There’s a nagging question that goes unanswered for a long time. When was the last time I pampered myself? When was the last time I got a massage, a pedicure or even a long hot bath? It’s been a long long time. I just don’t have the time! I wake up early in the morning to the cries of a 3-month old, and I hardly get to sleep more than 3 hours straight. It just feels like life is fast forwarding and also rolling in slow motion at the same time. It’s complex, but moms to newborns should understand. So when I opened a beautiful package from Dior and saw these, I paused for a moment.
I paused and smelled the fragrances, of beautiful peonies, peaches, apricots… refreshing florals that reminded me I needed me-time. I need to slow down for myself and awaken my dulled senses. Somehow, I imagined white satin sheets, morning sunshine, gentle breeze and smooth silky skin. I must be brainwashed by mainstream ads. Oh, in my not very original imagination, there was only the sound of waves crashing the seaside. No screaming toddlers or crying babies.
A shower with the Miss Dior Shower Gel (200ml, RM172) instantly brought back the girl in me. The Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet Moisturizing Body Milk (200ml, RM212) keeps my skin soft and the scent envelopes me in such a way that applying makeup after seems like a new routine. Man, applying body lotion has never felt this satisfying. Or this relaxing. Or this princess-y.
Dare I say that again, that I feel like a princess? I mean, c’mon… look at the packaging – fit for royalty! I love the houndstooth design at the sides of the bottles too. Little details just get me.
Lately, when I don’t want the stronger scent of a perfume, I use a deodorant. I never use deodorants because I never liked the generic scents. This one though, Miss Dior Perfumed Deodorant (100ml, RM129) – I am spoiled. I spray this before I go to the gym. I mean, I really want to smell good despite the stench of sweat. I’ve been taking more protein and my sweat smells really bad. At the same time, I don’t want anything overpowering. Something gentle enough for that whiff of “aahhh” and something that probably disappears in an hour or two.
Last but not least, I want to introduce to you Miss Dior Hair Mist (30ml, RM164). There’s something about flicking your hair and your man catching a whiff of your scent. Not something heady (excuse the pun) but I think it’s very sensual and something sexy about good smelling hair. Imagine your partner giving you a back hug and smelling your 2nd or 3rd day hair. Not. Cool. I’ve been using this, pairing it with Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet EDT (50ml, RM281) and my Miss Dior Eau Fraiche EDP (which I purchased early last year) and they get along well. I am missing my Miss Dior Cherie, a limited edition from a few years back. I hope Dior will bring it back just for a while so I can buy a few backups – pretty please?
Can you tell I love my Miss Dior fragrances? I have a very sensitive nose which can only take subtle scents. Anything stronger will either make me sneeze or give me a headache. I like fresh white florals that aren’t too sweet, but light and young enough that won’t suffocate me in this tropical heat and humidity. Miss Dior fragrances bode well. A good summer / spring fragrance I love.
