Sunday Stash Shopping #93: Etude House Blend for Eyes #04 Cozy Beige

I never really look at Korean makeup, especially Etude House, because my experience with them many many years ago left a bad impression. I remember their eye shadows used to be gritty and powdery. They’re gone as soon as I applied them. Then, my blogger friend Lena posted some really nice Korean makeup on her blog, and I decided to give it a try. I bought the Etude House eyeshadow quad and a brow pencil to try, and you know what? They improved tremendously.

The eye shadows are not as pigmented and soft as say, Urban Decay eye shadows. These are densely packed, and while they go on sheer, they can be layered for more pigment. I personally like to go very light handed with my makeup and layer slowly to minimize mistakes, so I don’t mind the texture at all. The bottom left shade, the metallic rose gold is an exception. While the rest are satin, this is wetter and definitely very pigmented. All these shades apply well with a brush, without kicking up any powder, and I like to use the metallic shade using my fingers.

Here’s a look I created.

Ivory all over my lids, the burnt orange on my crease, metallic rose gold on my lid and dark brown smudged along my lash line. Here, I used a black pencil liner to tightline. And mascara of course – smudged some on my left lid. A mistake I make quite often, honestly. I always smudge mascaras on my lids. Anyone else, or is it just me? LOL! The brow pencil goes on a little waxier than I’m used to, but it’s great to fill in gaps and for those who have less hair.

Have you been playing with K-makeup? They’re widely available where I am, but overpriced. I prefer getting them online because they’re cheaper.

So what have you been up to? Since I shut down Twitter, I feel like I have one thing less to keep up with. I’m quite happy about that. Some of you contacted me after saying that you usually get notification of my post upload using Twitter. I apologize for that. Perhaps try getting it sent to your email? Or subscribe through Bloglovin? I personally use Feedly as a reader. And some of you didn’t even know I’m off Twitter!

I’ve been busy with the kids as usual. Ashton has been refusing afternoon naps most days so I’m thinking of sending him to school soon. Usually kindergartens are 9am to 1pm so if he goes, I’ll have the morning to myself. The good thing is, I’ll have guaranteed workout time in the morning but I also know he’ll get sick more often, as I’ve experienced with both his older sisters. It’s inevitable I guess, so we’ll see. We’re either starting next month, or next year.

Hope you all have been well. Happy Sunday to you!

xoxo Lily

  • I follow you on BlogLovin and as you already know, I kinda stalk you on Instagram so honestly you closing down Twitter doesn’t bother me as much. If you close down Instagram then sister, you and me will have problems. πŸ˜‚ I have dabbled with Asian makeup but for the experiences are very hit and miss, I think I much prefer Asian skincare.

    • Lily

LOL ironically, I don’t read through Bloglovin. I prefer Feedly. It’s simpler. I stalk you on Instagram too, and I love your Instastories! I can’t speak properly on the camera. I get tongue tied. Hahaha! I don’t mind Asian skincare too. Whatever works really.

  • I also always accidentally smudge my mascara on my lid!!! Until now I thought I was the only person on earth that does it πŸ™‚ Korean cosmetics is very hard to find here, and the only shop I know in Barcelona that sells it seems to have stopped selling etude house. I still have my twitter but as if I don’t! I never look at it. I’ve been swimming laps some mornings, and enjoying that I can eat more normally now my nauseas seem to have gone! xx

    • Lily

Ah good to know you’re feeling better now. Enjoy a few more months until your belly gets so big it’s uncomfortable. LOL! I smudge mascaras on my lid ALL the time. Hahaha!

  • Thanks for the shoutout! That warm shimmery orange gold tones look beautiful on you. (I didn’t notice any mascara smudge, but I know I make the same mistake myself all the time. LOL) There are many more Korean makeup that I haven’t gotten around to. I’m glad they are so much better quality now. πŸ˜‰

    • Lily

I wouldn’t have given it a second look if not for you, Lena!
And yes, there are so many to choose from. I watch Pony on Youtube and I get to see what kind of Korean makeup she uses. Quite interesting. Too bad my trip to South Korea cancelled. Would have loved to explore their beauty scene personally!

  • Melissa

Meh, I can’t see the mascara stain, no worries! I rrrrreally love the eye look. I’d copy paste that onto myself in a heart beat.

    • Lily

Ah thank you! Copy and paste away πŸ™‚

  • I find their metallic shadows more forgivable than their matte ones. There’s almost no affordable matte shadows that blend out as well as say MAC or Stila or even UD….

    • Lily

That’s quite true. I found some decent ones in Catrice but still not comparable to the brands you mentioned. Then again, the Catrice ones cost only a fraction of their prices.

      • Catrice, yes but they don’t stand the test of time. They blend pretty well but fade away just as easy!
