Review: Estee Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening

I am always game for brightening skin care. I usually rotate it with my anti ageing and I always use a serum for hydration. When it comes to brightening skin care from Estee Lauder, the name Cyber White pops into my head. It has been around for quite a few years. So I got curious when this is called Crescent White instead. This is a 24-hour brightening system which is gentle for year long use. It protects by day and repairs by night. Sounds like something a skin care superhero would say. Basically, this system corrects existing spots and prevents future spots. It calms down the skin, prevents dullness and discolorations. Not a new concept. Then again, how radical can skin care be without being scary? LOL!

The first thing I would like to point out however, is the scent of these products. They SMELL GREAT! Nothing like perfume, and I can’t detect the scent of alcohol either. It’s a very lovely subtle floral scent. The texture is another thing to note. I always complained that Estee Lauder should hold back on the silicones, and guess what? NONE of these products have that slippery silicone texture. THANK YOU ESTEE LAUDER FOR LISTENING!

The Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening Cleanser (RM145) is a foaming cleanser that is very rich. A tiny bit is enough for creamy lather. However, my skin has been a little dry lately, so this cleanser tugs on my skin. I follow this with the Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening Moisture Treatment Lotion (RM190) and immediately my skin feels better. The treatment lotion hydrates and preps the skin for the treatments to follow. .

In any skin care regime, the serum is the most potent. Serums contain serious skin care ju ju and that’s why I’m a serum junkie! The Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening Spot Correcting Essence (RM380) evens our skin tone and significantly reduces the look of dark spots. The texture of this serum is liquid and it is absorbed very quickly into the skin. Of all the products featured here, this essence smells the best 🙂 After using it for about 2 months, I notice my skin looks brighter, more even toned and less tired. However, it did not lighten any of my freckles.

In a skin care routine, we always moisturize after serums. The Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening Moisture Crème (RM265) is suitable for both day and night use. It is light enough for a humid day and also rich enough to keep my skin hydrated while I sleep. And you know what? If I use the Estee Lauder ANR serum BEFORE the Crescent White Essence and Moisturizer, I find that my skin is even more supple. In the day, I always follow this with a SPF50 sunscreen. If you like to use everything of the same range, there is the Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening UV Protector SPF 50/PA++++ (RM180) which I don’t have.

Last but not least, this brightening range includes a BB cream in their lineup – The Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening BB Creme SPF 50/PA++++ & Brightening Balm (RM185). This is a universal shade but it leans peach. On my yellow based skin tone that turns red easily, peach is not a good color match. However, the coverage is quite sheer hence forgiving on the mismatched shade. While sheer, this BB cream does even out my skin tone and blurs out my pores and imperfections. I like to use this under my powder foundation. After applying the BB cream all over my face, I apply the Brightening Balm on my cheeks before powdering on top. This gives me a slight glow without looking greasy.

I’m really happy about the change in scent and texture of these new products. They work well on my skin and I’m comfortable to recommend these to you. If I were to pick just a couple of products though, I’d say go for the essence and the BB cream. I like these 2 the best 🙂

  • I always find it interesting to read about skincare ranges that global companies release in certain countries, you know? However, I find it a bit strange that for the Asian market, a BB cream would lean so peachy… Hmm. The essence sounds amazing, I’ll have to look into one of the new essences released here on the US market!

    • Lily

Yup, it would be better if the BB cream was more neutral. The essence is really something. The texture is silky, smells amazing, and I could see brighter skin in 2 months.

  • Paritashah26

ANR is my HG serum and I use it every single day! I dont think this range has been released in India yet..will keep an eye for it..the spot correcting essence sounds good

    • Lily

The ANR is my skincare staple, that’s for sure. I hope you get to try this, Parita 🙂

  • Nathalie Gusone

    Hi Lily,

What an amazing range…I love Estée Lauder products !!!! I really want all of them !

Could you send me pictures of their ingredients list please ?

