My First Ever Flat Iron

I never style my hair myself. I don’t know how to! That’s why I either keep my hair long (pulled into a high bun) or short. The most I’d do with my hair is to blow dry it. In this heat though, I’d want to keep my hair wet to keep cool! And it doesn’t take long to air dry my hair. I have fine straight hair, so I never really have to worry about it looking frizzy or out of place. When I want it wavy or curled, I’d go to the professionals. I’ve been contemplating on getting myself a flat iron for a long time. It’s versatile because I can make my hair even straighter, or I can curl it. Then I received an email from Irresistible Me about their ceramic flat iron and thought I’d give it a try.

I don’t know what to expect from a flat iron, to be honest. This Diamond Professional Flat Iron is supposed to feature their “unique DIAMOND Hi-Tech, which coats the floating ceramic plates with crushed diamond particles mixed with tourmaline. The diamond and tourmaline technology will protect your hair and keep all the natural hair oils, color and moisture in, leaving your hair healthy, shiny and frizz free. The styling will last longer against air humidity and everyday stress”.

Irresistible Me ships internationally (for free if purchase is above $150) and before using, you might want to note the different plugs we use. Theirs is obviously the US version, so for me, I have to get a plug adapter. Another thing is the voltage. If your power supply is higher in voltage, it might fry your flat iron. However, it takes the range from 120 to 240V so it is OK in my country.

Edited: I received an email from Irresistible Me and their response to this is such – so the voltage of the iron is actually dual and that means that the iron will change voltage automatically to the on in your country or any other countries you want to travel with it so aside from the adapter to help with putting it in the socket the iron will not fry in any way because of the difference in voltage. I stand corrected.

The flat iron is easy to hold and curl even for a newbie like me. It grips my hair nicely and it doesn’t tug. The temperature can be adjusted from 150C to about 220C depending on what setting you need. I must remember to unplug after using because even though this device is switched off, it does get hot (if the main power source isn’t switched off). In the photo below (right photo), a green light will indicate the setting of the iron. It is switched off when I took the photo obviously.

Chloe has very thick hair, and her hair is naturally wavy. She cut her hair short a couple of months ago, and it just never sits right. I try to blow dry her hair to make her hair neater, but her hair is so stubborn. It didn’t help. When I used this however, her hair isn’t flipping left right and center anymore! Oh, by the way, in case you didn’t know, ALWAYS use the flat iron when the hair is fully dry. It won’t work otherwise. After I used the flat iron on her hair, it stayed that way until she washed it the next day.

I tried curling my own hair, and it worked on the sides. The back is a different story. I can’t see what I’m doing. I’m afraid of burning my own fingers, and I have no idea which part of my hair is curled and which part isn’t! Also, HOW DO YOU FRIGGIN CURL THE HAIR AND LOOK GOOD? I searched all over YouTube and they make it look so easy. It isn’t! I feel like after I curled it, my hair looked messier somehow! Maybe it’s the way or direction I curled it, I don’t know. It just looks like a hot mess. I’m not even showing you the back because teehee, I didn’t curl it. HAHAHAHA! Here’s my pathetic attempt but I tried very hard.

In short, this ceramic flat iron is easier to maneuver than expected. Hair still looks smooth and shiny after styling. It’s easy for me to use on Chloe and Ashlyn but on me, it’s really a skill issue. I curled Ashlyn’s hair and she looked like a princess! But again, it must be the direction I curl (and the extreme lack of skillz) because some parts of her hair looked great while others, erm, not so much.

Do you use these styling tools? Can someone please TEACH ME???

xoxo Lily
