Review: Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream

Update (7 June 2017)

The cream is pulled out of the shelves quickly and quietly, and I don’t even know when they did that. Kiehl’s did not issue an official statement about this. I wrote another post about this issue <here> and I’m curious to see what their next course of action is.

Update (9 June 2017)

Kiehl’s responded to my email and said that anyone who purchased this cream can take it back to the nearest Kiehl’s to get an exchange or refund. Attached is the email.

…………

I bought the Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream (50ml, RM254) a few months ago when I was shopping in KL. I bought it mainly because of the manuka honey in the ingredients. I’m crazy about the healing properties of manuka honey, and I was sold especially when this one has red ginseng root as well. I’m a firm believer of the energizing properties of ginseng. It has helped me recuperate many a time from fatigue, from delivering 3 children and it just gives us an all round wellness. I usually have it with double boiled chicken essence. Very Chinese, I know 🙂

Let me just tell you right now that I LOVE IT!! It has a sticky texture, but goes on smoothly on the skin without feeling tacky. Once it warms up, it spreads smoothly and in just a short while, it is absorbed into skin making it feel soft and supple. If I feel like I’m about to break out, with maybe bumps under the skin, this cream, along with Antipodes Manuka Honey Mask helps calm it down. When my skin feels particularly dry, I’d add 2 drops of oil into this moisturizer. So decadent and so good for the skin!

You don’t need a lot of this cream because it ‘stretches’. I’ve been using mine regularly for the last few months, with breaks in between to test other creams and I’m only one third down. While I can’t give all the credit to this cream, my skincare routine has kept my skin happy and bright.

Without a doubt, this is one of my favourite moisturizers so far and from the sheer amount of moisturizers I’ve tried, it’s quite a big claim! From the price point to the effectiveness, there really isn’t anything I don’t like about this moisturizer. Have you tried this?

  • This cream looks and sounds like it has an interesting texture, you got me interested! I don’t know about MANUKA honey, but I remember once I had (probably hormonal) incredibly sensitive skin, itchy, painful and sort of beginning to break out. I read somewhere to use honey to wash my face, I did it only once, and the result was pretty miraculous! Suddenly soothed, smoothed, glowing, breaking out cancelled. Yes to honey!

Every time my throat starts to feel like it’s acting up, I’d take manuka. My kids love it too. And I really like this cream so if you have normal to dry skin, I highly recommend it!
Also, I bought the oil you like. Haven’t tried it yet though.

  • This sounds heavenly and Kiehl’s has long been a brand that I wanted to try but just never got to it. I am constantly growing in skincare and I think I’ll only get to this brand when I quit blogging.

I know what you mean! But you know what, this is a cream I will definitely repurchase.
