking the blog because it’s tough juggling 2 young children and a newborn AND a blog. However, I promise you I will try to continue to post. I’m targeting once or twice a week at least, and if I can create more content, then you’ll get more. My main focus for this year is to take care of myself. I’ve been a little too indulgent in recent years and the expanding waist line shows. I also have a weak back, and a heavy body isn’t good for my knees either. I’m going to get my health and strength back. This year will be a journey to a better and stronger body. I’m going to take it one step at a time but one year should be long enough to see significant changes. If you’re interested in my progress or what I do, let me know. Perhaps I can share once I see some results? Or maybe it can be a journey I share with you as I go along, the ups and downs, the fails and the little victories? I don’t know. What do you think?

Also, I was wondering if I should pay more attention to short form blogging through Instagram. A lot of you liked my lip swatches from #30daysoflipstick and I was wondering if I should do more of these? Very brief product reviews, product swatches, things I’ve been using, etc. and if you want more in depth reviews, you can read it here. Just a thought.

I don’t have any new year resolutions except for that one goal to a stronger body. Perhaps that one track mind will make me more focused and more motivated. The blog will go on, but if I suddenly go missing for a while, it’s very likely due to lack of sleep and time, hence my brain is not functioning properly. So give me a kick in the butt on Twitter, to rev up my blogging engine, and I’ll be back.

I wish you guys a great new year, and may 2015 be kick ass!

xoxo Lily

Happy new Year Lily!!! I’ll certainly continue to enjoy whatever you share :). I shall look for you over on instagram too. I really need to get strong and healthy this year too; I was really fit at the end of 2013, tore a muscle doing something silly and let everything slide since then!! Reclaiming me this year! So I’ll be really interested in any kind of fitness/lifestyle/progress posts you may choose to put out there.

    • Lily

Oh, injuries are the worst! They set you way back πŸ™ We should proclaim this year as the year of fitness. LOL!

  • Happy new year, Lily! You did great this year! It must be equally exhausting and exciting to have a newborn in the house, and I can’t wait to see more of your babies! As for more Instagram action: I strongly support that!

    • Lily

I hope I can get my act together and post more on Instagram. I get carried away with life as usual, and sometimes, I don’t even post for days!

  • Happy New Year Lily to you and your beautiful family! Yes to more instagram posts-that’s kind of what I’ve been doing too-when I get a new lipstick I post it there with a selfie. Writing about just one lipstick on the blog I won’t do anymore. Too much friggin’ work haha. I want to get stronger too and more focused and organized. I’m going to join a gym that’s just been built too, so that’s going to help me a lot.

    • Lily

I love your glasses and those bright lips, especially the NARS Audacious! You’re really tempting me, Tracy. When they first came out and everyone was writing about them, I was kinda meh… but YOU are making me drool!

  • Jaa

Happy New Year to you and your family, Lily! I strongly support the Instagram intuitive! I’m probably going to do more of that too this year! πŸ˜€ Three kids in the house is no easy job for sure but you’re doing great from what I can tell! I’ll follow your journey of getting a stronger body because truthfully I need to do that, too. I haven’t been as active as I should be! ^_^

    • Lily

Thanks Jaa, and you know what? If we’re busy being active, the blog will take a step back too. Hahaha! But with a bit of planning and time management, I think we can all do it πŸ™‚

  • Happy 2015 Lily!! Wishing you and your beautiful family all the awesome to come! I’d love to join in your journey in taking better of yourself! I’m much in need of a healthier and fitter lifestyle. Cant wait to see more of you on IG! IG blogging is so much easier, I’ve very much neglected my blog for the past month πŸ˜‰

    • Lily

Thank you! I neglect my Facebook for sure, and lately, I’ve been neglecting Twitter and IG as well. Yikes!

  • BlushableMe

Congratulations to you and your new baby! I would be very interested in a series of posts on your fitness/health journey. I find ones that are truly honest and detail the triumphs and backslides to be the most motivational and inspiring. Hopefully having 3 little kiddos running around will help with being more active. πŸ™‚ Happy New Year!

    • Lily

Thank you BlushableMe. Yes, I shall try to post some updates on my fitness journey. Not too regularly but perhaps once a month?

