Review: Clinique Fresh Pressed 7-Day System with Vitamin C

Clinique introduced their Fresh Pressed 7-Day System with Pure Vitamin C (RM135) earlier in the year. It is a set of individually packed cleansers (you get 7 packs, 0.5g each pack) and a bottle of Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% that is good for 7 days and 7 nights (contains 8.5ml). It is available for purchase at Sephora and Clinique’s standalone stores.

Clinique 7 day system promises to refresh and renew the skin. Potent vitamin C helps brighten and even out the skin while diminishing fine lines for a radiant youthful glow. The pure vitamin C naturally degrades when exposed to oxygen so it is best used when still fresh. The packaging is made so that the pure vitamin C is isolated until activation. This is to ensure the freshness is maintained and you get the full power of vitamin C for maximum results.

Clinique Fresh Pressed Renewing Powder Cleanser

There are 7 individual sachets of powder cleanser in this system. It is meant to jump-start skin’s natural cellular renewal process in the morning. I pour the powder (entire sachet) onto wet hands, add water, and work into lather. After massaging it onto the skin, I leave it on for one minute to capture the potency of pure vitamin C, then rinse. You have to remember to use slightly more water or it won’t lather properly. I have tried using only half a sachet in the morning, and the other half in the evening. It doesn’t feel as rich but it still works fine.

My skin feels very smooth immediately after cleansing. Smooth and clean, like it’s just been exfoliated. I’ve been enjoying powder cleansers a lot lately, and this one takes the throne. The reason? I can really see a difference in my skin every time I wash. Too bad they don’t sell the cleanser separately though.

Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10%

Leave the cap on where the nozzle is, and remove the foil from the other end. It’ll reveal an orange bulb (?) which is the dispenser. Press it twice to release the vitamin C powder into the soothing emulsion and shake for 15 seconds. I like to press the bulb fully for 1 time to release the serum and apply it to my face before moisturizer. Instructions say to mix only 2 drops with moisturizer so erm, I might have used too much. I’ve been using this amount every day and night for the past 7 days and there is still serum left for 3 more uses. So if you only use 2 drops, this booster will last you a while, but the vitamin C won’t be fresh anymore. Even in the instructions, it is advised to discard unused serum after 7 days. So… you decide, to use one whole pump or just 2 drops. LOL!

Note: For full potency, use within seven days then discard. Once activated, Booster retains full power for 7 days but may darken due to normal vitamin C oxidation.

Verdict

Pros.

I like this system for its ease of use and for its effectiveness. I have not been using any brightening products about a month before using this Clinique fresh pressed 7 day system, and I find that my skin definitely looks brighter and more even toned. It is great to jump start the skin in a short time. I believe it is also useful after a holiday when our skin is usually in dire need of renewing!

Cons.

I find that this system can be drying for the skin if used without any other hydrating products. I make sure I use a hydrating moisturizer, and also a face oil to seal everything off at night. I have normal to dry skin, and when used alone with just a moisturizer, my skin looks dry. I also use a hydrating serum before the vitamin C because when used alone, the booster makes some places on my face itch. It’s especially true on the skin around my nose, where I have the most redness. It sometimes itch on places where I have pigmentation too. It is not uncomfortable, but just a slight tingling sensation, which I take it as a sign of the vitamin C working. Lastly, the price. RM135 for 7 days is not exactly affordable.

Have you tried Clinique Fresh Pressed 7 day system yet? How do you like it? If you ask me if I’ll purchase it with my own money, I’ll tell you YES, I will – during Sephora’s private sale when I’ll get 20% off.

  • This actually sounds pretty good but yes, I can see how it can get drying and Malaysia is a humid country! I have been loving Vitamin C products for my day time routine, I swear my skin benefits a lot from it but not sure I would pick this up though. Last thing I need is to dry out my skin and make it worse.

It’s actually OK with a hydrating serum, and it really did brighten the skin in 1 week! And I must say, if my skin needs a pick me up, I will get this 🙂
