Review: Clinique Chubby In The Nude Foundation Stick

Looking for an affordable fuss free foundation? Sounds like an ad, I know… but I really like the ease of a foundation stick! I raved about mine a while ago, but this one is even easier on the wallet. Have you heard of Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick (RM138)? If there’s a Sephora near you, you might have seen it. I’m surprised this is only available at Sephora stores. I also checked Sephora online, but it’s not available.

As you can see above, it’s a twist up foundation stick in a chubby holder. Nothing much to explain, except that it’s handy and convenient. You can just throw it in your bag and touch up whenever you want. The texture is smooth and slightly powdery but it doesn’t drag the skin. I just draw a few lines on my face and blend away. It works well with sponges and brushes, and also fingers. The shade I have is 02 Abundant Alabaster. I thought it looked a bit pink when I swatched it, but once blended into my skin, the colour matches. As you can see in the photos below, it brightens my skin a little, while evening out my skin tone. It also takes away some of my dark circles, which is great because it means I can just skip concealer.

Here’s a close up of how the foundation looks like on my skin. You can still see the pores but overall, there is no flaking or streaking, and you definitely cannot see any foundation sitting on top of my skin. This foundation wears quite well too. In this hot and humid weather, it lasts for 5 hours without any powder (that’s when I usually get home and take off my makeup) and I’m guessing with powder, I should be fine for another 3 hours. The foundation didn’t oxidize on me, which I appreciate. Many foundations go a shade darker on my skin, and some just make my skin look dull and dark but this one remained bright and even.

The only gripe I have is the availability of this foundation. Sephora is not as widely available as Clinique counters themselves, and it bogs my mind why this should be Sephora exclusive in Malaysia. If it’s available online at Sephora, then everybody can enjoy it too, but nope. I think this is a foundation that many will appreciate and Clinique, you’re just cutting yourself off. I suggest you do yourself a favour and make this available at your own counters!
