Pop, Pop, Popping It With Clinique

… And that will be Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in 07 Sugar Plum Pop, Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer in 06 Love Pop and Clinique Lid Pop in 03 Cocoa Pop. Whew. That’s a whole lot of POP! I’m most excited about the Lid Pops because I love the formulation of Cheek Pops and wondered if this will be similar. I’m happy to report that these eye shadows are just as great. They don’t kick up any powder, and the shade that I have, Cocoa Pop is a beautiful neutral dark brown. I can pick up products using brushes and fingers with no problems, and a dense eye shadow brush packs on more punch pigmentation wise. For a sheer wash of shadow on my lids, I like to use a medium fluffy brush.

In the photo below, I use Cocoa Pop on my lids after lining my eyes with a brown liner. In this case, I used Clinique Quickliner For Eyes Intense in 03 Intense Chocolate. I bought this liner a while ago, and while I love the color, I didn’t like that I could only twist it out and not in, and the pencil itself is a bit too soft for me. I’m not very gentle 😛 You can see that it adds just the right touch of depth to the eyes and while Cocoa Pop is a dark brown shade, it is still great for day.

The lip color I’m wearing here is Sugar Plum Pop. It’s a sheer pinky plum that feels like a tinted lip balm. I dropped it and the bullet broke at the root, so I now have a wonky lipstick that wiggles when I swipe it on my lips left and right. It can still be used, but because it moves, the sides of the lipstick bullet grazes the lipstick tube – hence, the bullet itself looks pretty beat up if you know what I mean. LOL! I prefer to let it stay that way because I like to apply my lipstick from a bullet instead of transferring it out and apply with a lip brush. I realized that I must really like this Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Color because I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise! I like that it’s an easy color I can pair with everything and anything, and I can also use it as a moisturizing base for other lipsticks.

With the same makeup on, I applied another lipstick, and here is the Lip Lacquer in Love Pop. It’s quite shiny and it’s more like a thicker gloss than anything else. It doesn’t stain my lips, and it doesn’t stay on the lips very long either. It’s very shiny, and if you love the shiny wet effect, then this is for you! Is there a lipstick in this EXACT shade though? I love this color! On my cheeks I’m wearing Ginger Pop which I bought when it first came out and on my brows I’m wearing their browscara in Black/Brown. I bought this myself after trying their PR sample. That only means I love it 🙂

I’m also wearing their soon to be released cushion foundation (Super City Block BB Cushion Compact) which has SPF50. I’ll do an in depth review soon. Here are the swatches of the 2 lipsticks and 1 eye shadow.

I only swiped 1 pass of the eye shadow on my dry unprimed arm. It’s smooth and not too buttery. Look at Love Pop though. I love that shade. Please tell me there’s a lipstick in the exact shade. These will be available in April but if it’s already launched where you are, have you tried them? I think I’m going to get a few more Lid Pops, not because I need anymore eye shadow, but they are just so cute! What do you think?

  • I want the green one! Although it’s more of an antique green or khaki? It just looks so pretty! As for the lips I think I’ll pass on them I’m too addicted to the new Bite Beauty ones HAHA.

    • Lily

I hope Bite will reach our shores one day so I can do a swatch fest. I bought some MJ lipsticks though. They’re really quite nice!

  • I also have Cocoa Pop plus a couple other of the new releases. I need to post a fotd soon! I like both lip colors on you.

    • Lily

I’ve been offline so I haven’t checked my feed yet. Have you done your fotd? Can’t wait to see it!

  • The packaging of the whole range is so cute 🙂 That eyeshadow looks like the kind of shade I would wear very very frequently! It looks great on you too.xx

    • Lily

I find it really cute without being overly kawaii 🙂 And this IS a very easy shade to wear. I’ve been wearing this a lot lately.

  • This pop obsession is so weird, hahaha. But they look pretty! I might look into the gloss thing if it’s not sticky!

    • Lily

I know. I think pop is a little overused. Lol! The gloss isn’t too sticky but it’s a little heavier than Dior ones. Definitely less sticky than, say, Bobbi Brown ones.

  • Liz

You look great and I’m totally on board with all the pops despite the weirdo names, lol. But I still won’t need new makeup for years and years, so I just stare at these while the prices continue to creep up here in Canada. Ah well… I’m sure something new and exciting will be around by the time I need to get something. 🙂

    • Lily

Definitely Liz. There are so many foundations I love to try at the moment, but by the time I get through mine, I’m sure there’ll be even more exciting things then. Bring on the future! LOL

  • Those Lid Pops sure are cute! And I love this look on you… so effortless and yet so well done! Maybe apply the lipstick with a brush now to keep it from falling out all over again? 😉

    • Lily

I am just so lazy, I don’t like applying lipstick with a brush, unless I really have to (like those really dark shades that just don’t apply evenly). So I’m applying it from the bullet anyway. If it really breaks, then… well, RIP. LOL!
