Sunday Stash Shopping #99: Dior Precious Rocks Collection

As promised, here are a few looks using the Dior Precious Rocks Collection. For swatches, please refer previous post. For the first look, I chose Ruby. I LOVE this palette. All the colours go on beautifully, and they definitely work better on the lids than on my arms. On the lids, they are more pigmented, and the colours are all very vibrant without being over the top. Like I said before, I find this palette more wearable than Emerald. Here is how I wore it the other day, when I went out for lunch.

On the eyes, the Ruby eye palette, on the cheeks the Diorblush Precious Rocks and on the lips, Diorific Matte Fluid in 006. I removed the strong lips before going out for lunch though. It was a more casual thing.

As you can see, it is not too red at all. I was complimented at lunch too, saying that the red eye shadows looked very different and pretty.

Next is the Emerald eye palette. Instead of making it wearable, I did a bolder eye makeup look. I haven’t taken eye shadows down so low on my lower lash line before. It looked very weird before adding liner and mascara, but it seems to make my eyes look slightly larger once done. On my cheeks and lips, I used the Diorific Matte Fluid in 007 which is the bright coral. However, I sheered it out on my lips with lots of lip balm and just a touch of the Matte Fluid. It makes a really pretty nude coral and does not take the attention away from the eyes.

These photos were taken using the fluorescent light at my vanity because it’s been raining, and it’s way too cloudy and dark out (even though it was only 3.30pm). I had to tweak the white balance, and the brightness, but the photos came out true to colour. Even better than sunlight, actually. Sunlight does wash out some details, I find.

There you go. Here are a couple of looks I created. As for Emerald, the dark green does lose its intensity after blending, so I like to use my finger to pat some eye shadow on my lids after everything is blended, to give it more vibrancy and saturation. I didn’t have to do that with the Ruby palette. I said I’d choose the Diorific Matte Fluid in 006 if I had to buy something from this collection. But now, I’d add Ruby eye palette for sure. I wouldn’t miss it. So so so beautiful!

Which look do you prefer? Red or green?

  • I love both shades on you, Lily but the red one is definitely my favourite! I stayed away from red eyeshadows for so long but after getting Naked Heat and Modern Renaissance, I am experimenting more!

Thanks Shireen. And yes, I love the red one! Oh, I’ve been itching to get the Naked Heat again… it’s like I really shouldn’t, but oh the itch!

  • Even though I don’t think I could pull off any of the 2, both look amazing on you! Cannot decide which I like best!!

    • Lily

Thanks Sofia. I’m sure there are ways to pull off red and green on everyone 🙂

I really like the red too!
