Review: Bobbi Brown Skin Nourishing Glow Foundation

Bobbi Brown Skin Nourishing Glow Foundation (RM205) has been available in stores since January 2016. The foundation is designed for dry to normal skin types and I love that they didn’t stick with the packaging design of the Intensive Skin Serum Foundation. While I really liked that foundation, the dropper just didn’t work. This comes in a new easy-to-use airless pump that allows ingredients to stay fresh, maximizing the formula’s performance.

The foundation is lightweight, and feels like a light mousse. It’s actually a hybrid cream foundation that is richly emollient but it doesn’t feel heavy at all. It has potent moisture-reviving extract and collagen-enhancing ferment in the ingredients to sooth and comfort drier skin. Bobbi says that this foundation keeps your skin comfortable even during winter, but I live in a tropical country, so is it WAY too heavy for us?

Bobbi Brown Skin Nourishing Glow Foundation

The answer is no. I actually really like this foundation! I was surprised because I expected it to be really heavy, but the texture is, dare I say, lighter than the Intensive Skin Serum Foundation. It does not make my skin oily, but it provides a beautiful glow my skin needs. My skin is usually normal, but after 2 weeks of viral fever and cough, it got really dry and lifeless. I tested this foundation during those dry times, and it’s been lovely. My skin is instantly brought back to life, and dry patches just disappeared. Now that I’m feeling better, and my skin is less dry, more normal, I’m still loving it! I just add some powder on my T-zone as a finishing touch and I’m good to go.

I’m not sure about collagen-enhancing ferment, whether or not my skin is lifted, but I can tell you that this foundation provides radiance and moisture immediately! I can’t tell you enough how luminous this foundation looked on my skin. I wonder if the before after photos do any justice!

As you can see in the larger photo above (to show you my problem areas), while my pores are still visible, my skin does not look oily, and you can hardly tell there are any dry patches on my skin. My cheeks look so smooth and flawless, I’m in love. Redness is completely gone, and the 2 little bumps – thanks hormones – on my left cheek (your right) look less visible. One thing you can’t tell in the photos is that I was sent the wrong shade.

The shade (Beige) is about 2 tones darker than my skin (I usually take either Warm Ivory or Sand), so I have to mix it with something else to lighten the shade. I tried it with Bobbi Brown CC Cream in Pale Nude and the Intensive Skin Serum Foundation in Warm Porcelain, both of which are lighter than my skin, and the best result came from mixing with the foundation. Perhaps it’s the similar tone and texture, but I absolutely love it. In the swatch below, you can tell how much darker Beige is against my skin. I mixed it with both Pale Nude and Warm Porcelain to show you my experiment.

When I mix this with the Intensive Skin Serum Foundation, the glowy finish is maintained. Even my mom asked me what I was using on my skin and when I showed her this Skin Nourishing Foundation, she tried it on immediately. Beige suits her skin perfectly. Needless to say, it’s now in her daily makeup routine, and she is absolutely loving it too! My mom is already 61 years old and she has dry skin, but she hates heavier foundations which she claims make her face sweat. LOL. I’m really sad I lost this foundation to her because I really love it.

Do you think it’s a good excuse to get another bottle in my shade? But I still have so many other foundations…. URGH! Have you tried this? If you have drier skin, this is heavenly and you must try it!! Have you? There are 9 shades available, so you might want to go try it out. It provides a good medium coverage, just enough for me to be able to skip concealer. I didn’t notice it when I had it on, but on my mom, I could tell that her skin looks so much smoother.

In short, a glowing review for this glowy foundation for dry to normal skin.

  • THIS IS PERFECT, LILY. I’m looking for a new foundation and I really love liquids, and this one looks like it doesn’t have any sunscreen, so EVEN BETTER. You look great! But you always look great 😛 LOL at your mom stealing it.

    • Lily

Aaw thanks Larie. I’m still waiting for the PR to get back to me, but she’s only getting back in the office next Thursday. I’ll keep you updated!
And now that I think about it, I’m not too upset about losing it to mom. I still have a few foundations I like… Seriously though, my mom thinks she has dips on all the makeup I have. She’s like “but you have so many, you won’t miss it”. Hahahaha!

  • Now I want another foundation. Help me!!! It looks so good on you. I am also shade Sand, can’t wait for this one to hit the counters here. I am all in for the glow!

    • Lily

And the best thing is, the glow is subtle, and just right 🙂

  • Nathalie Gusone

As usual, BB gives us an amazing foundation that looks well with your skin !! Nice swatches Lily…but what about ingredients ?
Can you add a pic of its full ingredient list please ?

Hi Nathalie, I wasn’t sent the box so I don’t have the ingredients. Let me ask the PR rep, but she’ll only be back in the office next Thursday. Once I have it, I’ll update the post!

  • BB Skin Nourishing foundations looks so so nice on you and that natural glow is so gorgeous. I must u have a lovely skin 🙂

    • Lily

Thanks Eeshal. It’s a lovely foundation. I’m still contemplating getting another one in my shade. It gives my skin a gorgeous finish.

  • NEED! Sounds like something that will work for me! And haha at our mom stealing it that’s awesome! This looks lovely on you!

Sigh, I have a feeling this is Asia exclusive. I searched for reviews online, and mine is the only one that popped up. No news from any blogs from the US. The only one is ChicProfile, but she also said this is Asia exclusive. That’s kinda sad because I think many will like this foundation. Even those with normal skin.

      • Say it isn’t so! I would hate it to be Asia exclusive especially when I am not travelling to Malaysia any time soon. 🙁

  • This sounds like heaven sent for my dry skin, I too love Intensive Skin Serum foundation but omg, the packaging is super messy and I’ve wasted so much because of the damn dropper. Not sure if I want to buy another Bobbi Brown foundation when I only recently purchased Intensive Skin Serum but it sounds so dreamy. Ahh, the dilemma that you put me in…. Haha!

    • Lily

I heart this so much more than the intensive skin serum foundation but if you have drier skin and the weather is dry, this skin nourishing foundation might not be enough. I think this is Asia exclusive but if you need me to get it for you, let me know. I can help you buy and send it over.

LOL! I love that you lost this one to your mom! <3 It looked great on your skin in the photos. Maybe add it to your wish list for when you finish up the next bottle of foundation?

    • Lily

And when I use up the next bottle of foundation, something else will come up. LOL! You’re a monster in using up foundations though!

  • Oh gosh ok, i NEED this now!!!

    • Lily

You need to try it for sure!

  • This one looks so good! haha about your mom stealing it. I think that’s a legit excuse to go buy another and then you can get the proper shade too!

    • Lily

LOL right? I’m so tempted to get one for myself, but it just doesn’t make sense for me to buy another foundation. I have a hard time using them up as it is!

  • Jun

    I’m using this foundation.
And it works great on my skin, lightweight and not cakey!
    I have combination skin.

  • Sounds Great!
This is on my lust list 🙂

    • Lily

Hope you get to try it!

  • Annie Phuong Lam

I am not sure which one to choose, Nourishing Glow or Moisture Rich Foundation? I have samples on both Intensive serum and moisturizer rich, and I like Moisture Rich best.
Have you every tried Moisture Rich, Chloe? thanks

    • Lily

Hi Annie, sorry I haven’t tried Moisture Rich Foundation before. Sounds like a really moisturizing one 🙂 Perhaps get a sample of each and see which one you like more?
