I love dewy skin. Dewy, glowy and healthy skin. If you go overboard, then you’ll look like you have super oily greasy skin, so the balance has to be there. For that, I always use a glow primer on top of my sunscreen before my base (foundation or concealer or both). I hardly use highlighter because erm, lazy, and I like primers 🙂 I like Becca Backlight Priming Filter and Chanel Multi Use Illuminating Base. I don’t think I wrote about these before, but I bought those and have been using them regularly. I also like Bobbi Brown Illuminating Face Base SPF25 because it brightens my skin slightly as well. I purchased that last year and have also been using it regularly. I like to rotate my products. If you want a review of these products, do let me know. I think those I mentioned are great for normal skin. As my skin is slightly drier than normal, I’ve been appreciating the extra richness of Bobbi Brown’s Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm.
I was gifted a big tub of this, a limited Christmas edition, and I’ve been really enjoying it. It does not brighten like the Bobbi Brown illuminating face base, but it gives my skin such a healthy glow without the grease. Bear in mind I have combination normal dry skin. When I wear this, I like to leave my skin translucent, and just cover any dark circles and redness around my nose using minimal concealer. I can’t begin to describe how good it is. It takes a bit more work to carefully blend the concealer in, to make sure it’s one with the skin. If I use a tinted moisturizer, I can just slap it on my whole face and call it a day.
This illuminating moisture balm also gets rid of any flakiness so if you have dry skin with texture, this will help smoothen your skin before your foundation. If you have oilier skin, then this is not for you. You might then want to explore the Illuminating Face Base which I really like. It is lighter in texture and absorbs into the skin quicker.
Here, I am wearing just the Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm and some concealer under my eyes and around my nose. The rest of the face is mine. The balm makes my skin glow and this is how I want my skin to look all the time. People mistake this for my bare skin. I don’t mind 🙂 I’ve been having good skin days, and I don’t want to cover up using foundation. What this balm does not do is cover up pores. It is not a filler, and you can see in the photo below that the pores around my nose are still noticeable. Not many primers can take them away anyway, and I don’t really fancy silicone pore fillers that much, even though I do use them once in a while.
This balm is actually permanent and is available in a 30ml bottle. I just saw on the US website that there are 3 new versions. There are bare glow, pink glow and golden glow, retailing for RM275 each. I’m curious how these new ones work. There isn’t any Bobbi Brown counters where I live, so I can’t just walk in and test them. How sad. If you have tried those, please let me know how they perform!