    • Lily

Hi Nathalie, I was sent these products without their boxes so I don’t have the ingredients list. I’ll ask around and see if I can get something 🙂

  • my biggest issue with anything Estee Lauder was the smell — back in the day literally EVERYTHING smelled liking rotting fruit/flowers! I love ANR so dearly though, so I want to give this serum a try!

    • Lily

Oh, this is definitely a NEW scent for Estee Lauder. You gotta smell it to believe it 🙂

  • So happy there’s no silicones in these! That’s the thing that always bugged me about EL skincare. And I think that’s why it always broke me out.

    • Lily

Eeps, I’m not sure if these are without silicones, but they don’t feel slippery, that’s for sure. I don’t have the ingredients list, so I’ll let you know when I can confirm it.

  • Me, too! Love using brightening (whitening;;) products! But as you said, they have to be multi-functioning. At my age, I can’t just neglect on anti-aging or moisturizing just for brightening itself.
Tatcha regimen was great and did even out my skintone, but I’m afraid it takes something more aggressive actually to work on freckles and dark spots on my face.

    • Lily

I tried the Tatcha brightening serum before. I liked the texture, but it was a deluxe sample so I couldn’t tell if it really worked. Definitely need something more aggressive to get rid of freckles and dark spots… in my case, my freckles are hormonal. I don’t think any skin care will be able to work on that.

  • Thank goodness they finally fixed that smell, lol! Maybe people won’t think of it as a “mature” line any more!

    • Lily

LOL Larie. I think the scent is really classy now. Subtle and lady like… but not grandma lady 😛

  • Liz

I just can’t get into Estee Lauder skincare for whatever reason. But I like your double serum tactic! And good that these left your freckles alone, lol. We’re starting to see more brightening/whitening lines here in North America now.

    • Lily

These would be powerful stuff if my freckles are lightened in 2 months. LOL! And good to know the brightening lines are finally making their way to America. So many readers email me and I feel bad to say “Asia exclusive” all the time.

  • Aw, but freckles are cute! No need to lighten them! I quite like Estée Lauder skin care. And they seem to be upping their game lately.

    • Lily

LOL it’s funny how you guys think freckles are cute. It shows how different our cultures are 🙂 Majority want flawless fair skin. Smooth, supple and again, fair. This is especially true in countries like Korea, China and Taiwan (just to name a few). That’s why brightening skin care is the bestselling range in Asia, and probably why it’s been Asia exclusive for so long 🙂 I can’t imagine it being super popular in Western countries where the majority want to get tanned!! Hahaha

  • Jaa

Estee Lauder is notorious for including silicones in their products so it’s nice to see a change here! I could use some whitening products myself but I seem to love my “tanned” skin! 🙂 I still would like to try the serum, though. I’m running low on the ANR so this is good timing!

    • Lily

LOL Jaa. I really doubt these products will make you lighter than your ‘tanned’ skin. They will contain some serious bleach if that really happened. Hahaha! The serum is good to even out your skin tone and probably lighten some minor dark spots though 🙂

  • Yay i’m so happy you’re loving this range!! And you’re so right about the scent… it’s GLORIOUS!!! And i love the texture of the cream too!!! The serum doesn’t seem to do anything for me though…. :/

    • Lily

I really like the serum! The moisturizer is not bad either 🙂

  • Cika M

What other product you can compare this one to?? I’m currently using SK-II and for some reason its getting dull and darker than my neck, even my
Can this product makes you whiter? Haha thanks

    • Lily

Hi Cika M. I think brightening products work to lighten pigmentation rather than making your skin shades lighter. For that, it really depends on our natural skin tone, whether you tan under the sun, whether you are consistent with sun protection i.e. sunscreen, hats, umbrellas, etc. I would be concerned if the product makes me shades lighter – there might be bleach in the ingredients. LOL!

  • Tin-Wai Lee

What kind of sunscreen is in this? Is it chemical or physical? Thanks!

    • Lily

I think this is chemical sunscreen 🙂
