If you’re in the UK, you would have heard of Makeup Revolution already. If you’re here in Malaysia, this brand might still be new to you. Makeup Revolution was launched in London in March 2014. In less than a year, they have become one of the bestsellers in Superdrug stores in the UK and has now reached our shores. The products are all developed and designed in London, manufactured in Taiwan. So if you’re local, head on over to their website to check them out. If you’re outside of Malaysia, you can visit their online store here. I was sent a few things, some crazy lip colours, a pretty blush and a colourful eye palette. Let me show you the products and swatches here and I’ll come up with looks in future posts.
I was sent mostly the “I Heart Makeup” range. Pictured are Blushing Hearts (RM39), I Heart Makeup The Wow Stick in Atomic (RM29) and Velvet Matte Lip Lacquer in Vamp (RM24) (not from I Heart Makeup). You can click on the links above to get to the Makeup Revolution site to purchase (not affiliated). The Wow Stick is really WOW. Atomic is a bright neon orange and once applied, it stays. I’m not joking when I say it stays. I need to use an oil based remover to get it off. Otherwise, it won’t budge. The same goes to the lip lacquer. It goes on like liquid lipstick and then it sets, dries matte and again, doesn’t budge! I posted the lip swatches on my Instagram account, so head on over to check it out. (Incidentally, there’s a giveaway running on my Instagram account too. So please enter if you like the product!) Personally, I’m not a fan of these lip colours, and I like my lip products to be easily removed. However, if you love your lip colours to stay for a long time, then do check these out.
Blushing Hearts is very pretty. The packaging reminds me of Too Faced, but I haven’t tried that so I can’t compare the formula. For the price, this blush is something I would buy. The blush swatches very well, with no powder kick up. The finish is a little shimmery but without glitters. On the cheeks, it gives a lovely sheen as if I mixed the blush with some highlighter. Below are the swatches.
For eyes, I have the I Heart Makeup Wonder Palette Sin (RM65) and it is definitely for those who love colours and fun in their makeup. If you’re a long time reader, you’d know I’m a neutral buff but these colours look great too! I don’t have any yellow eye shadow in my stash so this palette is a lovely addition. The eye shadows are a mixture of mattes and shimmers, and the mattes unfortunately are a little stiffer than I’d like. Some colours are sheer while some are very pigmented. For example, Golden Gun is a beautiful warm gold in the pan, but it swatches sheer. The yellow (It Works For Me) looks neon, but it also swatches sheer. Here are the swatches so you can see for yourself. My favourite of the lot has to be Glorious Envy. Just look at it 🙂
Last but not least, let me show you the Awesome Metals Eye Foil (RM39). I have to honestly tell you that I’m not sure how to use this properly. The instructions are printed at the back of the box and I did it accordingly. However, the result / finish is better when it is not foiled. I’m a little baffled.
I thought the eye shadow is powdery, but in fact, it is like sticky mousse. Very interesting. I proceeded to foil it according to the instructions and here are the results.
Doesn’t it look better unfoiled? However, the shimmers just sit on top of the dark grey and when it is foiled, the shimmers blend in better. If you guys know how to work this, let me know. I must really suck at this!
I checked out the site for other products, and I see a few neutral eye shadows I quite like too. The lipsticks look well stocked with a variety of shades as well. Have you tried anything from Makeup Revolution? Anything to recommend?
