Review: Trilogy No.15 Limited Edition Beauty Oil

I was recently sent the Trilogy No. 15 Limited Edition Beauty Oil (RM108, 30ml) to try. I read some reviews on it last month, and I also know that this multi purpose oil is also sold out online at TNS Skin Lab. I went to the local store nearby, and found that it’s still available, and so I decided to review this asap. This oil is limited edition, and very well received. I only got to try it for 2 weeks, so here are my observations.

This beauty oil is a blend of 15 superseed oils, and can be used on the face, hair and body. It acts as an anti pollution protector, it repairs our skin, smooths and hydrates. I can’t tell you if it works against pollution or if it repairs my skin, but I can tell you it definitely hydrates. While it does work on my face, I can’t really say it’s all because of the oil because I use serums and I have always done my best to keep my skin in tip top condition. However, it’s a different story when it comes to my body. I add a few drops of this oil to my body lotion, and it has done wonders especially to my legs. I have really dry shins for some reason (maybe it’s because I wear shorts 95% of the time, I don’t know), and no amount of body lotions or creams help. By adding a few drops of this oil to my lotion, my legs now look smooth and gives off a glowy sheen, I kid you not!! It has won me over!

These are the superseed oils listed on TNS Skin Lab:

Adansonia digitata (baobab) seed oil, Macadamia (macadamia) ternifolia seed oil, Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, Vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, Ribes nigrum (black currant) seed oil, Prunus avium (sweet cherry) seed oil, Lycium chinense (goji) fruit extract, Pongamia glabra (karanja) seed oil, Aleurites moluccanus (kukui) seed oil, Brassica alba (mustard) seed oil, Carica papaya (papaya) seed oil, Passiflora incarnate (passion flower) seed oil, Pistacia vera (Pistachio) seed oil.

Not mentioned are rosehip oil and mango seed oil. These make 15 different types of oil.

Rosehip oil alone breaks me out, as far as I can remember, and in this blend, it does not. The combination of cherry, baobab and rosehip oils delivers a kick of antioxidants to the oil blend while blackcurrant and mango oils help protect and repair the skin at cellular level. Kukui seed oil helps protect against increased environmental pollution. Macadamia and papaya seed oils are deeply conditioning while karanja and passionflower oils strengthen the skin’s natural barrier function and help to smooth brittle and dry hair. Baobab also delivers a boost of hydration which most of us need.

The texture of the oil is not as lightweight as a dry oil, and not as heavy as a pure blend either. I quite like this in between texture because it manages to make my skin feel comfortable without being too greasy. I have also tried using it in the day before my moisturizer, and if I’m out and about, my skin feels slightly greasy after a few hours. I feel like I need to wipe my face or blot or just do something to get rid of the shine. However, if I’m only in air conditioned places, my skin feels comfortable all day long. It also wears well under foundation. In fact, for foundations that I find a bit thick or dry, I add a drop of this oil mixed with the foundation. Works wonders!

As with all oils, I store this in my skincare cupboard that is dark and cool. It helps prolong the life of oils because we all know oils turn rancid. We also can’t be too generous when applying oils, because we’d be grease balls and might even risk breakouts! That’s the main reason I don’t keep a lot of oils in my cupboard. I’m also trying to use up all the skincare in my cupboard (no more hoarding!) and I’m making good progress.

Have you tried this Trilogy No 15 Limited Edition Beauty Oil? I just checked the TNS Skin Lab website again, and this product is currently sold out. Do check once in a while if you’re interested because I remember seeing it available online just last week.

If you haven’t tried adding oils to your skincare, I think this is a good product to try. It works well, and the price point is wallet friendly!

NOTE: I checked with TNS Skinlab and this oil is currently out of stock everywhere. Trilogy is still deciding whether or not to make another batch due to the overwhelming response. It is still undecided, and if they do, it will be available in 2018.
