FOTD: A Look for Hot and Humid Days

COSME-DE.com and I are collaborating again. The weather here has been ridiculously hot. Chinese New Year days are known to be hot, but man, it’s been hotter than usual. However, we must still go visit relatives and look our best. Well, we do our best to look relatively presentable when we’re sweating so bad. The most important I think is clothes. Keep it airy and light. Pack a face spray in your bag so you can always cool down your face and feel better. Third, keep your makeup light. For me, the most important are brows, eyes and lips. Of course, conceal wherever you need. And if I have to, I will touch up with powder.

I have always loved my Shu Uemura H9 brow pencil in Stone Gray. I never brought it to the shop to sharpen it to a sword shape because there isn’t a store in my town and I find it inconvenient. So, I just sharpen it as you would your pencil. Shu Uemura came up with another version last year (I think), called brow sword. It’s already in a sword shape and you don’t have to sharpen it. There’s also a spoolie on the other end which is very convenient.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar is a cream shadow in stick form and the one I have here is in Brown Perfection. It’s a dark brown with satin finish, and it somehow reminds me of MAC paint pot in Constructivist. I wasn’t impressed with Misty at all, but Brown Perfection is awesome. It has amazing staying powder, never smudged but before it sets, I could still blend it to smokey perfection. However, on a hot humid day, I’d prefer to use it as a liner. I use an angled liner brush to pick up some product, and draw a thin line close to my lash line. I prefer it this way. In another photo below, I drew it thicker. This would be more suitable if you have very hooded lids and a thin line is not enough for you. As you can see, my lid folds right around the area, but there is no smudging the whole day. Just add mascara and eyes are done. Simple and pretty.

For the face, I used some concealer where needed and dust my face with Guerlain Meteorites Light Revealing Compact Powder. It takes away shine and replace it with glow. Never cakey no matter how much you pile it on, pure magic.

Look below – something I prefer. Brows done, eyes lined, mascara 2 coats, neutral blush, natural lips.

This is another alternative which is a tad bit bolder. Just a tiny bit. Thicker eye liner, brighter blush, brighter lips.

  • Well I can’t think of wearing any make-up on hot+humid summers of Mumbai. Anything just melts down on me, especially if I am not in controlled environment. However, loved your version of make-up for humid weather and for a flawless skin like yours you can get away with as little make-up. For me its either no make-up whatsoever, or, full cake face make-up 😀 😀

Hi Eesha, I’ve heard that Estee Lauder Double Wear foundations are great for when you need higher coverage foundations to stay. They’re supposed to be iron clad!!

  • Lovely looks! I didn’t know Shu had a sword brow pencil, I’ll have to look at it!

Yes, I think these were launched around the same time Bobbi Brown released theirs 🙂

  • Emma Bovary

Gorgeous looks, and good tips for hot weather too! I’m just inside from hanging out my washing outside and boy the sun is beating down hard!

We’ve had to go visit relatives and just going in and out of the car is difficult for us. The heat is unbearable! Kind of ridiculous
