Max Factor is a brand I never got the chance to try. It was available locally in Malaysia many years ago, maybe 30 years ago? Then it pulled out before coming back again a few years ago – then ended up pulling out again. It was weird seeing them in stores just for a brief moment, and have them clear out again. I wonder what marketing was doing back then. So how did I come about this cream shadow? I wanted to try Charlotte Tilbury cream shadows, and I was talking to my blogger friend Sara about how awesome Tom Ford Naked Bronze was. She then told me about this affordable yet really awesome cream shadow and generously gifted it to me. Thanks Sara, and you are right. This thing is awesome! It stays on my lids with NO creasing or fading the entire day, even without any primer on. I kid you not. The only other cream shadow that performs as well is Tom Ford’s Naked Bronze. Consider my more than impressed!
Here is a very simple look I created, with Max Factor Excess Shimmer in Bronze (click for Sara’s review) on my lids, black liquid liner, coral blush and a sheer coral lipstick.
The bronze is gorgeous on the lids, with tiny gold flecks that adds beautiful dimension. It turns out to be more reddish against my skin tone, but I love love love reddish bronze, so it’s perfect. I don’t need any other eye shadows when wearing this, because even on its own, it is gorgeous. I literally just pat this on my lids, blend out the edges, and used a small brush to take it down to my lower lash line. It’s THAT simple. If I wanted, I could use a black kohl pencil to rim my eyes, smudge it out and make it a more dramatic smoky bronze eye look, but I quite like this cleaner liquid line. I received compliments the day I wore this too!
This cream shadow is definitely a hidden gem in drugstore brands and if you can get your hands on it, GO GET IT!