  • Happy New Year to you and your family, Lily!

    • Lily

And to you and your family too Melissa πŸ™‚

  • I like short form blogging, too. I think it’s a good idea πŸ™‚ Helps to stay in the community and share thoughts and feedback, even if there isn’t time or enough material for a full post.

And yes, please do share lifestyle/health type posts and successes! I’m rooting for you! Happy new year, Lily, to you and your beautiful family!

    • Lily

Thanks for your support Larie! I’m so weak at the moment. My core is totally busted from pregnancy, and it’s gonna take a while to get it back in shape.

  • I can NOT imagine how YOU do it, Lily! Being a mom with two (going on three) kids, WORK (back when you were still employed) and a blog! SUPERWOMAN?! I wish you nothing but a happier, more successful and less stressful 2015! You deserve it πŸ™‚ Happy new year!

    • Lily

Thanks Shari. Now I am unemployed but as you know, taking care of a baby is a full time job! Happy new year πŸ™‚

  • Hi Lily, I really enjoyed reading your new year’s post. So glad to hear that 2014 was a year of focusing on family – that’s so lovely. I know what you mean when you said you quit your toxic job – I have kept up with obligations that were actually impacting me negatively and when I stopped, I wondered why I didn’t make the decision to cease earlier! I would love to read about your journey to a healthier you πŸ™‚

    • Lily

Hi YuMing, I’ll definitely be doing some sharing. I’m planning a startup post already!

  • Liz

Hey, you did much more than I did for New Years! I took an intentional blogging break for the holidays but now I’m having a hard time coming back. Not going to force it, so I guess it remains to be seen. I think micro-blogging on Instagram is totally fine. Might indulge in more of it myself.

    • Lily

I guess it’s easier for us to blog according to our mood because we’re not doing it for money? LOL πŸ™‚ Yes, I have the idea of this Insta blogging, but turning this thought into action is another thing. Hahaha

  • Your goals for the new year sound fantastic. At the end of the day, what’s more important? Time spent with your loved ones or working to improve your health versus getting 5 posts up? It’s silly that we’re all so concerned about a job we’re doing for free and feel the need to explain why we’re not cranking out daily content. While I don’t post more than once a week (at best), even I feel guilty and weird sometimes like I’m failing, and that’s just ridiculous. It would be different if blogging was our FT job that we were being compensated well enough to compare to a FT job salary, but outside of that? It’s a hobby, post when you feel inspired to, and don’t worry. You’ve cultivated real friendships here and we will be around for 2 posts a week, or 2 posts every 6 months. We love you!
Best wishes for the new year, my friend! Party on with your family of 5! πŸ™‚

    • Lily

LOL thanks for your thoughts! I think bloggers and some readers will understand this, but not everyone? As a reader, I do appreciate it when I’m informed that the blogger will take a break or let the readers know what’s actually going on behind the scenes that impact the decision though… just because I’m nosy like that. HAHAH! I know for a fact some bloggers won’t even bother explaining because it’s “personal” but like I said, NOSY! πŸ˜›

  • Happy New Year Lily! Your goals are perfect. Stronger body and enjoy your family, they are the things that matter. I really enjoyed your lipstick posts on Instagram by the way…. xxxxx

    • Lily

Thank you Sofia. I was just about to ask if anyone would like more of those lip swatches, or a product a day kinda thing. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’ll try to do more of those πŸ™‚

  • Yvonne Tay

Blessed new year! Love your goal to have a stronger body – my new year resolution is to be fitter too! Would love to have you share your progress and journey, I’m sure it will be interesting! πŸ™‚

    • Lily

Thank you Yvonne. I’m working on a post to put up this weekend. I hope my thoughts are coherent despite my lack of sleep. LOL!

  • silverkis

Happy New Year, Lily!! I’m so glad I got to know you a little better this year, and I wanted to let you know that you’re doing an awesome job. I had a really tough first 6 months with Ezra, and i’m inspired by you now to quit my job and be a better mom! Hahahaa… don’t let my hubby hear that! But seriously, love you here, love you over on Instagram. Wherever you choose to share your thoughts, beauty and otherwise, i’ll be there!

    • Lily

Aaw, thank you Linda for your kind words! You’re just too sweet πŸ™‚
