Review: Dior Hydra Life Essence and Moisturizer

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I wrote. How have you been? For me, it’s been quite productive offline. I got a lot of things done and I even have some time to do new things! If you follow me on Instagram, you’d know what I’m talking about. I might have found something else I like to do, but I’m also doing my best not to turn it into a new obsession. I’m practicing moderation because minimalistic lifestyle is just not me 😉

Here, I have the final 2 products from the Dior Hydra Life skincare lineup and they are the moisturizer and essence. The Dior Hydra Life Deep Hydration – Sorbet Water Essence Aqua Serum (40ml RM295) is a moisturizing essence, a gentle skin-refining peel and an instant toning effect, all in one. The natural mallow and haberlea leaf extracts give the skin an instant boost of freshness. When applied, my skin feels a cool tingling sensation. I’d say it’s a little minty. It felt weird at first, but after a few times, I grew to like it. In fact, the moisturizer does the same thing. When I use the moisturizer after the essence, the cool minty sensation is even greater. If you don’t like that sort of thing, then these are probably not for you.

Dior Hydra Life Fresh Hydration – Sorbet Creme (50ml RM295) is a gel moisturizer that absorbs into the skin almost immediately. It is extremely lightweight and leaves no texture behind. I have mature skin now (ahem!) so I do add a bit of oil to make it richer especially at night. When I use it in the morning, I like to add a couple of drops of Vitamin C for extra protection. If you’re still in your early 20s, I’d say the essence and moisturizer are more than enough to keep your skin happy, hydration wise.

I still very much like their Capture skincare, which is targeted at women my age. They are also that much more expensive – twice the price of this! Then again, Dior and I go way back. When I first came home from studying overseas, I remember my mom took me to Dior to buy their Diorsnow products to counter my pigmentation. It worked back then, 20 years ago, it worked a few years ago when I tried their reformulated line, and I won’t hesitate to use it again. What I’m trying to say is, Dior skincare agrees with me – from Hydra Life to Diorsnow to Capture.

What about you? What skincare brand makes your skin happy? I’m glad I’ve found mine and I know there are a few brands I can fall back on. And for now, if you have dehydrated skin, drink lots of water, and supplement with good skincare and I recommend these because my skin likes them. Again, please remember the minty feeling on your skin. I understand it can put some people off.

Have a great weekend ahead, my friends!

xoxo Lily

  • It’s really good to see a new post from you, Lily! I do miss reading your post but I’m glad that we connect a lot through Instagram. I have yet to try anything from Dior but I have a few products from them in my Sephora Love list, mainly the Air Serum foundation and a couple lipsticks. My go-to skincare recently has been Vichy because I am trialling them but other than that I noticed most of my skincare are now AB products.

ps: Do you add Vitamin C serum into the moisturizer? I have never tried that before.

Hey sexy lady! Yes to the Dior serum foundation. It’s super weightless and so easy to wear. I have friends who just use that and nothing else. And yes, I add the Deciem C25 booster to my moisturizer. I’m too lazy to apply it separately. LOL! But the Deciem one says it doesn’t react to other ingredients, so I know it’s stable.
