Sunday Stash Shopping #46 with Bobbi Brown

Today is a Bobbi Brown Sunday. I got to try the new serum foundation and face mist recently and I thought it would be a good idea to show you how they work. I put together a look that I haven’t done in ages – green! I love my green eye shadows and liners but I’ve been doing the effortless neutrals (read browns) that I’ve forgotten how easy it is to work with greens as well. Here are the products I used for today’s look.

Bobbi Brown serum foundation, brightening brick in Pink, Pot rouge in Pale Pink

For the base, I used the new Intensive Skin Serum Foundation. I prepped my skin with all the skincare necessary before applying this foundation. I also need to use concealer under my eyes (panda alert) and some spot concealing. This foundation gives a light to medium coverage. Initial testing tells me this foundation is quite “moisturizing”, not oily, and I do love the dewy glowy finish. However, I’d need to powder the T-zone so I don’t look TOO glowy. Before I powder, however, I used the pot rouge in Pale Pink on my cheeks. I LOVE Bobbi Brown pot rouges. There’s something about first loves, you know? After setting with powder, I used the Brightening Brick in Pink over the blush very lightly for a slight sheen. I used a fan brush to use this over my eyes too, just for fun πŸ™‚

eye products

I used Bone (top left) all over my lids as a base before applying Forest (bottom left) on my mobile lids. I blend using Heather (top right) just for that slight contrast, and then used Velvet Plum (bottom middle) on my lower lash line. I filled in my brows using Saddle (bottom right) and lined my eyes using their Kajal in Jade. Finish off with mascara. Bobbi Brown is known for her neutrals, and many believe her eye shadows are really sheer. However, my picks here are awesome (because I picked them personally, ahem!) and they are smooth, pigmented and beautiful.

Bobbi Brown Sheer lip color in Nude Beige and face mist

Lastly, I set my makeup with Bobbi Brown’s face mist before applying my lipstick (Sheer Lip Color) in Nude Beige. The face mist keeps the makeup glowy with no trace of powder and so far, I’m loving it. Here’s the final look.

  • Oh love this look on you, Lily! Such a luminous look that suits you very well! Great Bobbi picks! πŸ˜‰

    • Lily

Thank you Alice. I believe a brand can’t do everything right all the time, but these products here that I picked personally are my favourites πŸ™‚

  • That’s a nice smokey green look! And the lippie goes well with it! I haven’t really explored much of Bobbi Brown before

    • Lily

Hi Meiko, thank you! You should go to a Bobbi Brown counter near you and play. I love the creamy matte lip colors. I’d want all the shades of possible. Lol

  • Hey Lily, oh interesting! I’d definitely love to hear more about the foundation, although I’m not sure I need it need it with Dior Nude Air πŸ˜‰ Love the eyes as well! So pretty!

    • Lily

Thank you Sunny. I heard this is quite different from the Dior one. From a quick sampling, this one is definitely more moisturising and forgiving on flakes. Dior is drier to touch and much lighter.

  • I love Bobbi Brown products, I have a ton of stuff! I love the whole look and you, so gorgeous, and the green shadow really makes your eyes sparkle πŸ™‚

    • Lily

Thank you Sofia. It’s been a long time since I wore green eye shadows. I need to pull them out more often. Which BB product is your personal favourite?

      • Gosh, a favourite? I can’t choose! I especially love the pot rouges (various colours) and the cream eyeshadows (various colours too). And then a bit of everything else…

        • Lily

The pot rouges are awesome. I love every single one of them.

  • That’s a beautiful shade of green that you’ve used here. I’ve not come across this colour from Bobbi Brown before but it looks so wearable! x

    • Lily

Thank you Ting! I put together the customised eye palette a few years ago but I’m pretty sure this shade is still available πŸ™‚

  • You look lovely Lily! I want that foundation if it’s more moisturizing-I hope it gets here soon! It sounds like something I’d really like. The mist sounds great too. UGGGH. Too many wants haha!

    • Lily

Hi Tracy. I’m still testing the foundation and observing with eagle eyes and I think it’ll work great in your weather. Not for those with really oily skin though.

  • You look so fresh and pretty, Lily! That serum foundation sounds nice, especially since it’s moisturizing. Bobbi Brown is definitely a brand I haven’t ventured in too much. I need to change that soon. I still haven’t tried their Pot Rouges!

    • Lily

Thank you Tiffany. I’ve tried many other cream blushes but truth be told, I’m happy with these pot rouges only. You have to try it one day.

  • Jaa

Pale Pink Pot Rouge caught my eye big time!! I want to smear it all over my face haha. I have a sample in darker shade and I love the texture. Can’t wait to splurge on a full-size!

    • Lily

I’m glad you like it too Jaa. I have a few shades and if I could, I’d get all of them. But that wouldn’t make sense πŸ˜‰

  • Bellyhead

Wow, this foundation is much higher coverage than many other serum type ones. It looks very nice on you! Any issues with oxidizing? I sometimes have that issue with Bobbi Brown foundations.
Their eye shadow singles are very nice indeed. I wish their LE palettes were a bit more in line with the quality of these stand alone shades. You did such a beautiful classic Bobbi neutral look!

    • Lily

Thanks Belly. I tried using this foundation a few ways – on its own, with loose powder, with powder foundation… I noticed no oxidization. I do remember Bobbi Brown foundations oxidized on me but lately, this one and the long wear even finish compact foundation didn’t oxidize at all.

  • Ahh, I want to try this foundation! It seems more geared toward dry skin types, which is interesting. I have some issues with the BB shade range sometimes, though.

    • Lily

Their shades run yellow, that’s for sure. But that’s why I’m happy about it. I LOVE yellow based foundations to counter my redness. I’m using a shade lighter for this foundation and it works just as well.

  • Liz

Seriously loving Bobbi Brown makeup again after a long break! Swooning at the pretties in your opening picture. πŸ™‚ I’d love to try that foundation but I don’t think it sounds right for my skin type. Not with summer on the way. I’ve been liking green on eyes lately too but more bright, less khaki/olive.

    • Lily

The brightening brick and pot rouge are my favourite! I think the foundation suits certain skin types only (mostly normal to dry) and if the weather is getting hot and humid, anyone with combination skin might complain that it gets greasy while it’s mainly due to their own facial oils as well.
I have a weakness for darker eye colours. I’m also surprised no one mentioned that my eye looked a bit different. There’s actually a bump under my upper lid (doc said it’s chalazion). Heh πŸ™‚

  • Very pretty, Lily! I really like how that foundation looks on you – your skin looks flawless! I’d probably need more coverage, but I really need to give that Plankton serum a try now that I see how flawless your skin looks πŸ™‚

    • Lily

Thank you so much! My skin has been behaving… but I do get one or two breakout around that time of month.

  • That green looks gorgeous on you, smokey and very elegant!

Can you believe I have never tried any Bobbi Brown products?

    • Lily

Thank you Agata. If you were to buy your first Bobbi Brown product, what would it be?
