I was very recently gifted the Bobbi Brown Caviar & Rubies Eye Shadow Palette. I wanted to get the swatches out ASAP when the palette is still available for purchase (limited edition) because it is gorgeous! I love the luxe maroon and gold packaging and the 9 eye shadows in the palette are all very wearable. The texture of the eye shadows are just like their permanent range, and that means they are smooth and blendable. The dark shades are very pigmented, and the gold glitter at the centre of the palette is meant to be added on top of your eye shadow to jazz things up. Just pick up with your ring finger and dab on the lid. It instantly adds glamour to any eye look you might be wearing.
There are 2 light shimmery colours, a couple of transition and shading colours, and 4 very pigmented deep colours. They all apply beautifully, but Deep Sapphire (matte dark navy) and Caviar (matte black) go on slightly patchy as lid colours because the texture is drier. They are however, great as an eye liner or as accents to add depth. Then again, blues are never easy. I find that it’s quite hard to find a good matte blue. They either blend into ashy nothingness, or they stay pigmented but patchy. You can’t win. Shimmery blues however, are easier to find. The black stays very black as eye liner, and on my eyes, it doesn’t transfer or smudge.
Here are 2 eye looks I created using the deeper colours.
And here’s a very wearable look I created when I went out the other day.
I’m not sure how much this palette is in Ringgit, but it’s US$75. Even though I have enough eye shadow palettes to last a lifetime, this is a pleasant surprise and I welcome it warmly into my palette family. You should take a look if you’re looking for a palette that takes you from day to night, with some warmer and cooler shades housed in one. I’ve been enjoying mine a lot. Doesn’t look like much, but the Bobbi Brown Caviar & Rubies are very flattering on.
