Less words, more pictures! This collection is available since 1st of this month so you might have tried them yourself already. If you’re not in Malaysia, you might already have this since last month. Oh before you continue to swatches and mini reviews, please note… picture heavy!

Dior summer 2016

Here are some of the things I have. If at a glance, nothing impresses you, I urge you to try the powders. I tried the nail polish (RM125) first, and they’re cute, a pair of complementary colors with a dotting tool to play with. I realized I’m not that uncoordinated after all. That, or it’s just very easy to make dots. Hhmmm…

Pastilles

The lip products are great, just as I expected from Dior. The Milky Tint (RM120) is very light and it doesn’t feel sticky or heavy. Dior Addict in Appeal (RM115) is very sheer though.

The eye shadow palette (RM265) is a little underwhelming while the fluid shadow (RM119) is something to look at. The liquid eye shadow does not budge on my lids. It’s quite impressive! It’s also easier to apply than I thought. Instead of applying it straight from the wand, I place some product at the back of my hand and then apply it onto my lids using either my finger or a brush. Works great both ways.

Now the powders. They don’t look impressive. Summer Glow (RM225) looks like very shimmery loose power and Nude Glow (RM248) is just a pretty lilac compact. So what? Look at the swatch. I wouldn’t look at it twice. On the face however, it’s a completely different story. Summer Glow adds a sheen of golden peachy warmth to my face, without looking fake or shimmery at all. On medium skin, it brings a glow to the complexion. I tested it on Ashlyn so I know it looks gorgeous! I don’t apply using the puff though. I use a blush brush and apply it across my cheeks and nose. Nude Glow in 025 Fresh Rose is a highlighter with flashes of lilac. I haven’t seen anything like it to be honest. They’re a beautiful combo!

I wish the photos translate the beauty, but I just can’t capture it no matter how hard I tried. Here are 2 photos using the eye palette and powders, and Milky Peach. The first one is taken in natural light. You can’t see the powders in action at all. You can see some warmth but not that glow. The next is taken in low light, in front of my vanity. You can see something, but not much. You can head on to my Instagram for that photo which looks more obvious. You can also see the nail polish in action.

Have you tried anything from this collection? Trust me on this one. Try the powders ON YOUR FACE and tell me what you think!

  • I just headed over to that Instagram pic again and I have to say I love how the highlighter looks!

    • Lily

I’m not a highlighter person. I have high cheekbones and don’t need it emphasized but this one with those pretty flashes of lilac is so mysterious!

      • Hahaha I also have high “good-ish” cheeckbones and I’ll tell you a secret: I don’t even own a highlighter. Ok I lie, I have a couple of samples from when I buy stuff, but never finish them to actually buy one. If if I really wanted some sparkle, I have a light sparkly eyeshadow or two that would do the trick 😉

        • Lily

LOL! I think I only have 3 highlighters. One is a limited edition from Guerlain (Cruel Gardenia) and another is from Kevyn Aucoin, Candlelight. Now I have this.

  • Ooh that lilac powder!!!

    • Lily

      YES. Gorgeous!

  • There’s no Freshrose and there’s only Amber on Sephora here. 🙁 But Summer Glow is added to my Sephora Love list, hopefully I’ll get to pick it up soon, it’s sooooo pretty!

    • Lily

Oh no! Did you get to try summer glow yet? I’m still using it. So beautiful!

  • We don’t have Freshrose here I think-only the more tan ones and they’re pretty peachy in shade. I have to try them and the loos powder still, but I’ve been so lazy haha! The eye palettes are just SO disappointing…why Dior can’t make better eyeshadows really confounds me.

    • Lily

This eye palette is quite underwhelming that’s for sure. I have friends who love it though. I think Asians in general (and I’m just being very general here) prefer sheerer texture and neutral shades. Those who like a punch of colour will probably love urban decay – and I see many of them too! I think the main turn off here is the price.
I’d probably use the money to buy the powder instead. I friggin love it!

  • Bugs

You make me want to run out and get the powder Now ! I need to start wear some colour again, else the mold would cover me all up, after 3 yrs of taking care of my precious and neglecting myself. Sad. I got the unbalance feeling too especially when I see photos of ppl with kids travelling while I’m at home, with a “UHU” stick following me everywhere, and a super busy husband who is married to his work and can’t help much.

Was too tired that I took a nap at 8pm till 11pm just now, and I’m wide awake now. @_@

    • Lily

Hey Bugs, so your toddler must be 3 now. Such a cute age!! Yes, they are like glue for sure, but that’s because you’re the toddler’s EVERYTHING! I have 3 monkeys now, and all I can say is, enjoy it while you can. They do grow up very quickly, and when they’re running around on their own, going out without you, you’ll be missing these UHU days. I sure do now, and my 2 older daughters are only in primary school 😀 I still have a sticky one at home and he’ll still be sticky for a few more years. Hahahaha!

Wow! Those powders both look and sound gorgeous! *Adds to mental wish list* Loved this post, Lilz! You look radiant!

    • Lily

Thanks Kristen. The powders are gorgeous. I think you’ll like Summer Glow!

  • The powders are so pretty!!! I was thinking to myself that I should probably get rid of Dior Aurora from sooooo many years ago…maybe time to update, eh? *wink wink nudge nudge*

    • Lily

Oh yeah. I have the Dior Aurora but the newer version. I’ve hit pan on it! This one is really beautiful as a warm blush. Might be too light and peachy as a bronzer i dunno.

  • I picked up the powders just because of you!!!

    • Lily

Lol yay! Did you like them?
