Review: Dior Hydra Life Fresh Cleanser and Ultra Fine Exfoliating Powder

Today I’ll be sharing with you Dior Hydra Life cleanser and exfoliator. Dior Hydra Life is their hydration range, which has been revamped to adopt a more holistic approach to skincare. It is now gentler on the skin and more eco-friendly as well. How? The presence of silicones and petrochemical derivatives is minimized, and these products are now paraben free. The packaging of the products are also revamped to conserve – unnecessary elements such as leaflets, cardboards, cellophane and weight of glass have been reduced or eliminated.

Dior Hydra Life Lotion to Foam Fresh Cleanser (190ml RM160)

Aqua (water) . Glycerin . Diglycerin . Decyl Glucoside . Butylene Glycol . PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate . Coco-Betaine . PEG-40 Glyceryl Cocoate . Phenoxyethanol . Parfum (Fragrance) . Sodium Coceth Sulfate . Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate . Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate . Caprylyl Glycol . Disodium Edta . Citric Acid . Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract . BHT . Saponins . Tocopherol

Lotion to foam is telling. It looks like clear liquid in the bottle, but one pump and it turns to foam on your palm. Personally, I pump 2 times on my hands and then gently massage it onto my damp face. If my face is dry, the foam doesn’t glide smoothly. I have normal to slightly dry skin, and I use this lotion to foam fresh cleanser in the mornings. I like heavier creams at night, and sometimes I even apply face oil so in the mornings, my face tends to be more dewy than I like. This foam gently removes the oil. Then, I’d head on to my morning warm shower before applying the rest of my skincare. Foam cleansers are great if you have oily skin, and the good news is, this is gentle enough even on my skin. It doesn’t strip my skin dry and there is no taut pulling feeling on my skin after wash either.

Exfoliators can be gentle. There is no need for devices or harsh scrubs if you don’t want to. I’ve been really enjoying the ultra fine exfoliating powder. It is by no means a new invention. The first time I used exfoliating powders was 20 years ago. Exfoliating powders usually transform into light foam upon contact with water, and this is no different. I like to pour the powder onto my palm before wetting my hands. Then, I just massage it onto my damp face. The sugar extracts in Dior Hydra Life Time to Glow Ultra Fine Exfoliating Powder refines the skin’s texture while the natural lotus seeds polish its surface. Depending on your skin’s condition, you can use it once or twice a week. For science, I tried it a few days in a row. Erm, while my skin did not break out or turn red and raw, it did feel drier than usual. So, I’ve been happy just exfoliating every Monday and Thursday. Skin is brighter and softer immediately and I wish it stays that way after. LOL!

Dior Hydra Life skincare range is great for those who need to get their skin’s hydration level up and I used to use this when I was in my mid 20s, but for me now, it is not enough. For someone my age (40 next year), and for my skin type (normal to dry), I need to supplement it with some oils and richer serums. I will be talking about their serum, moisturizer and mask as well, so bear with me while I get my act together. I really love their Smooth Balm Mask, so I think I’ll talk about that first. For now, I’ll leave you with a clean fresh face, and trailing fragrance from this skincare.
