The Olive Tree

The Olive Tree is a Malaysian company that sells natural body and hair care products. The products are all made in Australia and they are cruelty free. Ingredients used are all plant based, without parabens, synthetic colours and fragrances, petroleum, phtalates and SLS / SLES. I am particularly interested because the products are without SLS. I read through ingredients in some of the organic products that I have, and most of them have SLS in their ingredients.

Rose Geranium Body Lotion (RM69.90)

Rose geranium oil is an ingredient that has astringent, stress relieving and hormonal balancing properties. It feels lightweight on my skin, and is absorbed rather quickly. I usually apply (when I do) body lotion at night before bed and I sleep in an air conditioned room. My skin is noticeably drier on my shins and feet and when I have this body lotion on, I wake up to really soft skin. I don’t know if it relaxes me because I’ve been really tired lately and have been sleeping earlier than usual 🙂

Rosemary & Mint Shampoo (RM79.90)

This shampoo is suitable for those with normal to fine hair. It stimulates blood flow to the scalp, promoting hair growth, while giving fine hair more volume. I’ve only been using this for 2 weeks so I can’t attest to hair growth properties, but it does give my fine hair more volume at the crown. However, I find this shampoo quite drying, and I must use conditioner after the shampoo.

Handmade Soap (RM24.90)

There are 4 types of handmade soap – lavender, lemon myrtle, olive and tea tree. I think the one I received is Olive Soap, can’t be sure. It doesn’t smell like much, and it doesn’t lather well. I don’t mind that much at all, because it cleans my skin without stripping off my body’s natural oil. Bar soaps usually makes my skin squeaky clean and dry, but this one keeps my skin moisturized.

If you’re interested in the ingredients, just click on the header links above (non affiliated) because the website lists out all the ingredients used. In short, The Olive Tree offers quality cruelty free products that are free of harmful ingredients. For me, the first thing I’d order for myself and my family will be the soaps and body wash. I think it’s quite easy to find products that are paraben free nowadays, but it’s quite difficult to find those free of SLS. The packaging is simplistic and fuss free, in line with the concept of the company.

If you’re looking for something natural and cruelty free, then I recommend The Olive Tree. The prices are very reasonable as well.

  • Too bad the shampoo is drying! But the other things sound pretty nice!

The shampoo gave my roots a nice lift! Other things are nice. The soaps, I think, are great for drier / sensitive skin 🙂

  • The shampoo sounds lovely, I have thin fine hair so anything that gives my hair a much needed volume is welcome. I always use conditioner after shampoo so the drying part wouldn’t bother me. I really like the packaging too, it’ll look great in my bathroom.

      Not to mention affordable!

  • I love rosemary mint scented products! I have a weird shampoo conditioner hybrid thing that I’m actually using now that is rosemary mint, and I like it a lot…I should review it, but I think it might be an American brand that is only available here. Have to check.

My hair and scalp are really fussy. Not many shampoos please them 🙁
