Happy New Year 2018 and Thank You!

Happy New Year 2018 everybody! I hope you had a good Christmas and perhaps even had a great holiday. The kids are going back to school tomorrow after a 5-week break from school. They were complaining that this holiday felt like it went by too fast, and I agree. Maybe we were having too good a time. 2017 flew by, and that’s what most of us said. Actually, I feel like that come every year end. The year just kind of flew by, then it’d be New Year’s Day, and then Chinese New Year.

It didn’t matter if I had a shitty week, or a shitty few months during that year. By the end of the year, I’d look back, reflect, and think, hey, I made through it and while it was bad, I’m still here. Stronger. So my friends, my dear friends who didn’t have that great of a year, or maybe you’re still having a difficult time, it will pass. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. There is always tomorrow and the sun always rises. Take your time to mourn. I know I did when my granddad passed away. Be calm and endure, even when you think it’s ridiculous and you should punch someone in the face. You’d be glad you didn’t. If it’s something beyond you, then may you find strength in something you absolutely believe in. It may be God, it may be yourself, it may be the love for your family or the love OF your loved ones.

I know it’s getting soppy, but 2017 has been tough for many people I know.

Moving forward, I honestly don’t have any plans nor big goals. I just want to continue with my fitness journey, which I’ve been working on the past couple of years. It’s really been a journey of self discovery. There have been good times and dark times, battling with my inner demons, but I think this journey itself is priceless as I slowly become a better person.

Beauty wise, I want to continue to use up my things as I have in 2017. I will continue to document my skincare empties here on the blog, and makeup empties on Instagram. I might even start doing one in one out posts for skincare once I’ve cleared out the remaining backups I have in my cupboard. There’s not much left, because I’ve used up backups of serums and moisturizers. It’s definitely an achievement, because I worked on it the past 2-3 years.

Blogging wise, I’d like to say I want to put up better content more regularly, but in all honesty, I can only do what I can manage. It’s not easy being a full time mom to 3 kids, with a 3-year-old still clinging on to me every minute of the day. Ashton goes to school in the morning, so I have some free time to myself. During that time, I get my guaranteed workout time in. More important than blogging, don’t you think? LOL! But I can promise you, I’ll still be as honest and candid as I have. I’ll still keep it real because it’s too much effort trying to be someone I’m not.

So I want to wish all of you a peaceful 2018. Please take care of your health. Get your sleep in, get your water in, try to get a couple of workouts in, get your vege, vitamins, and also, love. Keep the people who give you strength very close to you. And stay hopeful. Hope is what keeps us going. Our hope and faith for a better tomorrow.

Thank you for reading, as usual. Thank you for being with me, commenting even when you’re busy, and staying with me even though I sometimes disappear for a while. And for that thank you, I’d like to give you a surprise. An Instagram giveaway just ended, but I want to have one on the blog too. I bought a huge eye shadow palette from Violet Voss a while ago. It’s called the Violet Voss Holy Grail palette. I haven’t tried it before, but I LOVE THE COLOURS!!! It’s been sitting in my drawer, and I’ve been so tempted to try it! But no, I held it in and thought I’d save it for a giveaway. Along with this eye palette, I have a pair of Huda Beauty faux mink lashes for you, when you want extra drama. It’s Farah #12 lashes. I bought these from Cult Beauty, and you can always search for swatches online.

This giveaway is open worldwide, to my genuine readers. As you can see, I didn’t announce it in the title, and I also sneakily announce it at the end of a long ramble. If you’ve been reading so far, thank you! As you know, I don’t like to have giveaways to get more subscribers. It’s the genuine readers, my long time readers who really count.

All you have to do is, tell me in the comment below, your happiest moment in 2017. I know of too many sad stories in 2017, so I want ALL OF US to remember that one happiest moment in 2017 and focus on that to bring us into 2018. So tell me and I’ll pick the winner randomly on the 10th of January 2018. I’ll contact the winner via email and will also announce it here by editing this post <here>.

Congratulations Cecila!! Please email me your address so I can send the prize to you!!

Again, Happy 2018, and enter this giveaway! This eye palette is gorgeous, and so is the lashes! I don’t earn a salary anymore, so I can’t afford to buy too many expensive gifts for you, so I hope you’ll like these πŸ™‚

xoxo Lily

Happy New Year Lily. My happiest moment in 2017 was when we celebrated our parents 55th Wedding Anniversary in Pangkor Laut Resort recently.

    • Lily

55th wedding anniversary? WOW! Happy anniversary!!!

Happy 2018 Lily! For me, being able to travel for 2 weeks through NZ with the bffs with no kids and hubs around was definitely the highlight of 2017.

