Sunday Stash Shopping #39: Bobbi Brown Cheeks

There’s a cheek combo I’ve been really enjoying lately. It’s fun and bright, and I think it’s definitely very Spring appropriate. For me though, it’s not about Spring. I just love this bright flush on the cheeks and when paired with fuller straighter brows, gives a more youthful look. Here are the stars of the show – My cream blush crush in Calypso Coral (old packaging) and this Brightening Brick in Pink. Good news is, Bobbi Brown is bringing this brightening brick back, making it permanent. There are also a few other shades to accompany Pink and I got my eye on Coral and Cranberry….and maybe all the rest. They will be launched in February, so if you’re interested, hop on to a Bobbi Brown counter near you. They will be RM175 each. If you want to see me wear this brick as a highlighter, click here.

cheeks

On my face, I use my Bobbi Brown BB Cream as a base before concealing my dark circles. I have been enjoying the RMS ‘un’cover up for this purpose. The combo of the BB Cream and the ‘un’cover up just makes my face look very natural. Before I powder my face, I apply Calypso Coral on my cheeks for that bright flush. Then, I powder my face with this Dior powder (which I want to use up). Using Brightening Brick in Pink, I top it on the apples of my cheeks for that extra flush. This combination of pink and coral makes my cheeks pop. I love that I can only use the top row of the Brightening Brick for sheer highlight, or swirl my brush all over the pan for more pigmentation as blush. The fine shimmers do show up on my cheeks, but instead of appearing glittery, it just makes me glow. ALL LOVE for this brick. Their Shimmer Bricks make me cower in fear (so much bling!) but this is just nice for my taste. Now do you know why I want all of them?

face eyes and lips

For my brows, I fill it in using my Shu Uemura H9 pencil, drawing it with the least amount of arch as possible. My brows are naturally arched, so it’s pretty fake if I drew a horizontal line across it. So, as you can see in the photo below, that’s the best I could do. I also used Clinique’s latest brow product to darken the tail of my brows. More on that at a later review. On my eyes, I skipped any eye shadows, and just opted for a brown gel liner (shown here is MAC Dipdown which I bought a few years ago. Still good though) and mascara. On my lips is NARS Audacious in Anita. My lip swatch of Anita on Instagram was very popular by the way. So I’m not the only one who loves this shade.

Here’s the complete look.

look1 look2

I’ve been loving this fresh combo. The brighter lighter colours and dewy (but not oily) complexion make me look less tired and maybe a little younger. Do you like it?

  • love this look, so natural and pretty!

    • Lily

      Thank you Meiko 🙂

  • elmo the frog

You look great! I think your apple cheeks carry bright blah incredibly well, and that brow shape is just super chic.

    • elmo the frog

      Bright blush *

    • Lily

Thanks elmo the frog 🙂 I’m watching way too many K-dramas and their straight brows… I just had to try it!

  • It looks fantastic, the whole look put together. Do you have a review on that brick?

    • Lily

I didn’t review the brightening brick, Sofia. Would you want me to?

      • Hi Lily, the truth is that you’ve written so much nice things about the brick in this post that it can be considered reviewed and you’ve convinced me to check it out! I find the “normal” BB shimmer bricks too shimmery, but it seems this one gives a nice glow instead. xoxo

  • Bella

Love this look, it is fresh and youthful! I should try something pin on my Calypso Coral. It pulls traffic cone orange on me and I just cannot wear it, when i do not leave the house without my other two pot rouges (Pale Pink and Rose).

    • Lily

Interesting that Calypso Coral is orange on you! I suppose my skin tone pulls out a lot of pink in products. I love Pale Pink! It’s the sweetest pink ever 🙂

  • Hey Lily, I frickking LOVE this look on you!!! I try not to buy more cream blushes because I have several open ones, and those really don’t stay good forever. However, Calypso Coral is definitely on my lust list! You look so healthy and pretty 🙂

    • Lily

Thanks Sunny and I know what you mean by not buying anymore cream blushes. I’ve stopped myself from buying anymore cream products! They die too fast, but these Bobbi Brown ones stay good for a long time. The texture, scent, everything has remained fresh after all these years.

  • Pretty!
I can’t believe there was a time I did not need blush in my routine. I usually go for a soft cool toned pink for a youthful look, but I also think the placement of blush plays a big part.

    • Lily

Thanks Lena and you’re right. Blush placement plays a big part. For this look, I place it no lower than the apple of my cheeks. I pulled it higher than usual so I guess that gives the illusion of lifted cheeks 🙂

  • That lip color is pure PERFECTION! Oh my. Another great look, Lily, you always looks so fresh-faced.

    • Lily

Aaw thank you Melissa. I have to fake that fresh face though. You know, lack of sleep and all. Does all sorts of ugly things to a woman. HAHAHA

  • LOVE!! I might actually look for that BB Brick! BUT ANITA. OMG. My next NARS one for sure! GORGEOUS.

    • Lily

I think Anita will look gorgeous against your skin. I want Charlotte though. That dark red – gorgeous!

  • Liz

You’ve definitely mastered the fresh and glowy look. 🙂 I’m so jealous of that Dior Snow powder — for the fact that it’s available to you and that you hit pan on it, lol.

    • Lily

There are some tiny sparkles in this powder though. One day, my hubs was looking at me really up close then he said “Dear, you have shiny bits on your face”. HAHAHA

  • Anita is so pretty on you! Super fresh and pretty. and yes, that BB brick looks good! I like the one I have, but maybe one with some color would be nice…LOL. IT NEVER ENDS….T_T

    • Lily

It’s a neverending cycle, my friend. These are sheerer blushes that look good no matter what. As if you glow from within 🙂

  • Lily

    Thank you Ghia.

  • Looking at this FOTD now makes me want ANITA. :O Ugh. And your haircut really suits you, Lily!!! 🙂 Loving it more every day!

    • Lily

Thanks Shari. Anita is such an easy colour to wear. You should really try it 🙂

  • Jaa

Do I like it? I love it! Your brows look perfect and natural, Lily! I’m getting more and more intrigued about the BB Brightening Brick!

    • Lily

Thanks Jaa. You should have a look at these bricks. They offer sheer colour which I really like.