    • Lily

Ah, I’d like to do that one day πŸ™‚

Blessed 2018, Lily! For me, travelling with my brother to Japan was a highlight. Not only is the trip a good one, but also, I got to bond with my brother. It’s not that we don’t stay together, but somehow being thrown together for 2 weeks makes us think more, talk more and bond more I guess. (:

    • Lily

You reminded me to call my brother. hahaha!

Happy New Year Lily. 2017 has been filled with more lows than highs for me unfortunately but something good that stood out, is me seeing the joy on the faces of the kids & the old folks at the homes I volunteer at just by conversing and taking an interest in them. The things I used to take for granted means so much to them. Hopefully I’ll still be able to volunteer my time and efforts to the cause this year. May 2018 brings us all great health and happiness.

    • Lily

Ah you’re such a kind soul! May you be blessed for your generosity πŸ™‚

2017 was the usual year for me. There were a few moments that made me smile, but they are very personal 😊

    • Lily

Thank you! And in 2018, I wish you lots of moments that make you smile wider, and even laugh so hard you cry πŸ™‚

My happiest moment this year was when my daughter and her family came home from the US for a visit last July. She has two daughters. The eldest is eleven, and the last time we saw her she was only nine months old. The youngest is ten, and the last time, she was still in her mommy’s tummy. Ten long years since we last saw my daughter and son in law and eldest granddaughter! The youngest one we’ve never even met. There’s Skype and viber and face time, of course, but hugging them was the best! The kids and I bonded instantly, and they didn’t want to leave at the end. Sara, the eldest, asked us to sell the business and all our properties and follow them back to the States. Oh, and don’t forget to bring the maid, too πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†

    • Lily

Ah so beautiful. Kids say the darnest things but I’m so happy for you that you got to bond with your grandchildren!

    • Lily

      Congratulations Cecila!! You’re the winner!!
Please email me your address so I can mail the prize to you. I hope you put the eye shadows and lashes to good use!

      • Cecilia L. Wong

😁yehey! My year is off to a good start! I’m not really a makeup person, but I’m sure my goddaughter will be thrilled! Thank you, Lily!

Hi Cecilia, I deleted your recent comment because it contained your personal details. I received your email, and will send out the gift soon!

  • Happy New Year Lily! Yes the year has been full of ups and downs, though you can probably guess my happiest moment was learning that we’ll be expecting Miss E. Lots of happy milestones after that, we were pretty nervous incase there would be problems in the way but we’ve passed all the tests and months with flying colours. Now I’m just heavy and uncomfortable and waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel when she’ll finally make her appearance. 2018 is gonna be different! I wish you health and happiness for 2018 xxx

    • Lily

Just a few more days, Sofia! I wish you safe delivery and I can’t wait to see her photo when you’re ready to show her to the world πŸ™‚

  • Azlyana

Happy New Year Lily! My happiest moment is easily when I gave birth to my lovely little Sofea on the 22nd of June 2017. After 7 years of trying and 2 failed IVF sessions, my husband and I managed to conveive naturally, and let me tell you what a shock it was to us. Sometimes god does work in mysterious ways.

    • Lily

Ah, I’m so happy for you Azlyana! I’m sure she’s the most precious princess too πŸ™‚ In less than a week, Princess Sofea will turn 1. How fast time flies too, eh?

  • Happy New Year, Lily and thank you for a lovely giveaway! Seems like we share the same resolution, I’m trying to use up my skincare stash and minimize my beauty purchases. I want this year to be the year of rediscovering instead of non-stop buying new stuff.

This was a great year for me and family, expensive but a great one because we built and moved into our dream home. There are many good that happened this year but the devastating one happened on Christmas which left me depressed for two days. You’re right, I’m not going to dwell on the bad but treasure the good.

    • Lily

Yes Shireen, And it’s human nature to focus on the bad. My parents sometimes bring up some not so happy times that happened 20 years ago πŸ™ But yay to your dream home!

  • Sonia Ahmad Abdullah

Happy New Year Lily! I don’t have a particularly happy memory of 2017 that truly pops out in my mind when I think about it, but the closest would be when I received my acceptance letter to continue my post-graduate studies at London Business School. Unfortunately, the happy news was overshadowed by the death of my favourite aunt, so yeah, my 2017 was not that great. But here’s to a better 2018. Cheers. πŸ₯‚

    • Lily

I’m sorry about the passing of your favourite aunt πŸ™ And Hey, congratulations on continuing your post grad in London! Well done!

  • Happy New Year Lily! Here’s to a better, calmer, smoother year for us all. Goodness knows, we’ll need it! πŸ˜€

    • Lily

Don’t we all. Here’s to a more positive year πŸ™‚

  • Jennelle Leow

Happy New Year Lily! I cannot be more thankful for the love ones that stood beside me and supporting me to push myself forward to be a better person.

    • Lily

Hear hear. Cheers to those who stand by us through thick and thin, no matter how low we feel, they are there to pull us up!
